Back to the original subject: additional cutouts for Qimage.
Run a google search for photo (frames, masks) and you'll find plenty of freebies. Not all will work with Qimage, but many will.

In my previous post, I failed to mention that I had no problem modifying a cutout and then being able to view & apply it until after I had upgraded to Studio edition...which, if I recall, was after I had set up a Guest account on my computer.
However, I was not getting any error messages. I had before the upgrade set up a shortcut to the Cutouts folder--but that folder was no longer THE Cutouts folder being used by Qimage. See my previous post, above. Not sure why it worked out like that--which is why I hope I'm not misdirecting anyone with this post.
Using XP Home, SP3, and Qimage Studio Edition.

I had a similar problem late last year. I was editing the files in c/program files/qimage. Turns out I should have been editing the files in c/all users/ddisoftware/qimage/cutouts.
Search your computer for folders named "cutouts." There can be more than one.

Yes, I saw that late last night.
The author of the article replied to my email and said, "Qimage is a good suggestion" for a follow-up article. I replied with a few more comments and suggested that he download the 30-day trial. He replied with, "Thanks for the tip," so let's hope he follows through.

"The best part is, it only costs $100 for the top Studio Edition that also has superb raw processing abilities making it possible to print directly from a raw file."
Glad you mentioned the price, too. What a bargain!

Terry--You must have seen my "hammer-headed Hollander" comment, referring to myself, but I'm in the USA, NW Illinois, actually. It's not unusual over here (or at least in the Midwest, where I grew up) to hear anyone of German/Dutch/Swiss ancestry refer to himself as a hammer-headed Hollander or Dutchman.
Another variation: "You can always tell a Dutchman. Not much, but you can tell him."

It's evidently still awaiting moderation. I can see it, but of course I'm logged in, and it's my comment. I'll check back later to see yours. Here's mine:
Use Qimage instead. It's a stand-alone program for less than $100 which has been demonstrated to give better results than Genuine Fractals. Invaluable for anyone who wants photo prints larger than 8x10. Just a very satisfied user; I have no financial interest in the company.

Yes, but like Qimage, we're getting better--right?
"Ve get too soon oldt and too late schmart."
Incidentally, being a hammer-headed Hollander, it's permissible for me to do that dialect joke.

Don't hesitate to go bigger.
After printing some test strips with Qimage, I decided to take advantage of a half-price special on 18x24 prints from a local supplier. Qimage took my 2.8 MP original image and turned it into an 18.8 MP file. The resulting print is highly detailed without a hint of pixelization, even upon close examination.
Enjoy Qimage.

You raise a good point.
We all use many different software programs. How many of those programs truly make things better for us? How often do we have the luxury of hitting the "go" button, walking away, and coming back later to collect the just-what-we-wanted output?
I could if necessary make do with a different browser, email program, spreadsheet program, word processor, photo editor, etc. But I don't know what I'd do without Qimage.
Welcome to the fan club.
