Ah! Now it works. Never knew you could do this. It seems my Nikon Z6 saves a full res jpg in the raw. Makes me wonder if I'm just wasting space by saving it separately in the camera? OTOH, it's not that much space.

I'm not seeing this as an option. Only works on some raws or no longer supported?

This isn't photographic printing but might still be of interest. I use a 2D CAD program called Visual CADD. It's a descendent of the old Generic CADD, brought up to modern Windows standards. I've used it forever and like it a lot. One of the things I draw and print are targets. Things like lens resolution targets and various targets read by photo sensors in products at work. The last targets I printed were only 1 1/2" diameter, with small circles within, about 1/16". Under mild magnification, or even with a sharp eye, the little circles weren't quite round, but were polygons. Turns out the program doesn't print at full printer resolution, just what they think is good enough, which is a bit of a bummer in my application.

Qimage to the rescue! I was able to reduce my grid of targets in CAD down to one circle. I could then export that circle at about 3000 x 3000 as a jpeg file. In Qimage I was able to scale it correctly and recreate the grid of multiple targets on a single page. Off to the PRO-100 it went. Perfect beautiful circles, even under a strong hand lens.

Qimage- it ain't just for pretty pictures!

These are raws and jpegs right from the camera, so no prior version involved. I do use somewhat weird settings in my raw preferences, mostly sharpening and noise shut off (zero, zero, off, off).

Nikon Z6.

Not even sure this is real, but I think I've noticed it twice. I create a directory and dump in a bunch of camera images, jpgs and raw. I launch Qimage and go to the directory and let the rendering stuff happen. At that point, if I hover over an image or use the exif viewer, the aperture and focal lengths come up zero for all images. Other data is there. Closing Qimage and relaunching doesn't fix it. Then (I think) I do a raw refine on one image. After that the exif data shows up for all images. Am I crazy or can you reproduce this? Not sure it even matters, since I invariably refine and/or edit.

If there's a product, software or anything else, with better or more dedicated support than Qimage, I've never found it!

Thanks,
CH

And then, some days ago, it fixed itself. Another of life's mysteries!

Minor thing but every other forum I use has the name and password automatically entered. This one always comes up blank until I click on the line and choose the entries from the dropdown box. I'm using Chrome and Speed Dial 2, though I wouldn't think that would matter.

And the same to you & family!

We've had so many upgrades lately I'm afraid the upgrades have been coming more often than my printing sessions. Need to shoot more. (Mike- thanks for the GPS fix.)

Off the wall question but if I print a photo on my antique HP Laserjet, is there any benefit to having an icc file (if it's even possible) to map tones differently?

Very cool! No iPhone here, just Moto Android. It's interesting that "properties" in Windows file explorer also shows the correct values. It's probably one of those many programming oddities and reminds me of this quote from the movie Christmas Story-

Mr. Parker:
What is the name of the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse?

Mother:
Ah... Victor! His name is Victor.

Mr. Parker:
How the hell did you know that?

Mother:
Everybody knows that!

Anyway, thanks! It's nothing critical and can wait for whenever. I don't usually link the phone GPS, though I can see where it would have been handy for shots when I go out hiking. Not enough $$ for a camera with built-in GPS.

Here's my Thanksgiving image, plus a screenshot of what I see in Affinity. I can also see the seconds if I use the Windows "properties" tab.

Not sure how to force those to be links with the spaces. Couldn't seem to make %20 or <> work.

Thanks,
Conrad

For the first time I connected my phone GPS to my camera. The Lat/Long are definitely now in the image, including seconds. Qimage only reports zeros for the seconds, and the position shown in Google Maps is off by a fair amount, about the amount of the missing seconds! Any chance of getting better resolution in a future update? Do you need a file?
