Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: GPS in EXIF

Very cool! No iPhone here, just Moto Android. It's interesting that "properties" in Windows file explorer also shows the correct values. It's probably one of those many programming oddities and reminds me of this quote from the movie Christmas Story-
Mr. Parker: What is the name of the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse?
Mother: Ah... Victor! His name is Victor.
Mr. Parker: How the hell did you know that?
Mother: Everybody knows that!
Anyway, thanks! It's nothing critical and can wait for whenever. I don't usually link the phone GPS, though I can see where it would have been handy for shots when I go out hiking. Not enough $$ for a camera with built-in GPS. CH

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / GPS in EXIF

For the first time I connected my phone GPS to my camera. The Lat/Long are definitely now in the image, including seconds. Qimage only reports zeros for the seconds, and the position shown in Google Maps is off by a fair amount, about the amount of the missing seconds! Any chance of getting better resolution in a future update? Do you need a file?

Also, it's worth it to experiment with the raw options. IMO, the best settings differ from camera to camera so far as sharpening, noise reduction and smart color.

And FWIW, I do find the out of gamut warning useful, along with the automatic perceptual/relative feature. If Adobe did do something different, I can understand why, though I don't use their stuff either. I don't worry so much about the dark areas, knowing they'll be some acceptable shade of "dark", as opposed to things like flowers and colored plastics, where a loss of separation in the tones can look pretty bad.

That's just fantastic, thanks! I assume it will only apply corrections to that lens and will ignore other lenses that would need their own corrections?
As an aside, I seem to shoot a lot of close-ups of straight sided objects at the full zoom, where the pincushion was driving me crazy.

Technical Discussions / Computer Software / Windows 11- Just venting!

I spent a lot of money a few years ago on a nice workstation-level machine to do image processing and scientific stuff. I got the Kaby Lake processor as it seemed like a good choice at the time. So now we have Windows 11 and my processor isn't on the list. Can't upgrade. Manipulative MS bastards must be in bed with the hardware people to sell more hardware.
