1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Auto Rotate on: January 11, 2024, 06:16:36 PM
Everything looks perfect in your screen recording and all the functions are working as expected.  When you have auto-rotation off, the print is always right side up.  It only rotates to the side when you turn auto-rotate ON: with it on, Qimage can rotate it however it pleases and will pick the best fit for the page.

Could you explain where in the video you feel it should be doing something different?  Please give a time stamp and explain what you are expecting.

Regards,
Mike
Thank you for taking the time to review the video. Around 19 seconds when I add the square image. I just wanted the square image to auto crop "portrait" rather than landscape (Which cut off their feet). Everything else was me just trying to make that happen. No worries, I took the square images that were sent to me and manually cropped them, so I could deliver them to my daughter, and QI would not have any decisions to make.
Thank you for your always prompt replies to our questions.

I will attach a video screen capture so perhaps you will notice something I am doing wrong. I wondered if it was because they were PNG files my daughter sent me so I converted a square one to jpg, it made no difference. I was able to complete the printing for her by manually cropping to an 8x10 portrait format. I just had not run into this particular issue previously.
PS Just to see what would happen, I changed the paper to a single letter size sheet with 8x10 selected as the print size and had the same issue it refused to auto crop the image as 8x10 vertical/portrait.
Thanks Jason

Good day,
I am having difficulty with images auto rotating when I don't want them to. As you can see from my screen cap, I seem to have auto rotate off, but on images that are square they are rotated 90 counter clockwise and cropped landscape. I wanted a portrait cropping. Even if I attempt to manually crop the image it reverts to this. I don't recall ever having that problem when I auto crop.
Thanks Jason

I don't know if this helps any but the Canon Accounting Manager works just fine with Qimage and my Canon Pro 1000. Of course you have to define the cost of every paper and size. Since I don't use roll papers, there may be something different with that.

7  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / New Computer on: November 03, 2022, 03:35:59 PM
I had to upgrade to a new computer for my photo work. I have several templates that took me hours to figure out and printer setups that I would like to transfer from the old installation of QU to the new computer. Could someone point me to a video or instructions on how to do this? If it matters  I am going from a Windows 10 to Windows 11 computer. I already have Qimage installed on the new computer but have not printed anything yet.
Thanks, Jason.

I did find that when the page is laid out in this fashion as soon as I move the text "dot" the text turns to left aligned. Which is okay in this case, but not what I am trying to do. If I start with the text dot on the left where I want it as soon as I click center format it jumps to the horizontal center of the paper. I was trying to do centered text to the left of each photograph, to make 4 side-fold greeting cards when the sheet of paper is cut up. The body of the text is where I want it, I only wish I could format the "paragraph" to be centered.

Thank you Sir, that does what I wanted it to. Now I better print out the steps so I can remember.
Thank you again for your great attention to customer service.

Thanks Mike!
Will I still be able to use a variable like $T - IPTC Title?
11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: RFP (request for proposal) Printing of PDFs on: September 01, 2022, 05:53:44 PM
My 2 cents worth. I too would welcome the ability to print PDFs directly in QI. Here is why the PDFs I sometimes get asked to print are more like photographs in that they need to be printed in a variety of sizes on art paper. Just yesterday someone I print photographs for sent me a couple of PDFs to make into 8x10 and 5x7, they were created 8.5x11. I did exactly as you suggest, I opened in photoshop and exported to Qi and printed. I could have asked the creator to go back and save in some other format but me doing it was easier and more full service. So to me, I can easily work around and am not asking for major programming. I do get why some people ask.

Thanks so much for your reply Fred.
Yes, sir, I may have been unclear. If you notice in the pictures, I am using the same template but when I change to a narrower picture, centered in the unmoving "cell", the floating text floats to, I assume, accommodate the thinner picture. I want the text to anchor to the template. The purpose is to have the variable title of the photograph and the photographer's credit always in the same place on the page regardless if the photo height shrinks to fit the template cell.
Thanks again for your always willingness to help.

The editing screenshot I didn't have enough room to upload.

Is there a way to anchor floating text that has a variable like $T - IPTC Title?
I am making greeting cards, 4 cards on one sheet of 11x17 paper. I created a template/layout. looks great. Then I use a different photo, this photo is skinner, it centers in the template "cell" just like I want it to. (automatic cropping turned off) But now my text has moved to match the photo. I would like for the text to stay in the same place on the paper. Please see attached pictures that may tell the story better than I have.
Thanks, Jason

Thank you for your instruction Mike!
That is what I ended up doing.
Thanks.
