Hi Mike
Many thanks for your prompt replies. I have indeed re-installed Qimage [reply 7] and have had no further problems.  I mentioned in my ‘e’ mail this morning Mike I did suspect that the problem lay with my system, I use Kaspersky as anti virus etc. Anyways alls well that ends well. Mike have a merry Christmas and peaceful New Year.
Stay safe,
Trevor.

Hi gents, I have located copies of the problem files. Have re-installed an earlier version of Windows, [from True Image] loaded QImage only to receive the ‘out of range’ message. If you forward me DDI’s postal address I will willingly forward you the files and associated screenshots. The total package comes to approx. 2.75gb, or, if you ‘talk’ me through it [I’m 80 years old] will if possible ‘e’ mail them.
Regards knowriteye

Hi Fred, please read Mike's post one above my morning's post. Qimage does not delete files, I do after conversion. I will try to find copies so as to enable me to send them to Mike if coversion fails.
Regards,
Knowriteye

Mike, Unfortunately at the moment I have at the moment no other TIFFs to convert. I have somewhere other copies of the problematical TIFFs, however, they will take some finding. As I ‘said’ earlier I processed the files in batches of 40, the error message appeared immediately I attempted to process the files. The counter in the adjustment box showed 0 from 50 in the queue. What is strange is the fact that I converted hundreds of TIFFs to JPEGs before the problem surfaced. The only other error message I have received is one to the effect that Qimage cannot find the q.bmp file. I cured this by re-installing the programme, this was some weeks before the problem under discussion cropped up. When I find the copies I will attempt to convert them. If they still prove problematical I will ‘e’ mail you copies if the files concerned and the screen shots that pop up. As I ‘said’ [post 5] I have processed around 400 files without any problem what so ever including the problem file.

Hi Fred, I think you will find the a700 was released in 2007. As regards to the JPEGS I used 100% quality all other settings left at default. I confirm the version I am using is 2020.100

The files were originally taken on a Sony a700 in Sony’s ARW format. They were then converted in Qimage to TIFF format. Qimage has over the years converted to TIFF format approx. 75000 images taken with this camera. I have only just started to convert from TIFF to JPEG in Qimage. After un-installing and re-installing Qimage the problem persisted so I decided to reinstall over the existing installation and tried again [Repair mode in other applications I think]. Success I managed in batches of 40 images to be able to convert from TIFF to 100% JPEGS. However, the out of range message appeared once all I did was to press OK [enhance and filtration box] and all was and still is well. The TIFFs were only adjusted with DFS rad 1 option as they have already been adjusted. I only need to reduce the size to save on storage space. So far 405 images converted successfully.

Hi Fred A, The TIFFs came from my hard drive. Qimage has succesfully converted many hundreds of files taken in the same format, with the same camera in years gone by. I uninstalled Qimage and reinstalled it, managed convert 40 TIFFS to JPEGS, selected another 40 form the same folder and got the out of range message again. Strange!! I will unstall and reinstall Qimage to see what happens. Will keep you posted with the result.
