Thanks for info. You explained things excellently!
Peter PS It's a shame that the M3 is not scheduled for USA release. The M was really a compact toy with excellent picture quality potential. The M3 (I've got one) is a high quality APSC sensor CSC - not perfect, but very good!

Hi Mike
When can I excpect raw conversion for my new Canon EOS60D? (It won't feel right using other software, if QUI support is delayed!!!!!)
Peter
PS I know you usually wait for several iterations of DCRAW before incorporation - any ideas on timescale?

Mike
You seem to have had real problems. I did a dual boot with W7 Professional 64 bit (pre-ordered on the special offers made in the UK when it looked as if we were going to get E versions) retaining Vista on my "main" PC which was well screwed in Vista (e.g. I couldn't install anything new on USB and MS forums only suggestion was to reinstall Vista from scratch), but still has some bits I want to access. This PC was a home brew with an OEM Vista licence from the start and has always been troublesome.
After the hassles of moving to Vista I made sure that 64 bit drivers were available for all my hardware - Vista had everything except for my old Epson 3170 scanner, but Epson has that available. I have not had any real hassles - everything seemed to work straight out of the box (so far, anyway!). Experience suggests that things may well go downhill from now on!!
I do have a Spyder2Express and that worked since I have been indoctrinated in Vista to run almost everything as administrator if you mant it to work at all well (on this PC anyway!)
I haven't tried anything too clever yet, but basic printing appears ok (W7 drivers for my HP8750 printer seem to work ok - no drivers for the card slots, but I've never used those).
I even made Live Mail work straight off without really thinking about it (although I have to admit that I use another PC, still running Vista, for email), but I do think that Thunderbird is better.
Trying to shrink the existing Vista partition is another matter - I have finally managed that with a lot of effort and tinkering using Paragon Partition Magic 10 (MS own tools seem to preclude moving the files Vista has put at the end of the partition which are the limiting factor and protected by the Volume Shadow Service)
I guess I have just been lucky, so far!!!!!

I've only just been able to find time to reply - would have done earlier, but......!
Thanks Mike - this helps me maintain my normal workflow and storage methodology much more easily. I hadn't asked for this feature since others had already done so, but thanks again (usual excellent service maintained!)

Hi Fred
I wonder whether the .jpf designation is someone's (some company's) version of jfif (jpeg file interface format? - standardised jpegs which all current cameras use AFAIK) which should open happily as .jpg or .jpeg. AIUI the jfif does away with all (or most) of the variables which could be introduced into the .jpg and had to be written to the file on generation and decoded on decompressing.

Just dowmloaded v102 & now have the "FlashPipe has stopped working" message. Running Vista Ultimate 32bit - the files which Vista wanted to send to MS implied incompatability with Vista!
I have reset the datafiles to D:\datafiles\ddisoft (I have no access whatsoever to default folder).
I may have a Vista problem - can't wait for the pre-ordered W7 updates next month!

I too am having this problem - I think it is a Vista ownership problem since I don't have access whatsoever to the programdata file catalogue as any user. FP won't minimise or close and only way out is a Task manager "kill".
I reinstalled using a specified file on a different drive - I have my system one one drive and have a working disc completely separate (maybe not necessary, but I have been doing things this way for a long time!). The reinstall worked fine until I restarted the system when it seemed to revert to the previous version and reported the error again. Working fine atm since I have just reinstalled & not yet rebooted!
Hope v2010.101 fixes this!

Just caught up with this thread.
Tom Niemann's PTLens basically does this - the problem of doing all the testing and targets is basically covered by specifying the requirements for test files (on the web site) and requesting users to generate and transfer them to him. Would this approach help you?
PTLens is pretty good at correcting the distortions (not quite as good as DxOptic Pro can produce) but having this facility in QI would be really useful.
