You only need a custom profile if you want the highest level of color accuracy.

Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike! Is there a straightforward way to get Canon profiles for the Epson papers? I would like color accuracy! I especially have a fair amount of Epson Enhanced Matter paper and Epson Premium Glossy.

An off topic question while I have your attention! Is there a way to create a shortcut in Qimage Ultimate for print placement, which as far as I can tell requires going through four sub menus?

Thanks for your help!

Hi--where is the folder _Qimage Settings stored? I would like to back it up.

Thanks.

Hi--Happy New Year to all.

A bunch of years ago I replaced my Epson R800 with an Epson R2000. It printed great photos, though it was fussy in many ways, for example frequently making false readings of OEM cartridges as aftermarket.

Anyway, about 2 years ago it developed an issue I could not repair, for which I took it to my not-so-local Epson repair shop. I had to decide if it was worth the $300+ or so they wanted to repair it, or if I should replace it, and I bit the bullet and did the repair. Since then it worked great, till a couple of weeks ago (I think). I have been having Qimage print purge sheets every 8 days ago, because I can go weeks or even months without printing a photo, and until about a week ago the printouts were fine. Then I went to print a photo yesterday, and it was way off. I checked profile matches, did nozzle checks and head cleanings--several--made sure all the cartridges were pretty full--all to no avail. My nozzle checks fail, my Qimage unclog/purge printouts are now pink and yellow. I am unwilling to put more money into this printer at this point.

At the time I was dithering about repair or replace, the Canon Pixma Pro 100 was recommended to me as an alternative. With rebates it is far cheaper than the Epson P400. Unfortunately I have a fair amount of Epson paper, alas.) The Epson P400 costs $382 with rebate, the Pro 100 $150 or so with a rebate--plus the paper I will have to buy... (the cartridges will be lost in either case, unless I can sell them).

I am interested in people's experience with that printer or other wide format printers.

Thank you!

Thanks Fred, I know my printer has these utilities, and I frequently use them, but I couldn't find Qimage's. The clock icon (which it never occurred to me to click on) has just the info I was looking for.

Thanks!

I seem to remember that Qimage houses printer utilities to test if one's printer heads need cleaning, etc. I cannot find this anywhere now. Does it exist?

Thanks.

Hi Liz,
The utilities tab of your printer driver usually contains buttons to sample/test the heads and nozzles.
The QU contribution would be the White  sort of clock looking icon top right. Just right click o that which opens the famous UNCLOG feature in QU.

Hope this helps.

If you click Help, Analyze Current Settings, it should reset that warning (to being ON).

Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike!

Liz,
For sure there are more knowledgeable Windows 10 people than I, but I checked the Windows 7 machine, and that default monitor selector is there, and I can choose from a list for the default.  If my choice is different from what QU is using, then I am alerted.
I cannot find that in W 10

\\Hi Fred,

Hi Fred,

Yes, I understand that, my default monitor profile is in color management in the control panel. But until yesterday QU alerted me about a difference between that default profile and what QU had set;  there was an option to say "stop QU from giving me these alerts," and I inadvertently checked that option. That's the decision I want to revert so that message will appear again (hopefully without re-setting everything in QU to default).

23  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Finding Monitor Profile Mismatch Check on startup of QU on: September 09, 2018, 08:46:46 PM
Thanks Fred. the reason I want this option is that if I recalibrate my monitor Qimage sees that it was using a different monitor profile from the one I just created, and asks me which one to use. I can always make this switch manually, I guess.

24  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Finding Monitor Profile Mismatch Check on startup of QU on: September 09, 2018, 05:20:11 PM
Hi,

I inadvertently checked the box that said (essentially) "don't have Quimate Ultimate check for monitor profile mismatches on startup." How to I re-enable that check when starting QU? I looked into every menu and submenu and couldn't find that option.

Thanks.

25  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: How to get EXIF/ file names to be printed along with prints on: August 24, 2018, 08:11:12 PM
Hi Fred,

What I had originally done was to create a contact sheet via Recall>Layout>Contact-sheet-25up.tpl. Printing the contact sheet that way did not add the individual file info to my printouts.

Thanks to your tip to look under Edit Page, I found that if I edited each page and ticked "Image info" (probably that's what you referred to as INFO STAMP?), the info I wanted appeared exactly in the way I wanted it to. So I won't reprint everything, but saving this annotated version as an overwrite of the prior job, I can now at least compare my printed contact sheet with the one that appears in Qimage when I recall the job. And I will know what to do next time! Did this "Image info" option move? I thought I could previously enable this via the printing options? In any case, I don't remember having to do this page by page before.

Thanks Fred!

I know I have successfully done this before, but can't seem to make it happen now. I was printing a large queue of small images, many of which had subtle distinctions, so I wanted to be able to identify which ones I wanted to reprint larger. In Edit> Preferences I have EXIF hotbar on (and date is formatted), but that has not accomplished anything. I couldn't find a setting to turn it on under Edit> Preferences> Printing options, or Page formatting, though I did see where one can edit the Print annotation font (which I did). I must be missing something obvious (again!), but where is it?

Thanks.

Liz,
Not exactly sure what you want, but, There's a bunch of EXIF that will print onto the image using INFO STAMP in the editor.
Better than that, if you want it on the print, it's all there in Floating text  Even better to be able to print a bunch of small samples WITH INFO, Go to Custom and click Contact Sheet. You set the rows and columns to suit the size and how many to a page.
If you click Layout you have premade templates that do the same job.

You also have the old green bar rating system where you assign atag to denote which are keepers and how strong.

28  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Remove from queue no longer in context menu for a selected image? on: August 22, 2018, 04:37:57 PM
Where did it go? Wasn't it previously the case that one could highlight an image, right click, and see "Remove selected image from queue" as one of the options, or am I imagining it?  I read here about the Deck, and it seems "Remove from deck" sends an image to the recycling bin, right? All I want to do is remove some individual images from a very large queue....

Thanks!

In my final attempt I don't know if my color management settings were ICM or Off/No color adjustment.

What is the difference, and which should I use? (Historically I have used Off/No color adjustment.)

I installed Fred's alternative profile, and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Did not print with printer set to grayscale/ black and white in the end.)

Thanks so much!
