So, this may be a bit basic but, how do you simply convert a raw to a jpg or tiff in QIU and end up with the jpg as if I had exported from Lightroom? I can print to file but the photo is then placed on paper and if the paper size is not exactly the same aspect ratio as the cropped photo I end up with a jpg file that has white borders.
Ian,
It's all in getting used to something by using it more often.
You wish to make a jpg from a RAW. There are many ways, but the easiest for me is to simply place the Raw in the queue, right click on the image. (Right clicks always give a menu)
Select Convert Image.
See my screen snap. This will create a top quality JPG.
I am not sure if you have cropped the image, so for the moment, turn auto crop off, or uncheck the box in the Convert image dialogue box that says Honor Crops.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Fred and you are correct about using the program more will help. I just was stuck at the beginning
I was looking in the menu bar for a convert to jpg, or export command. Right clicking on the thumbnail did not show the convert command but putting the file in the print queue worked fine.
One anomaly that I would like some one to confirm is that the converted jpg could not be viewed in FastStone my usual photo viewer program. It simply showed as a completely black image although file size and EXIF info could be read???
