16  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Re: Profiling Canon Lide 80 gives a very dark image on: June 25, 2011, 06:20:19 AM
Hi

Yes I have got the corners set right

One thing that is puzzling me is the instructions say the settings to make the initial scanned image are the same ones that are to be used with all subsequent scans, the setting produce a RAW file which is what is producing the very dark scan.

I know its correct to use a RAW file when profiling a printer but it seems wrong to use a RAW file when profiling a scanner, would it not be better to just use a standard TIFF file with all colour management turned off.

To me it looks like something is wrong  The instructions say setup to produce RAW File, yet when the file is opened in PP and are asked is this a RAW file I am supposed to say no if profiling a scanner.

Is there something wrong in the wording in the instructions.

Thanks

Paul

Hello
I am looking for some help using PP to Profile my Canon Lide 80 Scanner with Vuescan

I followed the instructions Within the PP Help file but the resulting image is very dark.

I have followed all the instruction regarding setting up Vuescan to produce 48Bit Raw Files

I have followed the instuctions regarding setting up PP

The scanned image in PP gives some errors in the message box regarding poor exposure and poor white balance.

If I then go ahead and create the profile and try to use it

The Images produced by Vuescan are very dark as they are still RAW Files and converting to profile within Photoshop makes little difference
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter and I look forward to using Profile Prism!

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong.

Thanks

Paul

19  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Cant find Profile HELP on: March 27, 2011, 01:39:36 PM
Hi Guys

Hope someone can help with this

I have just tried to profile a new paper and all went well until I went to find the profile to move it to the profile folder

PP reported that the profile had ben saved as c:\Program files\Prism\ProfileName.icm  The trouble is when I go to the Program Files\Prism Directory the profile file is not there, its been quite some time since I last used this software so I know its something I have forgotten, can anyone point me to the correct location.

I am running Windows 7 32 bit if that makes a difference.

I did search through explorer but that didn't find it either.

Thanks for any help

Thanks for the help with this problem guys

All sorted now and the Lide80 is back working with windows 7

How did I do it

easy peasy

Just dumped 64bit and went back to 32bit

On a plus side I am sure the PC is running faster as well.

Thanks again

H Guys

Just heared back from Ed and its not good news, he says the only way to get it to work is to use Virtual PC Windows XP emulation mode.  The trouble with that is I use Windows Home and that dosent come with Virtual PC Windows XP emulation mode.  I would have to up-grade to windows professional and at £120 thats a no brainer, I might as well dump the Lide80 and get a Lide90 at about £60 as that does come with windows 7 support. Mind you because of there lack of support for the 80 and windows 7 I think I will dump Canon all together and get something else.

Thanks for all your help guys

Thanks for posting those pics terry

I just checked the vuescan directory and there are no drivers in there, I tried installing vuescan with the scanner on and off and it makes no difference, oddly enough it is now no longer giving the no drivers found do you want to intall anyway option.

Thanks for trying to help

Hi Guys

Is there anyway to get a Canon Lide80 to work with Windows7 64bit

Other than "Virtual Box" that is as I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks
