1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Media Size Unlisted [772] Issue on: November 08, 2019, 06:03:00 PM
Fred,

Thanks for the reply!

The printer driver is loaded correctly, and I reinstalled the data from the old computer. It's in a different location than the Qimage default but I've pointed to the file and its saving to it.

After trying some different size prints the unlisted 772 seems to show up when the print is not on standard paper sizes. Sizes that were saved as user-defined in the printer, but because of the new computer no longer exsit.  I will have to add those sizes back into the Epson printer and see if that works. If I knew where Epson keeps the user-defined settings I could move them over from an older computer, which would be a heck of a lot easier.  Smiley

Thanks,
Bob
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Media Size Unlisted [772] Issue on: November 08, 2019, 02:06:31 PM
I built a new computer and re-installed Qimage. When I recall a saved job instead of using the saved media/paper size settings of 13 X 19 it defaults to 8.5 X 11, which is also grayed out. Under media size it shows Unlisted [772] instead of the saved setting of 13 x 19. I'm really hoping I don't have to change all my saved jobs, ugh!

Mike & Brian,

Thanks so much for the help.

It does look like the issue is the different printable area based on the type of paper as both of you thought.  I want to print the cards with only a 1/8 of inch border, but it looks like I'll have to figure out a different way to make it happen.  Cheesy

Thanks again,
Bob

Fred,

Here's the pano template.

Hi Fred,

You're correct on the paper sizing.

The 4880 won't print smaller than a 8 X 10, so to print greeting cards I've had to create a template on a sheet of 8.5 X 11. I then place the images/text on the page as if it was 7 X 10 card stock. I then turn off the "check paper size setting" in the printer menu. Everything prints out perfectly on the greeting card, see attached template.

I'm using the same procedure for the new pano card stock, with a template also.

I cut down letter size paper to 8 X 9 to match the pano card stock for testing. Both the plain paper & enhanced paper are set up as 8.5 X 11 in the printer driver. When I print on plain paper everything prints perfectly, when I change it to the enhanced paper setting, it doesn't, stopping about a 1/2 in short. Both have the paper sizing as 8.5 X 11.

Thanks for helping,
Bob
6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Paper Profile Changes Print Size on: August 03, 2017, 04:08:56 PM
I'm struggling with printing a pano greeting card. I'm using a template, and when I print a test on plain paper, it prints perfectly. But if I change the profile to matte paper it doesn't print the complete image.

The image size is  3.76 X 8.73 when printed on plain paper, when I change the profile to enhanced matte, it always prints shorter. The long end now cuts off at 8.31, not printing the full image.

The card size is 8 X 9 inches. The printer is an Epson 4880.

Does anyone have any idea on what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks,
Bob

Your screen shot of the driver preview proves it is not a Qimage Ultimate issue.  If you open that screen shot, you'll see that the image is perfectly centered on the paper.  In fact, you can count the pixels: 90 pixels of white space on the top and 90 white pixels on the bottom.  If it was Qimage Ultimate's fault, you'd see something like 103 pixels on the top and 77 on the bottom: big difference because there's a big difference between 2.875 inches and 2.125 (which you say you are getting on the actual print top/bottom).

The fact that the driver itself confirms that the photo is exactly centered on the page means this now becomes an Epson problem.  Either it's a bug in the driver or a physical problem with the printer.  QU has already done it's job and the driver even confirms where it knows the photo is located (center of the page) but when the driver prints that centered photo, you aren't getting what is in the driver.  When what comes out of your printer doesn't match the preview in the driver, that's all Epson at that point.  So look for issues with roll alignment because I think a bug in the driver seems unlikely.

Regards,
Mike

Mike,

After running a sheet paper test that Fred suggested it would seem to confirm the problem is with the roll alignment or driver as you suggested.

Thanks,
Bob

Try a sheet of 17 x 24 and see what you get.

Good luck,
Fred

Fred,

Well I just cut a sheet of 17 X 24, and a re-printed, it came out perfect.  So now, it looks like I can concentrate on what's going on with roll paper settings/set-up, as you suggested.  Cheesy

Thanks for you help today,
Bob

Fred,

Not so sure it's a printer issue, but I've been wrong before.  Cheesy  I started working on this project because a friend with a Epson 4900 was having the same issues for a job he was printing, and called me for advice. Even though he had previously printed images on roll paper using Qimage without the margin issues, he couldn't make it work right this time. When I set a job up on my 4880 to see if I could understand why he was having issues, I ended up getting the same margin issue as he was. It seems like the software, either Epson or Qimage isn't sending the correct data to the printer. I've checked the printer, and everything is working as expected, and as I said my friend is having the exact issues. If you have any ideas on what settings on the printer I should check, that would be great.

Hopefully someone else has experienced the same problem, and may have a suggestion to get it working. Thanks for your quick response!

Hi, Fred

Thanks for you reply, the printer is an Epson 4880. I'm using Red River roll paper which is an actual 17" wide, and I've checked the alignment, and haven't see anything that would make me think that's an issue. I've a attached a jpeg of the print preview.

Thanks again,
Bob

I'm having difficulty getting my margins to print the way they are displayed in Qimage. I'm printing on 17" roll paper, with custom paper sizing of 17 X 25", and a print size of 12 X 21.5".  In the printer editor, the location is Center, with top/bottom margins of 2.51" and left/right margins of 1.76'. Print orientation is landscape, with center placement. Everything looks perfect, and what I expect in the window, but it's printing different.

What prints is a image with a top border of 2 7/8" and bottom of 2 1/8". See attached images.

Any idea what the issue might be?

Thanks,
Bob

I used to use MatWorks but it will not run on Win7/64 - http://www.giorgiotrucco.com/matworks.html.

13  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Floating Text: Alignment with guide lines to the ruler? on: December 17, 2010, 05:33:23 PM
I hope this makes sense.  Cheesy

I use a Epson 4880 to print cards, it will not recognize a paper size under 8.5X11. I crop the photo to fit the greeting card stock, and tell the printer I'm using 8.5X11 paper. This creates an issue with were the floating text appears.

I've included a screen shot.

I also would like to have the ability to be more precise in placing floating text in the correct position. Right now it's just a best guess, which usually cost me paper and ink.
