Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Mac version

Will I create a problem if I try the Windows Qimage One Demo on the same system I have Qimage Ultimate on? Is there a kind of upgrade path when Qimage One is satisfying and not all QU has in features is used anyway? Met vriendelijke groet, Ernst http://www.pigment-print.com/spectralplots/spectrumviz_1.htmMarch 2017 update, 750+ inkjet media white spectral plots Hi, Ernst....a late Happy New Year.... I have same question on upgrade path. Would appreciate your comments on little things that may be missing “around the edges” of printing in both. (Currently in middle of project. I’ll have to give it a try later)

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Turn on/off "standard" signature

Thanks, guys.
Actually, as we discuss, the turning on is not as big an issue as the selection and positioning each time.
Terry-M, you are correct. It would be easier if the dialogue remember the last signature and position used.
Hopefully, Mike can add that. It would really make this little item much easier.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Turn on/off "standard" signature
|
on: January 13, 2018, 05:27:06 AM

I have a signature that I like and will use when I want print "signed". I do not want it on all prints....and definitely do not want it to be on accidentally.
How can I easily turn it on. Automatic allows me to select a signature and placement....but I see no way to turn it off if not wanted. Adding selectively in editor makes me pick a signature and select location. Am I missing an easy way?
Also, in searching, I saw some comment by Mike "a bug fix for using copyright/signature with an info stamp print filter', but could not find any more on it.
thanks...John

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Unclog printing with 2 black channels.

The Canon Pro-1000 printer, and others in that series, have separate channels for their black inks. That is, the PK ink has its nozzles and the MK has its. No purging is necessary to use them. However, I believe that the print job must specify which black ink is to be used.
Can the Qimage unclogged use each black?
Thanks, John Hi John, The answer is yes! You make two unclogger setups one for Glossy paper and one for matte. You still use the "copy paper" for the print, but the driver setting thinks it has glossy or matte. I remembered there was a video that touched on how to doit. https://youtu.be/O1LxvZS75fUMake full screen.... Happy new Year, Fred Fred, it does not appear that I can schedule the matte and glossy to print in an alternate sequence. I setup matte to start in two day and print every 4th day. I then set up glossy to print in 4 days and print every 4th day. On reviewing the jobs after setting up glossy, it said the jobs would start printing on the day the glossy was set to (actually 5th day). What am I missing here? How can I check when jobs are scheduled? Selecting different setups does not not show different scheduling info for different (glossy, matte) printers. Also, why, under "print clog pattern to these printers" does none saved yet" still show?

Besides updating the LUTs, SpectraView should be creating a specific profile and atomically assigning it to you monitor. All the apps you mention should pick up the assigned profile when started. Not sure about ACD, but Photoshop is silent about it. Q is silent unless the profile has changed from the last time used...It will then ask if it should use the old or the new one.

XPS drivers consist of two modules: a printer driver and an XPS document interpretter. The printer driver is like any other Windows driver (8 bits/channel). The XPS part is basically an interpretter that takes the XPS document format and creates a print job based on what amounts to XML (text) commands. You can think of XPS as a sort of frontend to a RIP. The XPS module can print 16 bits/channel but it is not a "printer driver" in the usual sense. If you use any program to access the normal Windows "File", "Print" command, you are getting a standard printer driver that has nothing to do with the XPS part. The XPS module is accessed via special plugins beyond the driver.

Mike, is all processing in Qimage done in 16 bit...including printer profile conversions? If I do my raw image modifications in Lightroom, which would be the best steps to print in Qimage? - create 16 bit tiff with prophoto color space? - create 16 bit tiff with ddi color space? - create 8 bit tiff with ddi color space? Thanks, John

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Job recall
|
on: October 08, 2013, 09:22:43 PM
|
When recalling a print job, is it possible to just recall the image without the print settings? Reason is, I will often want to go back an reprint at a different size and/or printer.
Alternatively, is it possible to go directly to the folder where the image file resides?
Thanks...John

What recommendations do you have for DFS for printing?
Just use it with same settings used before? Should we explore changes....if so, what would you recommend and how....and what should we look out for?
Thanks....John

Quite frankly....I have tried lots of varietions....none of which wind up working....will be glad to bore people with examples as soon as I figure out how to load up jpgs.
The Occam's Razor (i.e. easiest) solution to this problem is to provide tokens (same as in floating text) and constant text to be included in the 'detail info'....and to have this text be printed at the bottom of the IMAGE....even as it rotates when print orientation is unlocked.
I would really appreciate if this were considered....
John
