1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / color management on: June 14, 2019, 02:05:57 PM
I have a profiled monitor using Xrite i1 Display.  My print looks good on my monitor.  The print is a little darker when printed.  My printer is an Epson Artisan 730.  I noticed that in the driver there is a check box for "fix photo" which, when unchecked, improves the print a little bit  The color of the print compared to the screen is way, way off mostly because of brightness.  Where do I start?

It came a little late for me.  My older Epson Pro 4000 print head is clogged and probably dead.  So my entire printer is dead.  Epson repair says print heads are no longer made, essentially unavailable, but if available are very expensive.  Then's there the installation cost.  It is fun, and often convenient beyond words, to print at home, but I doubt I will replace my professional printer.  If I am going to print, I want the best archival inks.  I think they are only available from Canon or Epson.  The print heads of large printers fail.  I don't see solutions for the highest quality (archival) inks.  Maybe I am wrong.
3  Mike's Software / Qimage / Printing image metadata on: November 03, 2010, 12:01:23 PM
I want to see word-wrap with metadata.  I print the IPTC core Headline, Title, Description, & Date with each image, usually four per page.

Beyond that, I am tired of printing family photos on my big Epson Pro4000.  I would prefer to set up the pages in Qimage, save them as jpegs, and email them to my local print service.  They do a better job at a lower cost.   But I want metadata included.  For me, that's really important.

Suggestions?
4  Technical Discussions / Printers / non-pro printer that accepts profiles on: December 10, 2009, 10:49:07 PM
I have an Epson Pro-4000 but will probably sell it because it is difficult for me to make it pay for itself.  I would like a small printer for the occasional print and the occasional colored email (I have two b/w laser printers).   It must accept profiles and be compatible with Qimage.  Thanks for your suggestions.
