Thank you Mike..... I did everything 'except' to turn cropping on which to my brain means to make smaller so it just didn't make sense to me to turn it on.

I have another example.  I want to print a 4X3 file (8256 X 6192) to slightly different dimensions (not keeping to a strict 4X3).  I want the file to be 12075 X 8963 (40.25 X 29.877).  This is easy to do in PS or the Canon print plugin.  Qimage will not let me do this even though I specify the exact dimensions for the print.  It will allow the width but restricts the length to 39.83 which is a perfect 4 X 3. 

Is there a way around this?  Or..... do I have to do all of the size changing outside of Qimage and bring the image in at the dimensions I want?

It's been a while since I've used Qimage but have supported it whether I used it or not.  I have the latest version of Ultimate and am confused as to what is happening. 

All of my printing is large and layout is critical as I print on Canvass and museum wrap so the print has to be adjusted to the small variances of the stretcher bars. I decided to test on some older paper I have laying around to make sure that I can get predictable results. 

I'm assuming that I can set the media size regardless as to whether or not that particular size is a size that has been registered with my printer properties.  I created an odd size file (19.75 X 14.81) and set my media size to 24 X 16.  I have a 24 inch roll loaded into the printer.  Qimage shows my file thumbnail having the correct dimensions but when its loaded onto the media page the size changes to (19.47 X 14.61) and it prints that way. 

What is going on?

Any help appreciated.

Will the new feature in Qimage for canvas feed shrinkage work regardless of image orientation?  If an image is fed so that it appears on a roll in landscape with the 'short' side being vertical will Qimage know that this is the dimension that should receive compensation?

Thanks so much for responding.  I found that setting right after I posted the message...... Very frustrating as I thought that by choosing portrait mode that the image would be automatically rotated but it isn't..... at least not on the roll of paper.  I put up with my learning frustrations because I have yet to find anything that prints better than Qimage.  It is an amazing print engine.

I have an Epson 9900 and am printing to 44 inch canvas.  Its been a while since I've printed but have been using Qimage for some time but I've run into a real problem.  I want my image to be printed to 30X40 inches (the image is 4X3 format).  I set the custom setting to knowing one of the widths so that Qimage will determin the other - I have set the short side to 30 inches.  I have set a paper size of 44X 46 inches and want the 30 inch width to be placed on the 44 inch width of the paper and the 40 inch length set to the 46 inch hight of the paper.  I need to do this because I have to have around three inches of overlap on all sides for easy stapling and don't have any 36 inch paper at the moment.  However, Qimage will not let me orient the image so that it feeds vertically onto the roll.  It will only allow me to print with the 40 inches across the width of the roll - giving me only two inches on each side for stapling.  No matter what I do including changing orientation, or changing the custom setting to knowing the long side and letting Qimage determin the short side.  To say the least this is very frustrating as I feel it must be something simple that I've overlooked.  I've wasted six feet of 44 inch wide canvas and hours of time...... this really should be very easy but for some reason isn't. 

Am using 2012.217.  Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you Brian, Mike and Ernst.  I really appreciate all responses.  I can easily live with allowing PS to perform this one way slight distort, but will try the other recommendations.  If I were doing gallery wraps this wouldn't be such an issue but I am doing museum wraps which means that dimensions have to be on the money..... or making stretcher bars to fit.  I initially started out using IT stretchIT bars and then decided that I could make those myself which makes it easier for odd/custom sizes.

Paper feed adjustment is used to compensate for any/some banding issues.  There is no adjustment that I can see to accomplish what I want.  I have to make up almost 1/4 inch to have the print turn out to my specified dimension..... that is why compensation/resizing in one direction is used.  The question remains..... can Qimage accomplish what I want?

I feel very ignorant right now..... I have never thought of using that adjustment for my 9900.  I have also not seen any posts regarding that as a fix for normal canvas shrinkage.... but that doesn't mean that it isn't the proper solution.

I am printing large canvas prints and need a way to compensate for the normal one way shrinkage that occurs.  This is easy to do outside of Qimage by stretching (slightly) the vertical length to compensate for shrinkage.  I usually use 1.01xxx depending on whether I am in portrait or landscape.  I make sure that constrain proportions is turned off and the end result turns out perfectly.  I thought I could maybe accomplish this in Qimage by factoring in my slight stretch when I designate a specific size for my print.  However it doesn't apply my slight stretch.  I wanted to eliminate any interpolation other than with Qimage. I realize I could apply this tiny stretch in PS but that results in a double (even though very tiny) interpolation.  Is there a way to do this in Qimage?

I also checked the print preview box to see if my print preview would also show a sepia toned print based on my previous post settings...... and it does.  I am only posting this so that anyone having difficulty knows that with my settings I get the intended results.

Maybe all of this sRGB stuff is a Mac/Snowleopard/Colorsync issue and not a Windows issue.  There are lots of threads regarding the problems of Epson and Snowleopard.  So far I'm a very happy camper with Win7.

I just printed an RGB image in ProPhoto space with the ABW driver, sepia color selected.  I selected 'let printer driver handle color' in Job properties and got a sepia toned print.  So, maybe with Q, all of this sRGB stuff isn't necessary.  My goal is to get the printer and software to do what I want without jumping through hurdles or doing things that I wouldn't normally do. 

In my previous post I applied an sRGB icc to the printer..... but what is taking control of the print?  Is the ABW driver in control or is Q?  I'll guarantee you I'm confused.  I'm happy that I was able to get the expected results by just using the ABW driver.

I re-visited the LL article and approached this printing issue a slightly different way but with the same results.  The printer driver controls color.  The original profile for your image does not get changed.  In other words if you use Prophoto as your working space then the image would stay in that profile space.  The icc for the printer DOES change and has to change to sRGB or some variant of it. You will have to tell Qimage to list ALL profiles in order to see that color space.  You will get your sepia print or a print that will replicate whatever adjustments you made for ABW.

I stumbled across this post because I have finally built my PC and am slowly moving from Mac to my PC.  I have a 9900 and do print with ABW.  There have been some very informative posts on LL regarding ABW and Epson printers authored by Eric Chan who is one of the software contributors for Adobe.  In the Mac platform it was very important to have an sRGB profile assigned/converted to the file - as ABW wants to see that profile to work properly.  I tried to print a test image using ABW through Q and wasn't able to apply a sepia tint to the end image.  My image profile was ProPhoto.  I then converted the profile to sRGB (one of the long name sRGB profiles in PS).  When I printed the image again I got the sepia tint.  Try it and see.....
