2  Technical Discussions / Printers / Epson P800 putting black ink along edge of print on: April 07, 2019, 10:02:25 PM
Had a problem. My P800 printed an 8x10 image landscape, ie, as if it thought the letter sized paper was put in 11 inch side first, so only part of the image proited on the paper (which was put in portrait), and the rest into the guts. THIS even though all the setting I could find were set to Portrait. Finially fixed this problem by rebooting everything and resetting everything, but then there is another problem, obviously caused by the printer printing off the paper.

On every print after the above problem, there is some black smeared along one long edge of the 8 1/2 by 11 paper. It only goes up about 3/4 of an inch, and is always black. This is on the image, not on the back of the sheet. I first thought it was some extra ink that had gotten into the printer from the above problem, so I left it for a day to dry, and tried again. It's still there, so evidently, it is coming from the fresh ink. I don't see how to clean the print head. Any ideas?

THanks,
Jeff Jessee
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Qimage suddenly prints landscape (as if paper was horizontal) on: January 10, 2019, 06:52:48 PM
I have an Epson P800, mostly print on 8 1/2 by 11. Several times in the last few weeks, when I print a portrait shaped image, it prints landscape, as if the paper was horizontal, so part of the print is off the paper. This has happened when I was printing 8x10 or two 5x7's. Everything I can see on the screen says the orientation is portrait. Orientation and screen under "Properties" say it is Portrait, but the printer prints landscape (which I never have done intentionally with sheet paper. One time, I think the previous job may have been roll paper. Possibly that's a clue.

The only way i have found to solve the problem is to recall a job that printed right, and then put the appropriate images in that job. Is it possible that when just changing back to sheet paper mode, Qimage does not reset everything to "Portrait"Huh?

Thanks,
Jeff Jessee
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Cannot assign a single value to a structure property on: May 26, 2018, 03:05:59 AM
About a month ago, I was converting a lot of large (camera size) images to 256x256 for use in a Mosaic program. I was doing this with batches of about 100 images, and probably did 20 batches. In at least half of them, I got this same error message. I was using the create web-sized images, and when it stopped with the error, the bad file was always one more than the one that Qimage said it was processing.(Since Qimage lies about which one it is processing-it's always processing the next one after the one it says. (Note to Mike-Just change "ing" to "ed", and Qimage will tell the truth about which file it is working on.)

5  Technical Discussions / Printers / Using Unclog feature with Epson P800 on: May 07, 2018, 07:09:19 PM
I have a new Epson P800 printer, so far so good, but would like some advice from those who have had that printer for a while. If not printing very often, how often should one print the unclog pattern? Is once a week enough? (hope it clogs less than the 4800!!!)

Thanks,

Does the new overdrive printing resolution feature show any noticeable improvement on the Epson P800 printer (Premium Luster paper)?

Thanks,

8  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / ssd drive and qimage on: September 26, 2015, 01:04:20 AM
Just got a new computer with a 500 gig SSD C: drive, and a 2 T HDD D: drive. I think I should install Qimage on the C: drive for speed in loading, but I believe all the data (pictures and filters, etc.) should probably be on the hard disk. Anyone using a SSD have suggestions about the best way to set Qimage up?

Thanks,
Jeff Jessee

Bruce-If you send Mike the file, as he requested, I'll bet he can sort it out. And someone else told you how to send large files, if it's too big for email. Try that, and I bet it will be fixed in 2 days max, if it is a Qimage problem!
10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Wondering if QImage Ultimate can do this? on: November 01, 2013, 07:44:31 PM
On my Epson 4800, the length limit of a custom page size is 590 inches. I believe Qimage will handle anything your printer will, assuming you don't run out of memory, and with some tricks, can even do more than your printer specs, by printing images side by side with no space between. The experts on here can help you with the tricks if you need more than your printer driver can normally handle.

11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Print filter applied to web files on: May 03, 2013, 01:03:28 PM
Terry-The monitor IS properly calibrated with a recently made profile, so that it works fine in QU and matches the prints well. The problem is, wonderful WINDOWS is NOT properly color managed, so with a monitor like mine (hp LP2475w), the wallpaper shows up garishly oversaturated and  unreal looking.

But Fred's latest suggestion sounds like it should work, I'll try it.

Thanks,
Jeff

Fred, wouldn't that apply ALL the filters in the image to all the other images, thus causing me to have to re-do every filter to get them back?
13  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Print filter applied to web files on: May 02, 2013, 01:30:18 PM
Just read the docs, and see that if a file already has a filter, the "G" filter will not be applied. Not exactly what I thought, but it won't work for me, as I always have a filter associated with the file that I need in addition to the -saturation filter. Guess I just have to talk Mike into putting an "add print filter" box to check when creating web-sized files. Or would it bother anyone if the print filter was included with the "honor print crops and stamps" check box?

I had understood the "G" filter went in place of the filter that was already on the file, so I would lose the original filter, which is also needed. Is that not correct?

In making wallpaper for my extra-saturated monitor, I need to subtract at least 20 from the saturation. I have a print filter that does that, but it doesn't get applied when I create email-sized jpgs. Other than editing each file, reducing the sat., then creating jpgs, then re-editing and setting the sat. filter back to normal, anyone know an easier way? I've tried print to file, that required even more steps. I guess what I really want is another checkbox in the create email command for "apply print filter". That would be so simple, and these days, simple helps  Smiley
