Also fixes the problem with ratings not being updated properly from the batch editor screen.

Thanks Mike

I can't find a way of adding all the contents of the queue to an album. Its often the case that having selected a bunch of images into the queue, I think, "those ought to be in an album", but then it is hard to go back and re-select them, especially if they came from different folders.

So if there isn't a way to do this that I have missed, could it be a feature request please Mike?

It might also be nice to be able to add to albums from the preview screen.

Thanks Terry. That works just fine.

I'm a bit confused about the profile to profile conversion. I normally print either to a printer or to file applying the appropriate printer profile. But this time I want to print some raw images to sRGB to give to someone who wouldn't understand about the difference between colour spaces.

So I have the raw conversion set up as Adobe RGB as the working space. Does this mean that I have to specify adobe RGB as the input profile for the conversion, and sRGB as the output?

I note in Terry's example above that he has <input> as the input profile. Does that do the same thing?  i.e. take whatever the input profile of the particular image happens to be. So if I had a mixture of images with different input profiles in the queue it would always "do the right thing"?

I can't find any description of <input> in the help (though I'm sure its there somewhere:-)

Would I get equivalent results by using the print to email/web and setting the resolution to be something reasonable?

The "open" button works just fine in all cases. It is only double clicking that is a problem. Neither adding nor removing images from either the "good" albums, nor the "bad" albums makes a difference. Some of the good AND bad have only one or two images, and one of both have a large number (say 50 or so) images.

Adding a new album zzz so it goes at the end of the list works just fine. Adding a new album 111 at the front of the list has the effect that the newly added one fails like the others, but what has now become the 7th album works just fine even though previously it was the 6th album and it failed. i.e. the first 6 fail, and teh remainder work

I can close and re-open Qimage and the behaviour remains.

If, after getting the albums selection window up, I first click on file date, so that the albums are re-ordered, it is STILL the first 6 in the newly ordered list that fail, even though they are now different albums, and the remainder work OK.

Weird!

When you try to open an album by pressing the album button up the top, it opens the album selection window. If you select an album and then press Open, all is well.

However, if you double click on the album name, sometimes it works as expected, and other times it flashes up the expected album in the thumbnails and then almost immediately goes back to displaying what was previously there. I can't see any rhyme or reason as to why it sometimes does one thing or the other, so I'm guessing it is some sort of windows race condition.

If it is any help I'm running Studio edition (obviously) .268 on XP.

Ah, I've just some more testing. I have 8 albums currently defined. It seems that (in this case) any of the first 6 produce the error, but either of the last two work as expected.

That seems pretty solid.
7  Mike's Software / Qimage / Rating in batch editor on: August 10, 2009, 12:01:48 PM
I don't THINK this is specific to the current version (I seem to remember noticing it before, but not being bothered to investigate).

In the batch editor the rating value is not updated to reflect the rating of the image you are viewing. If you move through a queue of images with different rating, it just stay at the same value. So you can't tell by looking at it what the rating was.

If you click on it it does change, and also sets the rating of that image correctly, but now it displays that value for any others in the queue.

It works just fine in the P+ preview screen.

Terry,

Hellooo  Huh?

Terry.

Sorry I fell foul once again of typing a TAB, which causes the message to be sent prematurely :-(

Terry,

I use an eye one 2 on my (about 3 year old) NEC LCD monitor and see almost no drift even over 6 months. Usually stays under 1.0. So what you are seeing certainly looks excessive.

I would have thought that there could be some component value changes in the early period of "burning in" a new device, but I would have expected things to have stabilized by now. Especially, as you say, for an Eizo.

That fixed it. I went to control panel->add remove programs->set program access and defaults

and set the default mail client to thunderbird

et voila!

As Mike said, something must have trampled on the previous setting.

  Thanks.

Mike,
I'll check out the MAPI config and see if other progs can't use tbird.

As for the OS, yes it is XP.

12  Mike's Software / Qimage / Strange email sending behaviour on: July 01, 2009, 07:54:15 AM
Mike,
Probably my system configuration problems here, but sending email copies doesn't seem to be working properly. I'm using thunderbird as an email client and up until recently (say about 261) all was working well when I used it to send email copies. Now (265) it just does nothing. i.e. it creates the image file, and goes to that directory if a say yes when it asks, but nothing is activated in thunderbird to send the message. I haven't changed any configuration (they all say that don't they:-)

No problem, I thought, I'll use the QI internal email sending stuff. So I get the email message screen, and press send and QI appears to hang. Beeps when I click anything etc. Then I click on the Qimage icon in the task bar and up pops an information box with "message sent" OK which had been hidden BEHIND the E-mail message screen. Clicking OK, of course works just fine.

Oh one other tiny thing. When I went to configure the internal email sending I clicked on "send mail directly from Q-image" and then thought better of it, and clicked "send mail using my default program" without filling any of the mail parameters, but it now insisted that I set up a valid SMTP address, even though I said I didn't want to use it. Check in the wrong place somewhere.

Just confirm that it does indeed fix it. Thanks Mike, super responsive as ever.

Hmmmm...

I temporarily installed Qimage on my laptop, and tried it there. Same thing. So maybe it isn't a driver issue after all.

A further potential confusion is that to get the images to display you have to click on where there IS an image. So if you have a folder with only a few images, such that they wouldn't fill the pane, clicking in the bottom right doesn't do anything.

The work around is obvious... always click in the top left.

However, this IS rather time consuming, when searching for particular images, since rather than just clicking through a series of folders to see if they are the ones you want, you have to click the folder then click the thumbs then back to the folder then back to the thumbs.

I can't imagine you would have been happy with this Mike, which is why I suspect it is an artefact of my system.
