'Re:  tell them that for what you pay, you don't want them deciding which emails to deliver and which to throw away!'

OH ....excellent point!!!
plus the other comment 'what else is being held back ?' .....on reflection I recalled some valid newsletters that just stopped arriving.

Well....I 'almost' got to the above suggestion when I inquired about the future.....
This is just a poor tech guy who predominantly deals with the 'usual' so if nothing else this was almost a bright moment in his day, I would image. I think I'll get better result if I write directly to the company. You have given me a kick start here <LOL>
This server has globally blacklisted a server in the past so they have a 'strong policy' which can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.

Thanks for the input.

2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Updating QU-no email- on: March 01, 2013, 09:39:02 PM
Just got off the phone with the server help office. The tech had to do a search on all my not received emails and 'YES'...the ddisoftware.com mail was blocked.
The manner in which their scanning is set up catches some content in the mail which puts it in the blocked section so it never arrives to me.
The tech sent the mail on to me while we were on the phone.
I inquired if I would have to call the tech support EACH time there would be an update and he waffled on that....'not necessarily'Huh??

Getting this incoming address from ddisoftware unblocked wasn't something the tech person could do; it must be a machine automated routine.
I have a gmail address but,  unfortunately, I set it up to route through my regular  hurontel address.

I think I have been through this blockage before and tried another route to contact ddisoftware. Overall its a bit of a pain.
No wonder I don't update often.

3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Updating QU-no email on: February 28, 2013, 02:38:26 AM
My records indicate that Qimage Ultimate was installed Aug 2012 so as far as the updates go a calendar year isn't up.
I have received the email for other updates but today although the pop up message appears the follow up email doesn't arrive.
I tried the link from the website but that wasn't productive either.
There are no blocking devices and the email address hasn't changed

Since I don't print often the version is QU v2013-105

Or am I incorrect and there is a fee to get the current 114?

4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Where do I inquire about my registration number? on: August 10, 2012, 03:44:54 PM
Okay I wrote down those numbers. I thought that was strictly for getting an update.
I have received an email with a similar message AND I have downloaded the current update.

WHEN I install into a new machine there isnt a specific code to type into the software. THIS upgrade number is the QImage registration number then?
On a new machine install I look for 'registered to Rose' ......and perhaps click on 'update now' . There will not be a page with a series of boxes into which I enter groups of numbers for QImage.

I was hesitant to install the update since I couldn't find any stored reference to a specific number to enter.

As well as being a unique printing software there is also a unique style of registring <grin>

5  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Where do I inquire about my registration number? on: August 10, 2012, 03:14:54 AM
New computer is on the horizon and I'm checking all the STUFF that has to be reinstalled.....and respective registration numbers.
Of course I can find all the details for QImage but for some reason QImage U ...not...
I have a saved copy of the confirmed order with an order number but that is not likely the registration number.

So is there an account to look up or is it an enquiry via the main QImage start up button?

6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Trial download installed- ready to purchase- files install inquiry on: July 27, 2012, 12:47:32 AM
The trial version is not in a specific folder . Several files (starting the list with apx.exe and finishing with Unwise.exe) reside at the bottom of the Program Files(x486) on my Win7 professional system. I have one more trial day but I'm considering uninstalling the trial hoping that a purchased download will go into a Program Folder.
I have the original Qimage installed and it can be uninstalled now that I have experienced the much improved routines in QI-ultimate.

If I proceed to purchase and get the unlock registration number will the QImage Ultimate miraculously pop into their own folder?

7  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Crop (without resize)to 1800x 1200 on: July 06, 2010, 08:18:24 PM
I just kept playing around here...and discovered....rediscovered actually...FIT TO  PAGE...which eliminates the small white border area on left and right when its just a regular 4 x 6. The regular doesn't have a thin white border at the top. If it did then I'd leave that as is.
I read your response to another poster about applying negative size numbers and I could play around with that to get the same thin white border on top and bottom to match the sides. I think that is what was messing with my thinking for I was expecting a white border to be on top and on bottom as well as on the sides when I used the 4 x 6 setting.

I know about reduction of quality when messing with images more than once. Its an uncompressed tif format that I'm using which should be okay to edit or change. I didn't really interpolate the image when applying the crop in CS4 since the resize section was unticked. Its a typical Photoshop CS4 crop action for a print ready configuration. I didn't fully appreciate that QImage fits the original into the correct sizing.

I just tried the routine of Edit from Lightroom using Qimage as the external editor and this routine works. The resulting image is saved back to Lightroom as a tif. I apply a colour label and star rating to Print Images (blue+5 star) which sends that image into a smart collection. Unfortunately, I think Lightroom would make a second copy if this image was sent out to QImage a second time so folks might not like that. A straight export would solve that issue.

8  Mike's Software / Qimage / Crop (without resize)to 1800x 1200 on: July 06, 2010, 05:38:25 PM
While reading this forum the other day there was a response about NOT resizing before printing and QImage will  handle the file.
What about cropping that original image (for e.g. in Photoshop) The 3800 wide image can be cropped to become an 1800 x 1200(using 300 p res) for a 4 x 6 image (printing on Canon-Ip4600) I assumed it was not being resized.

I thought I'd be ahead of the game and have these images I need printed to be at 6 wide 4 high BUT I'm getting a 'this image is larger than' in the QI software'.

Should I NOT do this crop routine and leave the original tif at the original size which QImage will put into a 6 x 4 without complaining?

I don't print regularly so I could also be forgetting something .I did open the pdf manual but using the QImage 4 x 6 template and the printer page size results in a slightly less than 4 x 6 and the warning.

9  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: installing purchased QI question on: March 02, 2010, 09:32:19 PM
Okay, thanks. Thought I would just double check.

It seems to me that when this software first came out .....way back...I contacted and at that time the printer I was using wasn't handled by the software. I recall I thought at that time the software was the answer to 'printing issues'

In Feb. 010, a friend had a large printing project for a local library and he began to tear his hair out with 'local printing services' so he bought a Canon printer. I rediscovered QImage and directed his attention to the facilities available. His print project was completed with ease (after the Canon paper profile codes had been translated)

I didn't find the appearance and setup intricate as is described in one of this forum's posts. In fact, I stepped him through the configuration and use over the telephone <grin>

I could send an image from Lightroom to Qimage - save it as a  file (with template) in Lightroom and then print from Qimage and was pleased with the results. The monitor is only profiled with the Windows 7 colour management but the printed images look the same.

10  Mike's Software / Qimage / installing purchased QI question on: March 02, 2010, 08:45:40 PM
I have just purchased the current version and have received the registration code.
Last month (Jan 21) I installed the trial version (#110) which has expired.
I paused and wondered if I should uninstall that expired trial version and install the purchased version as a clean install.

I cannot recall if there were any particular settings (preferences) in that trial session and I don't see a QImage folder in the Windows7(64 bit) Roaming/ AppData.

I couldn't find a FAQ here or in the website
