1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate Wish List / printed manual (PDF) on: March 12, 2019, 07:14:00 PM
I have been using QImage since 1999. Initially I found the printable manual a handy reference guide. It hasn't been updated since 2011 and many things have changed since. Video help is somewhat useful but not easily referenced. I suppose it might be too much to ask the pdf to be brought up to date but how about publishing a supplementary pamphlet explaining what features have been added, deleted or revised? I am sure I am not an outlier and that other users, particularly us "old-timers" would appreciate this help. Please consider it.
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / outdated PDF help file on: October 03, 2017, 05:19:08 PM
I have demonstrated QIU to many people all with the same result. They are interested in the program but are turned off when they download the help file only to learn it is six years old and the illustrations don't correspond to the current version. I agree. Some of us prefer to have, or print out, a manual that is current. Can't the PDF file be made current?
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / bleeding print size choice on: January 28, 2017, 12:59:51 AM
When I choose a print size for a borderless print, should I choose Fit to Page or Fit to Paper? What's the difference?
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / v2017.105 on: October 25, 2016, 11:44:00 PM
Mike posted a tutorial video of version 105 on YouTube but it is not available for an upgrade download. When will that be corrected?
5  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Canon 9000 Pro II/11X14" on: June 11, 2011, 04:30:27 PM
No offense taken. You are a gem, Fred. What would the QI community do without you?
6  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Canon 9000 Pro II/11X14" on: June 10, 2011, 12:04:08 AM
Strange. I compared my advice with Fred's graphics and the only difference I saw was Fred has his orientation set to Landscape (which I don't understand why).
7  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Canon 9000 Pro II/11X14" on: June 07, 2011, 09:44:25 PM
On the lower right section of the QImage window is Print Properties. The white window below that is for your image size assignable through the drop down arrow on the window' right. Select 11 x 14 there.
In the Canon printer's driver (not QI) is where you set your paper size from a drop down box. 11 x 14 is NOT one of the choice so use a larger paper size.

Click the optimal/spaced print icon (just to the left of the lock icon below the page preview).

You are double profiling by having the printer driver use the ICM profile since you have QImage also set up to use that profile. Change it so the printer driver is set to NONE for color management and just let QI handle it.
10  Mike's Software / Qimage / seeing zipped tiff files on: April 23, 2010, 05:20:40 PM
Using QImage studio, when I use the spacebar (or control-spacebar) to preview a file created by Photoshop and save in zipped 16 bit TIFF format, I get an "image read error" message though the image is visible in the preview page window and editor. Can Mike add the ability to preview a 16 bit zipped TIFF image using the spacebar?
11  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Prints with icc much darker than prints with driver colors on: February 07, 2010, 05:14:15 PM
I am using Windows XP with a calibrated monitor and my prints are also too dark. I created a printer filter of +10% brightness and use that to get better matched output.
12  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: black and white clipping points on: December 01, 2009, 07:00:07 PM
Thanks Terry. I was hoping to learn that QI did it automatically as PS is said to do. I already use a print filter to lighten my prints 10% as I find QI prints too darkly. I don't think QI will accommodate two concurrent print filters. I know I can rebuild my current print filter to include the new clipping parameters but that is getting complicated.
13  Mike's Software / Qimage / black and white clipping points on: December 01, 2009, 12:33:40 AM
I usually process my photos in Photoshop and then print them in QImage. Photoshop's levels and curves allow for the adjustment of the black and white clipping points which I used to keep at 5 and 250 respectively. In Martin Evening's book Photoshop CS4 for Photographers he states that since Photoshop makes these adjustments automatically now based on the paper profile when you print from Photoshop, the manual settings of the black and white clipping points are no longer necessary. Since I print from QImage instead of Photoshop, does QImage similarly automatically make the black and white clipping adjustments?
14  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: v2009.260 available on: June 17, 2009, 05:53:08 AM
Well put. Regardless, the problem is now gone so thanks for that Mike.
15  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: v2009.260 available--no more thumbnail duplicate problem on: June 17, 2009, 02:07:30 AM
For months I have complained that QI locks on one thumbnail in a series (if the thumbnail size is moderate or large) and keeps repeating that thumbnail instead of showing correctly for the later files. Mike has kept insisting the problem is with my video card not QI. Now, with this version of QI, and its new thumbnail building algorithm, the problem no longer appears and all the files have their thumbnails displayed correctly in the large mode. I guess, with sufficient patience, even mountains move.
