91  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: QIU as Raw Converter on: November 19, 2010, 03:42:56 AM
Conversion of Raw

I have been converting RAW files at the time of download and they automatically went in the Developed subfolder.  I noticed that EXIF data was not carried forward.

However, by doing the conversion from inside QIU the EXIF data is carried forward in either TIFF or JPG format.

I had been puzzled because Mike had stated that the EXIF data would stay attached.

best,

Fred,

Thanks.  I have been trying to figure out how to convert the RAW files to another format in batch.
I assume that QIU is using DCRaw.
The sharpening and conversion worked like a charm.

Since I already had  TIFF files from the original conversion, this time I converted to JPG.

Ian,
The JPGs showed up properly in FastStone--each and every one of them.  Sometimes I have gotten the black image.  I think that I went in PS Elements and resaved it.

Thanks again,

Vlady

Great!  That makes sense.

Thanks

Fred,

Sorry, but now I'm in a muddle.

Which of the above has been developed by Qimage from raw?

Thanks,

Fred and Terry,

Thank you very much for your help and patience.  Ever since I started using Qimage years ago, I noticed how helpful you were to many of us.  While I don't post often I read especially your messages to see if I can find something useful and maybe solve one of my problems.

Now back to Flashpipe and developing raw.

I worked my way through the Flashpipe problem and thought about your suggestions.

I have Flashpipe via Q Ultimate working.  My big mistake was to assume that everything had been set.  Once I did that and had it working properly, including developing, I went back to Flashpipe stand alone.  I reset the Msconfig and tested Flashpipe.  It worked.  So I have both versions working properly now.

All of these issues arose because I'm giving serious consideration to shooting in RAW and based on comments in various Q Ultimate threads QU was doing a good job developing it.  And I must say it really is.  I had tried RAW in the past and wasn't satisfied with results and all the fiddling that needed to be done.  Mike's QU really simplifies the work load.

Best,
Vlady

1. Now that I have unchecked via msconfig the stand alone version of Flashpipe, the Flashpipe in Q Ultimate does it.

But I would have thought that the Q Ultimate Flashpipe would overwrite the standalone version.

2. I still would like to know how to batch develop raw files in Q Ultimate that were taken and downloaded in the pre- Q Ultimate era.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks,

Using >File  >Save Filtered Image

works.

But it was so much easier in the pre-Ultimate era.
It would seem that Mike could add that function to the Done key for single files as he has for batch files.

Again thanks all.

Fred,

When Flashpipe came out I installed.  And it comes up automatically when I insert a flashcard (SD) into my cardreader.  It takes over from there.

Say, two weeks ago I installed Q Ultimate.  I rather assumed that with Flashpipe integrated in the program that it overrode the original installation of Flashpipe.

I would appreciate you little program to retrieve files from the SD flashcard.  My eMail address is:

I'll raise the other points in this thread after I straighten this out and understand what I'm doing.

Thanks loads,

Vlady

Fred and Terry, thanks,

Let me try again.  I still have Q Studio working so I made three printscreen images of how I work with one image and have saved it successfully.  When I'm done working all I have to do is press the "Done" button in the right column as seen in image #2 and I automatically get the screen providing saving options.

Hope this helps you understanding my frustration with Q Ultimate

100  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Environment/Filter Application Problem on: August 29, 2010, 07:39:43 PM
Whenever I sharpen one image and click on Done it always adds the filter to the original image and is done.  I need to save the work in a totally new file.   When I used Qimage  Studio Edition and pressed Done I would get Environment/Filter Application which provides all the options that are needed.  I should add that when I do batch in QU I get that filter (which by the way is unlabeled).  I would like to get the Environment/Filter Application everytime I press done.  Is this possible?
101  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Batch Developing Problem on: August 29, 2010, 07:33:15 PM
Fred, Terry, or anyone, please help.

I have a HP Pavilion, AMD XP 3200+, 2.19 GHz, 2 GB of Ram, Windows XP Home Edition.
I am using QI Ultimate 1.113

My problem is that I took 151 raw images and downloaded them via Flashpipe. Then it went automatically into Develop mode.   Unfortunately only 43 were developed.  I didn’t realize this until I went into Q Ultimate to work on them.  I tried and tried to find a way using QU to develop in batch the rest of them. Can you guide me in the right direction?

I will add that since this happened I increased the time settings to 30 minutes before the computer goes into either sleep or screen mode.

Thanks in Advance

Sorry,

This belongs in the Q Ultimate forum.

I will place it there

Fred is usually right.  I don't have QI Ultimate loaded.  But I know that with other software this works.  Sometimes selective cleaning of the Registry.  But this is for emergency use only when you need a temporary fix.
105  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Tone Targeted Sharpening for JPGs on: August 17, 2010, 05:23:34 PM
Thanks for trying Tone Targeted Sharpening on JPGs and for showing them.
I've experimented with RAW on and off, but I usually take JPGs when traveling.  Yes I may lose a few, but I'm sure that would happen with RAW shots too.
Now there is more incentive to try Ultimate.
