When I want to load my Raws, do I just click on the number of Raws to remove the brackets?

Ok, maybe a bad question, I'll try to rephrase it.

I have about 20 minutes to load in photos, choose about 150 of and tweak them in Lightroom, and start the slideshow (and eat too if I am lucky).

I shoot Raw/jpg fine/small, can FlashPipe send only the jpg images to a folder (and ignore the Raw's because they take too long to load).

I incorporate a slideshow in Lightroom at events.  I shoot Raw + jpg small.  I load all the jpgs into LR, rate them, and let them display randomly.

Back at the studio, I load all the Raw images into LR, go through my culling process, and then make adjustments individually to about 500-800 images.

Can FlashPipe offer any advantages over my current method?

I don't soft proof in Qi, I make all my adjustments in Lightroom and tweeks in Photoshop.  I work with these programs a lot, and always under controlled ambient lighting conditions.  Maybe my eyes have trained themselves to be able to see what a well saturated and balanced digital image on my monior needs to looks like in order to get a nice print...but I don't need to soft proof at all.

I have recently moved from dreading my custom printing sessions, to loving them, and this credit I give to Fred and Terry.  Here is how my very similar problem was solved.  Just keep in mind that I calibrate my SyncMaster monitor weekly and build custom profiles for each paper and ink type with a ColorMunki, but only use manufacturer inks.

1.  I use the most recent monitor calibration in the Qi Mntr ICC.
2.  I use the ColorMunki custom print profiles in the Qi Prtr ICC and make sure printer color management is off.
3.  I make a print and adjust my monitor brightness and contrast to match the print.
4.  If I change paper I re-adjust my monitor brightness and contrast to match the print.

Although this sounds simple enough there is more to it, but it is only my opinion; for me the printing process begins when I snap the shutter.  Lighting to histogram ratio plays a big part for me, as does the direction of lighting.  This could be lengthy, but basicly it is about exposure and effect, and being familiar with what results from my equipment under different conditions; and having the idea in my mind of what I want my print to look like before I release the shutter.

Also Jacken, you can change the size of an individual print by selecting the print on the preview page and choosing a new "Print Properties" size from the drop down.

Let's say you print an 8x10.  Next, right click on your image (in the Page Editor).  Next select your printer paper settings.  Next click on the "Print Properties" size drop down and choose the size you want.

There may be other ways to get the same result, but this is what I am doing for now.


Actually, also during my cropping and printing, as well as clearing the entire queue at once I am also trying to figure out how to clear out a selected group of images and leave others.

Thanks Fred...I always clear the "View/Print Queue" before setting a new "Print Properties" size.  But, I havent figured out how to clear the entire "View/Print Queue" with one click, is this possible?

Depending on the image, sometimes the crop is not placed where I want it on an image.  Like in a full size image being Auto cropped down to 8x10, if there is too much room on the top I double click the image (in the Page Editor?), then grab and drag the image to re-position it within the crop.


If I leave Auto Crop off, can I manually adjust to define the crop area on the image and then drag the image within that crop?

I am also not sure of your goal, but I am also new at Qi, and have been getting familiar with the cropping functions.

One of the cropping to different size issues I had seemed to work like this, and this is what I am currently doing.  Fred could you please correct me if I am wrong:

1.  Set your crop parameters before you pull your images into the print queue.  First, set up your printer parameters (i.e. paper type, quality, size, choose  borderless option or not).
2.  Choose your Qi "Print Properties" size.
3.  Decide if you want Auto Cropping on or off.
4.  Optional, drag your image within the crop and position it to your liking.
5.  Print.
6.  Clear your print Queue, and reset your parameters for your next crop size and repeat.

Long story short because we are in PP.  I have a wedding photography business and cannot afford to get unacceptable prints. I’m a new Qi user but thanks to Terry and Fred's help, Qi has eliminated my printing issues and I am getting excellent results.  As far as the price, the product is an incredible investment because the forum here is by far the fastest and best support I have ever experienced, and the product outperforms anything I have ever used.
 
I am also a LR user.  I don't recommend printing with LR for a multitude of reasons.  After switching to Qi, using any printing product other than Qi just doesn’t make much sense to me anymore, for another multitude of reasons.
  
However, in response to your question and if you still feel that you must print with LR, you will need to keep your color space consistent. LR uses ProPhoto RGB color space, so make sure you are not embedding the profile and getting mismatches.   Here is a link that can give you a quick overview of LR and color management.

Hi, I am looking for some help with cropping.

I haven't been able to figure out how to position an 8x10 borderless crop on am image.  The auto crop crops the image to the right size, but it is not where I want it.

Is there a way to do this and select which part of the photo gets cropped off?
