Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: dark prints

Ive spent lots of money on an Xrite devise to calibrate the monitor, so If I manually change the monitor density, it will not match the Xrite ICM. Conrad had a great idea to confirm the issue. If the test image is dark too, the monitor is too bright/ The print is correct. Most often I found that profile monitor results are in need of clarifying. I am speaking from on line experience. The profiling gadget needs to be used AFTER you set the brightness to match the print. Then you profile the monitor. That's all I have. Fred

This is likely been discussed many times, but I cant seem to find the right answer. I print most everything in Q these days. The color is correct mostly, but everything comes out dark, a good 2 stops dark from the monitor. I have everything set to adobe RGB including the image files. Im running a canon pro100. Suggestions on how to correct this?.. other than manually?
thanks, dw Assuming that your paper selection is correct, and the matching profile for that paper is correct, the answer 99% of the time is there is nothing wrong with your prints; your monitor is too bright. Try to match the monitor to the print, not the other way around. If your settings are correct, and you are allowing AI t to set your driver, then the print is king. Hold the dried print next to the monitor, and take the brightness down to match.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Dark prints when printing Epson ET-2850 with QImage

Since about a week I also own an Epson P700 and I print with Epson paper and Epson profiles and QImage works perfect! Same version of QImage on the same computer... Obviously, Since all is well on one printer, but not so on another printer, it tells you that a setting must be wrong for that printer. Since Qimage remembers settings, it will continue to use the incorrect setting/ So Mike will need a screen snap of the printer settings, (tab on the upper right), he would want to see the Information of tthe AI and printer settings. Click the gear wheel for that one. t the driver settings. See my samples. Let's start with some info for Mike. Fred

Fine Art. But whenever I have Velvet Fine Art in the media type window, the software will not let me choose roll paper, it defaults to Front-Fine Art. What am I doing wrong?
Works for me here. See screen snaps. After you select User Defined size, then set the size you want in the size box. I chose 32.0 x16.0. The click the check mark to set it. It even finds the correct profile all by itself. See screen snaps and loo at details. I assume you not meddled with the driver, but AI is on by default. Fred

Mike - curious - what Trimmer do you have / recommend? Thanks!
He's probably busy this morning, but both Mike and I use Roto trimmers. Don't get scared by the prices. There's one for us too. Fred

I didn't see your last reply.
Larry, Mike is simply asking for the tif file and a screen shot of what you are seeing. Provide that, and you will have your answer. Fred

best to destroy the printer so that I can buy that bottle ink printer. Cheesy
Good Move. I have two. The G620 Canon and the Epson 8550. I keep wondering about usage usage balancing usage so I dont get any banding or nozzle clogs. We have to ask Mike if this ink is as prone to clogging as the cartridge ink? Fred

I think I am missing a setting somewhere. When I change Media Type, I note that Media Size and paper profile are also changing to whatever I had set the last time I used that Media Type. Is this an AI setting that I can turn off?
Good Question. Profile is supposed to match media type, bu I know what you mean. Let's say I am all set to print and, whoops, I want Luster paper. I change and the size paper changes to the last time. I have to redo orientation and sometime size. I make printer setups for 5 x 7, 8 x 10,, 13 x 19, in horizontal and vertical if it is a media I use often. But let's wait for Mike. He usually has a button I forgot. Stay well Fred
