5641  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Print to File - remember last output folder on: June 10, 2009, 01:02:51 PM
Hello,
When you use Print to File, a box appears giving you 4 selections: User supplied folder and name, Auto naming user select, Remember Print to File folder, and a 4th for special characters.
Those selections work for me.
If you have trouble, please outline your steps one by one, so we can see where we deviate.
Hope this helps.

Terry,
Don't you think it's time you learned English units like inches and yards and miles.?  Smiley

Terry,
Curious what you are looking to see.
I open P2F and I see the rez (200 ppi, my setting) and the size of the print (8 x 10 my setting).
10 x 200 = 2000 x 8 x 200 =1600.
Just curious!! You know. I usually don't get the question right even though I know the answer.  Cry

I sized mine to 250 x 250 in Qimage and it posted fine.
I just wish I looked better. :-) Cheesy

The speed increase is mainly for raw photos.

Hey guys and gals. I have an oopsie here to report.
I was checking thumb rebuild speeds on my Vista Quad core getting abysmal results. Three times slower than my XP machine.
I checked and rechecked, and even after (good advice) waiting for Vista to settle in for a solid 5+ minutes before making any tests, the results were still abysmal.

Then I covered my head with aluminum foil, and a message came through from Qimage.... (guru)
"DID YOU SET THE PREFERENCES TO QUAD CORE IN VISTA?"

Yepper, you got that right. I forgot that detail.
Now I get 157 images 57 secs in XP, and 1:01 in Vista; close enough to be called a photo finish.

With Quad core off in Vista, and many rechecks, 3:39 secs was the best I could get.

I know my bulb is dimming as I get older, but maybe someone else might have overlooked this setting?

OOH, I just noticed that clicking on the small image attachment brings up a larger one. I can see my black birds in the tree as well as the gull.
Hmm this forum thing might become pretty good?
Now if I can only get the owner/moderator off my back!  Tongue Roll Eyes Grin

Terry,
I have the quad core, but I can only compare speed of rebuild from version 209 to this new version.
48 Raws in a folder, took 49 secs in 209, and 21 secs with the new version. I don't have a running copy of 250.

Nor would I buy Photo Shop !!!
But if a certain magnificent programmer of Qimage were to suddenly find a way to put a "clone" tool into Qimage Studio, most of the people that I know that do buy Photo Shop, would not any more, and have the money to buy Studio. Cheesy Wink

Hi Eric et al.
I don't have such a dramatic or or auspicious story to tell, (Experiences), but I like the topic and I think we all have some odd things happen.
I was going to write yesterday, and include the image, but I haven't figured out how to insert an image in my post.

Regardless, here's my strange tale.
I was sort of walking around in an area in SW Florida, near Venice, called the jette by most locals.
Not much to shoot... some boats, some fishermen, and then I spotted this tree with about a dozen black birds perched in various places in the tree.
Not a great shot, but what the heck. I put my Canon 20D up to my eye and as I depressed the shot button, a good sized white gull flew into the viewfinder, and I had a great shot!
Moral of the story I guess would be keep shooting! It's digital, reusable memory cards, and have a lot of fun.
Worst of it all: I have been accused of "inserting" that gull into the shot.

Thanks for the quick reply again. I have a Canon 20D utilizing the camera profile that I got from Mike Chaney's camera profiles, in Raw mode into Qimage and into my R 1800.
Is the R1800 Epson gamut the same as the R800?
I believe the inks are the same.
I generally use Epson Prem glossy and also a lot of Ilford Smooth gloss.

How about paper like Ilford Pearl or Epson Prem Luster?
Any change in gamut when the paper is changed?

Terry,
Thank you for posting this learning tool.
Might I ask, If the gamut of my printer is smaller than my camera's, why should I be overly concerned about huge color space selection when "developing" my image?

Thank you!  I appreciate the sentiment.  I hope this forum becomes the hub for digital photography tech that I have envisioned and hoped for.  I think once it gets started, it'll really take off.

Mike
Great for all... Qimage people and those yet to be enlightened.
