1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / 2018.103 .CR2 thumbnails rendering magenta on: July 08, 2017, 02:55:01 AM
Just installed 2018.103.

All CR2 thumbnails from my 5D Mark IV are rendering in magenta.

CR2 thumbnails from my 5D Mark II are rendering correctly (at least the several I checked).
JPG thumbs are rendering correctly.
PSD thumbs are rendering correctly.

I'm mystified.

2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: v2016.111 issues/comments on: August 14, 2015, 02:25:21 PM
So very glad to see the drop-downs at bottom right of the screen are now larger than microscopic! My aging eyes thank you for that.

Program is showing: "Incisive 2015 skin: 2560x1408, 32-bit, 110 PPI font"

However, my NEC PA271W monitor's native resolution is 2560 x 1440. Don't know what accounts for the vertical discrepancy of 32 pixels. FYI, my Custom DPI setting in Win 7 is 115%. That makes an inch on the screen exactly one inch in length when measured with a ruler. This may be making the the populated text in the drop-downs (and elsewhere) a bit larger than the static field name labels "Mntr ICC", etc. Or maybe it's just my imagination... There's also plenty of real estate to fully spell out "G. Filt." and "P. Filt."

Still wish you would display the paper size selected (e.g. 8.5 x 11) in addition to the addressable size (8.266 x 10.766).
Mike, thanks.
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Dark gray UI in QU? on: November 02, 2012, 03:51:46 AM
Is there a way to set the UI of QU to dark gray, like Photoshop CS6 or LR4? I've tried the various QU skins, and they just don't cut it. They're all way too bright.
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Migrate QI Studio jobs list to QU on: October 22, 2012, 07:19:18 PM
Retiring my XP machine with QI Studio in favor of a sleek Win 7 machine with QU. Any advice regarding what file(s) I need to copy over to retain my QI jobs would be helpful. Thanks.
5  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / Every other year? on: June 11, 2011, 01:33:38 AM
"v2010.210 is a biannual compatibility update: raw support for 27 new camera models (Studio) and updated video driver support (all editions)."

Mike, are you saying that you will only do a compatibility update once every 24 months? Really?

Biannual and biennial mean "every other year."

If you really mean every six months, then the proper word is "semi-annual" or "twice yearly."

Not picking on you at all; I just want to be sure I'm interpreting correctly. Thanks.
6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Announcing Qimage Ultimate! on: July 25, 2010, 01:14:25 AM
Congratulations on the new product. I see some things on the sample page that need to be commented on, but it's too early for me to do that now.

I didn't see the info about upgrade pricing for longtime users of QI-Studio.

Also, since a new fee is now required every year, it would be helpful to know more about that. The free updates with new camera file formats for Studio remains compelling...
7  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Image Read Error with .psd files on: May 30, 2010, 09:26:45 PM
Thank you very much for your reply and interest. The smallest of the problem .psd files, the flattened one containing only one layer, is 69MB. The .psd file from which it was made weighs in at 146.5MB and contains just six layers in two groups (three image layers and three global adjustment layers with empty masks). I'm perfectly willing to share them with you for forensic analysis (watching too much "CSI," I guess), but I can't e-mail files of that size; my ISP rejects them.

Hi Fred,
None of my files contain Alpha channels. Indeed, one of these files is completely flattened, containing only a Background layer and nothing else. These files all open perfectly in PS.

"Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" is set to "Always" in my PS CS3 File Handling preferences. It has always been set that way. Some of these problems with Qimage are with files it has previously opened without problems. Thanks for your suggestion, but the problem would seem to lie elsewhere.
10  Mike's Software / Qimage / Image Read Error with .psd files on: May 29, 2010, 07:36:23 PM
Not sure why this happens...

Using Qimage v2010.208. Getting "Image Read Error" on some thumbnails of .psd files (CS3 on XP SP3). These are not complicated files, none has more than seven layers. In fact, I flattened one to a single layer and did a Save As to a new file name. Gave the file a short name, just in case file name length might be an issue. No luck. Image is not large -- 4110 x 2870. ProPhoto color space, 16-bit. Image was never resized in PS; this dimension was attained by extending the canvas. All of the files in question open perfectly in PS. I did a thumbnail refresh (F5) and a thumbnail rebuild (Ctrl+F5). No luck. I can print from inside PS without problem. Rebooted. No luck. Qimage simply shows the dreaded red "Image Read Error" message in the thumbnails. These are not big files, they range from 69.1MB to 146.5MB. This directory, which resides on my RAID NAS, contains fewer than 25 files -- a mix of RAW, psd, and one jpg.

This actually happens quite often with psd files, going back to when I first bought Qimage Studio Edition in Dec. 2007.

Suggestions greatly appreaciated. Thank you.
