My printer is an HPT120 and HP advised that most Win 10 ,(and other ) problems can be fixed by installing the latest drivers. I have done this, which I previously avoided because the latest ones have been dumed down for simpletons. The result is that Qimage now locks up and only Task Manager (Windows) will get out of the lockup. Restarting the machine doesn't improve things. What might be causing this? Thanks again for an suggestions.

Thanks Fred. I may load Win 8 onto a spare computer and see what happens.

All my profiles have degraded and now produce only badly faded prints. Some are from HP and some are my own using i1Studio and their hardware. All worked well about a year ago.   The only decent print I now get is using "Let printer manage colors" and the Adobe RGB.
Because this effect  happens in Qimage and Afinity and Lightroom I suspect Win 10 updates. Is this a known problem and what might fix it?
Many thanks for any guidance,
5  Mike's Software / Qimage / HP profiles on: August 09, 2020, 04:27:06 AM
Had to reload Win 10 and the list of HP designjet profiles is gone. I can no longer find them online and they seem to be replaced with obtuse "om" files. These om files don't self install. Anyone know what has happened to the profile list that has disappeared from HP sources.
6  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Re: Squares not matching target. on: April 14, 2019, 03:00:00 AM
I made profiles for my printer and can say that they are now easy to make. In the end HP have supplied so many profiles for the T120 that my best made one was about the same as the most suitable HP one. How about that? I can now make profiles without expensive hardware, just an Epson scanner and the amazing Profile Prism!
Thanks.
7  Mike's Software / Profile Prism / Squares not matching target. on: April 11, 2019, 04:38:34 AM
I have  Target R070212 and cannot get the squares that are produced when the 4 corners are set. Thy match perfectly for the printer target but heaps of overlaps for the prism target.
Now this what usually happens for a target of the wrong physical size, but the prism target is off the original color print supplied, and scanned at the same time as the printer target.  What might cause this problem?
Thanks for any help
Worked out the problem. On the Target you must place the "corners" at the bottom of the frame, not at the location similar to the top of the Target. A bit anti-intuitive?
Anyway, it works. I think this program is a tour de force and Mike ought to be recognized for the work he does, at the price he charges.
8  Mike's Software / Qimage / Overall mgenta tint on: April 17, 2018, 04:10:45 AM
For the past couple of weeks Qimage prints done with saved setups are printing with an overall magenta tint.  I've been using Qimage for years and I know about profiles, whether used by Qimage or printing using the printer managing color. I removed all icc profiles from the computer before I tried using printer manages color (Adobe RGB). No magenta cast and a perfect print!

I've spent a week getting new cartridges and doing multiple printer tests, but it registers all OK.  No blocked nozzles or any noticeable faults.
So can I install a previous version of qimage and see if it is the same? Is anybody getting similar issues or is there a known fix?
9  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Image profiles on: March 28, 2012, 10:25:57 PM
Thanks Fred, what I'm really asking is do any embedded profiles interfere with the printing.  For example if I have an image with an sRGB profile showing in Qimage, will it print the same as the same image with no profile embedded?  In both cases I would be using the same printer profile.

The last bit of the question was how do you remove any embedded profile from an image?
10  Mike's Software / Qimage / Image profiles on: March 28, 2012, 10:38:28 AM
When I look at "Image information" in Qimage I notice that many of my images have an srgb profile while others say they have no profile.  For printing, which is correct, if "No profile", how do I remove it.

Thanks in advance.
11  Technical Discussions / Printers / Printing maximum cover. on: April 14, 2011, 01:40:37 AM
I have set paper to "Letter", or 8.5 x 10 inches and I want to print with my Canon ipF6100 on as full an image as I can.  I can't get a 3mm all round print, biggest seems to be 7.99" x 10.62".  Why can't I get it out to 0.118" (3mm)from the edges?   Dumb question but sometimes the obvious just escapes me.  Thanks.
12  Mike's Software / Qimage / PROOFING on: June 13, 2010, 08:34:27 AM
I have a hardware adjusted screen and my ipf6100 Canon prints very close to what I see, color, contrast, shadow and highlights are very good.  But I've often wondered why when I ask Qimage to softproof (Right click on thumbnail, soft proof), the proof image is pale and washed out, and the original looks perfectly Ok and the subsequent print looks like it.

I expected the "Original" to look poor and the "Proof" to look terrific.  Have I just got the terminology wrong, or what?

Thanks.
