Mike and Fred,

Thank you for your help fixing this problem. Sometimes we're spoiled expecting no hassle raw thumbnails.

Mike, the raw files were straight from the camera. Knowing there is a d30 firmware upgrade available is appreciated. Sorry about the double posting; one was meant for you and the other for  Fred. It took me awhile to realize you were working together.

Fred, you are welcome to post the blue image and fix. Your tips were helpful, too.

3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Blue thumbnails with Canon d30 - partial fix on: September 04, 2010, 02:47:28 AM
Mike and Fred,

Thank you for your help.

I am basicly satisfied that I can get around the blue raw thumbnails by doing a fresh white balance and playing around with other settings. I had tried redoing the white balance when I saw the blue cast in the RGB number listings but had not done the new white balance adjustment correctly until now.

The problem may be that QI-U has difficulty dealing with a raw taken by a camera set for custom white balance and the user does not utilize this function ( shoot the white card ) but still shoots pictures in this situation. It is interesting that other programs like LR 3.2 and PSCS3 does not have a problem with this situation.

So this may not have been a wild goose chase for a raw program developer.

4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re:Not able to view Canon d30 thumbnails in other than blue color on: September 03, 2010, 02:24:59 AM
Mike,

Can you make any suggestions to help correct the blue color issue with the d30?

I really would like to use the d30 with QI-U, as it's my travel camera and need to justify my purchase of QI-U for raw work when I had PSCS5, LR3 and QI Studio that work just fine with the d30 and same images.

A number of people have made suggestions, but none have worked. I did notice that not suprisingly when the thumbnail was brought to full size with the info screen on the left, the screen at the bottom showed a big blue cast in the RGB numbers.

Please be patient and help me thru this problem til I get it working so I can get my money's worth and get to try out QI-U.

Thank you.

Walter

Fred,

Thank you for your helpful suggestions.

Tried everything you suggested, including deleting the thumbnail, and the result was the same - a blue image. It was noticed that when looking  at the full screen image with details displayed on the right, the RGB numbers suggested a blue cast. When I tried evening the nos., nothing looked different.

The good news is that the d30 images look fine in LR and PS. It would be nice to get QI-U to work since I just upgraded from QI Studio for what seems fairly big bucks.

Suggestions welcome.

Terry,

Thank you for your suggestion. It sounded like a very good idea, but unfortunately it did not work.

I am open to ideas. As mentioned, true .cr2 raw files open fine.

Mike,

Thank you for getting back to me on the Canon d30 .crw raw file problem.

The files open fine in Lightroom and Photoshop but why not in QI-U? My raw files .CR2 open fine. I've tried changing the monitor settings, changing .crw to cr2 and still the images are blue. Suggestions?

Thank you.

Mike,

Am just getting started with QI-U, though a long time supporter of your QI, PP, etc and noticed that I can't see the raws from an older Canon d30 using the .crw file type. Is there any way you could enable this file type in QI-U as the images appear blue the program? Images from a Canon XSi using the .cr2 file type appear fine in the program (.113 ver).

Thank you.

9  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: QI-U does not recognize older Canon .crw raw file types on: September 01, 2010, 02:41:40 AM
Fred,

Thank you for your help.

Tried different monitor profiles and it didn't help in this case unfortunately.

As it turns out, raw images from a Canon XSI with .cr2 fille types worked fine in QI-U but still could not get the .crw files from an older Canon d30 to look right ( all blue ).

So it seems the problem is QI-U does not recognize the .crw raw files.

It would be appreciated if Mike could enable this older raw file type.

10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Raw thumbnail developing program on: August 31, 2010, 04:55:43 AM
Decided to try out QI-U (next to most recent ver) by uploading some recently shot raws from a Canon older D30 and all I see are blue image thumbnails. I tried it a couple of times from a recently burned cd and the original flashcard with the same result. The images opened perfectly in PS CS3. So what is the problem?

My suspicion is that the program did not recognize the camera type but I don't see any way to direct the program to that camera type.

Suggestions? Thank you.

11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / PDF of QI Ultimate help file for easier printing? on: July 27, 2010, 01:04:53 AM
Mike,

Congradulations on QI-Ultimate! I can't wait to give it a try.

It would be a big help to have  pdf version of the help file for QI-U as some of us might like to print out the entire manual for QI-U. Thank you.

Thank you for being reasonable about your licensing rules for installing QI-U on multiple computers if only one computer is used at a time.

In my opinion, from a pr standpoint, it would have been a nice gesture to extend the discount on QI-U to all prior owners of QI-Studio regardless of when they purchased it even if it would be only 10% if purchased more than 30d ago.

Thank you again.
