Thank you for the prompt reply. Start: 1472mb, Addl: 212, Now:1443.

I've worked out a runaround. I open the files in PS, change the resolution to 180 ppi, and then save to
A image. That works. I noticed that CS 6 Bridge couldn't or wouldn't in a reasonable amount time produce thumbnails of the files. The files were 220ppi originally at a little over a gigabyte, after resizing they are around 540MB. They take a bit of time to load in Qimage but at least I can print them. The printed images are 45x60 including a 2.5

Qimage is killing me. I've got a large job due next week of images that have to be printed, coated, stretched. Qimage won't load the files. The images are photographs 45x65, around 960 mb. Qimage has loaded  similar images, yesterday in fact. When I send Qimage to the folder containing the images to be printed with a new image, The thumbnail representing the new image reads "Loading" for a few minutes and either displays the thumbnail or, currently "Image Read Error." If I click on the thumb and delete it, the thumb disappears and sometimes the image file is also deleted, sometimes not. I get the image as a PSD file and open it in PS and save it to the Image folder as a tiff. I've spent hours on this problem. What could it be?. It the file too big? Why would Qimage load this type of file sometimes and sometimes not?

I forgot to mention that no image appears in my thumbnail boxes anyway; I guess they're too large, around 120mb on average, so the whole thing is a useless feature for me.

Answer to Fred and comment to Mike. The whole name of the file is way more important to me than a thumbnail of it. I don't use the program as a batch editor; I, and a lot of people I know, use it as an image processor. Actually, its main function in my work flow (and I use it about 6 hours every day) is as a lay out tool and as an easy way to assign paper profiles to images I'm reproducing. It's valuable to me because it takes RGB profiles while my other image processor, PosterPrint($4,000+)wants only CMYK which are difficult if not impossible to make for an n channel printer(in my case a 12 channel printer).

The reason I switched to Ultimate is I've never been able to get Studio to print really large files without omitting a block of data. Ultimate doesn't seem, as yet, to have that problem. The other reason is I think Qimage is worth 90 bucks a year. I'll probably go back to Studio for the bulk of my work and turn to Ultimate for the occasional large file.

FWIW I have never used the thumbnails in either Qimage or, later, Qimage Studio. All I'm interested in is the name of the file (and I need the whole name frequently). The thumbnail is useless; I know what the image looks like. I guess i could make the thumbnails big enough to include the complete name. Finally, the thumbs just look klutzy to me; it doesn't seem like a big deal to be able to turn them off but I don't have a clue about programing. Every other piece of software I use uses file names. In my case, file names convey information that a thumb would never be able to; for example a subtle change in color in an area of a reproduction.

It's difficult to complain about a program that's so useful and so inexpensive and I won't.

Is there any way I can change the thumbnails to a list as I could do I QStudio? The thumbs take up way too much screen space and are a distraction. I can live with them but can't like 'em.
