oh yes, I have not a checkerboard to print however a test chart greyscale brom black though to white prints ok as does a image with white in it like snow. if fact what I have done in the interim is look at the image size inc border on the preview the used the specified size dialog to specify a print size minus the border width which then of couse gives the print on a given paper size with a white border

Fred , thank you,
I already
 clear border
used select colour from the colour swatch 255 255 255
selected white from a image with the eye dropper
all have no effect on this problem

further testing also shows that as I move from white toward through shades of grey  black the effect gradually gives way till balck or nearly black prints out correctly as do any colour I select .
18  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / odd border colour using epson 2880 on: March 15, 2012, 04:32:55 PM
Hi guys can any who is using a epson 2880 and ultimate throw some light on this please?
if I select a border to be printed and set the border colour to white, on the ultimate preview page is is correct but on the epson preview page the border is shown as a sort of tan colour and thats what gets printed. But a black border on the preview comes out black , as does a green one etc.
I have looked every where and cannot see why the white border colour [selected by using the drop down menu] wants to print as this tan colour to print and I cannot see where on earth this colour is set, can any one help?
I think a long time ago I selected this tan colour for a border colour but why it is now applied to what should be a white one is beyond me.

Beautiful restoration job. I am Wow'ed

Fred

Thank you , you are too kind.
The customer is very happy as well. with a new frame that we made for him the whole job came out very nicely, lesson to be learned don't leave your art work in a damp garage when you move to a new house!!

Thanks for the offer I have found for some reason that if I use the sepia tone preset in LR develop mode and save it then it gets lost or is not shown unless Lr or PS prints it, however for some reason if i add  a sepia tone in PS and reduce the opacity till it matches the print, flatten the 2 layers it and try Qimage then Qimage faithfully prints it. either something odd with my set up or a Lr anomaly anyway I know next time if I want to print sepia tone how to do it.

here is the original that I had to work with, I cant save any smaller than this with PS so only one image. the original was very grainy which i initially removed but then put back as the task was to try to duplicate the damaged print.
there are some undamaged ares which was what my "sepia" tone is  replicating.
Once I repaired the damage I converted to b/w to remove all the colour casts and then added the sepia gradually to get as close as possible to the faded original which is what the client wants.
what I don't under stand was what setting I have applied or unwittingly set in Qimage that make it ignore the sepia or more probably is converting it back to b/w. It has to be me of that I'm sure as  the program produced two perfect colour prints also water damaged and repaired from the same client.

I selected 2 images to attach to the post and seem to have lost one. I will resend tomorrow as I am not at work now.
when I photographed the original on my copy table the image was much more b/w than the original and I used a sepia filter in Lr to correct the image to match the original. It might not be true sepia but that's what LR called it.
yes image flattened
yes all calibrated , as stated I never normally have a problem with colour in Qimage work flow, therefore driver settings are correct, and grayscale printing is not selected.
I will repost the two tomorrow with notes to apply to each one.
It's not a issue as such as I have printed out what i need, it just  a curiosity as to why.
thank you for the interest and time taken
26  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / sepia tone ignored on: February 24, 2012, 01:48:34 PM
I had a customer bring in a damaged sepia tone to copy/repair so i photographed it and then resepia toned the image in lr to get it same as the original.
when I printed it in Qimage however it came out as a b/w?
So I tried to print in LR and CS5 and it came out fine just like the screen image.
Why did Qimage produce a b/w ? how is that possible?
every thing is calibrated and the Qimage out put normally for b/w and colour is spot on but not with this sepia .
any ideas any one.
images attached.

I said I was doing something daft and I have found it, all sorted not to worry.
28  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / canvas wrap problems on: February 21, 2012, 10:34:06 AM
Hi , I must be doing something very stupid but when I try to get a canvas wrap the printer software creates several pages?
I am trying to print on A3 paper, I have set stretch border one as 1.5 inches and back wrap at 0.5 inches. I have set the paper size as 11.6 x 16.5 inches. on the Qimage preview screen it all looks fine and how I would expect to see it , but the epson r2880  software when set to show the preview has the main image as page one then the stretch edges as separate pages.
what am I missing? I have read and re read the help file and followed it step by step with no avail

Fred, I seems to have started what is looking like a record thread, with the number of pages and viewers.
Thank you for your help as well as to Rayw and Terrym for your input.
I have it working mostly ok  I get the odd funney result but the repeated application of the little red f seems to fix it.

thats the problem, yes I have, several  A3 size on gloss and satin/pearl finish. both from  2mb camera small low res images and size 1600w x 1200h @ 72 pixel per inch] and from Pentax 10 mb images 3008 x 2000 @  300 pixels per inch
I cannot, when viewing from 1 foot away or close up see any difference between printing the10mb images with Lr3.3 or Qimage and in fact neither can a couple of people who I asked to look at the images in a "blind test"
I accept that the old low res images were upsized to a higher standard but again from a 1 foot viewing distance ,[ not unreasonable for a A3 print], there was no discernible difference.
regards
Alistair
