1  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Why do I always get the scissors "Remove Manual Cropping" icon? on: April 15, 2020, 10:32:41 PM
OMG, That was it. Thank you so much, Mike.
I had selected "Fit to Paper"...
Sorry to sound so testy about it. I appreciate your help and love the software!
2  Mike's Software / Qimage / Why do I always get the scissors "Remove Manual Cropping" icon? on: April 15, 2020, 04:26:45 PM
Hello,
Long-time hobbyist user of Qimage.
I have this one issue that has plagued me over the years.
When I add a .tif or .jpg or any image, I frequently get the red scissors "Remove manual crop" button.
Why?!!!!!!
I just clicked on the plus button to add the picture. I haven't cropped it!
I click on the button and it says, "This print has a zoomed manual crop. Remove manual cropping from this print?"
Why?!!!
It's uncropped image; only color adjusted image from a photo editor (LR, PS, etc.)
Please help me get rid of this annoying occurrence.
This just happened on a fresh install of Qimage on my new PC.
Auto Cropping is off, btw.
Thx!
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Rotate buttons not working on: August 10, 2017, 12:08:01 AM
Hello,
This feature never works for me...
I click on either Rotate button (CW or CCW), but the image in the preview never rotates.
The cropping tool is off.
What am I doing wrong?
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Ink and paper selections for scheduled purges? on: February 25, 2017, 04:11:34 PM
Hi All,

I'm just starting to use the purge (unclog) scheduler in Qimage.
I have a couple questions about the setup:

I have an Epson R2400 printer. Since it only uses Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Photo Black cartridges (I do not buy or ever use the MK cartridges), should I only select the C, M, Y, and Black/Grays colors in the setup?  i.e., I should NOT select, Red, or Orange, or Blue, correct?

Also, in the printer properties, should I select plain paper or glossy if I only am going to print these purges to plain paper and am only ever using Photo Black (PK).  (Does that setting somehow invoke PK vs MK?)

Does the choice of paper make a difference?  I've tried using plain paper on both the glossy paper setting and plain paper setting in the purge scheduler setup and the sample from when it was set to glossy paper seemed kinda wet!
Alternatively, should I be using actual Glossy Paper in the printer feed for these purges?

Basically I'm looking for the correct settings when using plain paper for the purges for an R2400 that only ever uses Photo Black.  (or, if I SHOULD be using actual glossy paper, what are the preferred settings for that.)

Thanks for any help!

For your situation there is another way:
Select the image on the page preview, open the Print Properties box with a 2 sec right click.
Make sure the crop button is off and select Fit to Page. Enter a white border of 0.75" with the B setting to keep the overall size and reduce the image size.
To allow for the page margins created by the driver printable area restriction, you will need to reduce the 0.75 " accordingly.
That should do it.

Hi Terry,
I tried your above method and it works great.  Exactly what I need!  Thanks so much!
Dan

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the quick feedback!  I am at work right now, but will check out your alternative methods when I get home later today.  I do love Qimage and am appreciative for the help I get on this forum.  I hope Mike will chime in.

Thanks,
Dan

I found a way around this, but it involves several other steps:  After selecting the 8 x 10 sheet size in Print Setup, add the image to the queue, click on the button to lock print orientation, then click on Edit Page, go to the Size/Loc. tab, then specify "8.50" in the left hand box of "Actual print size", hit the tab key, and then click on Apply to "Selected".  Now I see my image with the long side of the uncropped image 8.5" long on an 8 x 10 sheet, centered.

What I don't understand is why can't I get the same result when specifying one dimension of 8.50" for the long side?

Thanks in advance for any helpful info...

I really like the print quality I have always obtained with the Qimage products; first Qimage Studio, and now Qimage Ultimate.  But I must confess, what seems to me should an easy and intuitive method is NEVER simple...I guess I just don't understand the software.
Scenario:
I have a scanned tiff file in Lightroom (very large).  I right-click on the image in LR, and choose edit in Qimage (Edit a copy with LR adjustments).  I go to Qimage.  I want to to print on 8 x 10 paper (let's say I've been printing on 4 x 6 paper, but for this image I want it on 8 x 10 paper).  I choose the 8 x 10 size in print properties.  The paper size changes appropriately in Qimage. So far so good...
NOW, this is from a 35 mm negative (landscape orientation) and I want the whole scanned image on the  8 x 10 sheet with let's say a 3/4" border on each 8" wide side.  So, 10" minus 1.5" (2 x .75") equals 8.5" for the long side (of the image, right?).  I click on Default print properties, choose Custom, choose Specify One Dimension and enter 8.5" for the long side.  I click OK.  NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!  Furthermore, it gives me a message saying that the specified print size is larger than one page (say what?), and do I want to span it across several pages?  This makes no sense to me.
And the same thing happens if I load the .tiff file straight in to Qimage.
All I want is the full 35 mm aspect ratio (landscape orientation)  image on an 8 x 10 sheet with 3/4" borders on the right and left side of the image (landscape).
Please tell me what I'm missing, because it's very frustrating. Huh?

Ah, very good.  Thanks!
10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / RAW "filter" nondestructive? on: April 17, 2012, 05:46:44 PM
Hello All,
I'm new to Qimage Ultimate (was using Studio version for basic printing).
I'm exploring the RAW editor in QU.
After I edit a RAW file I see that I can right-click and choose "Remove RAW Filters" and the image reverts to its original state.
Does this mean QU is nondestructive in its RAW editing?
I don't want to permanently change my original RAW files and I don't want to have to create a copy of the RAW files just for editing if I don't have to...

Thanks,
Dan
11  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / Re: 4x6 inch prints with white border??? Samsung RAW files? on: September 23, 2011, 11:38:40 PM
Wow, I really appreciate you guys taking the time to respond in such length and detail.  Makes me appreciate Qimage (and community) that much more!

Terry-M's fix is right on the money.  I should have said that I wanted a 1/4" border on both of the long sides of the print.  SPECIFY ONE DIMENSION for the short side REALLY did the trick.
I apologize for the frantic tone of my original post....it was late and I was frustrated...!

As for viewing RAW files from my Samsung TL-500 camera:  it's the same as the Samsung EX-1 (EX-1 is the European model), but I guess I need Qimage Ultimate to get the RAW capability for it.  I have Studio 2010.210 which must not support the camera.

Thanks to all again!!!!

Dan
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / 4x6 inch prints with white border??? Samsung RAW files? on: September 23, 2011, 12:01:58 AM
Hello,
This is making me a little mental...
All of the tutorials show folks adding multiple images to an 8 x 10 sheet.  I don't want that.
I simply want to print single images on 4x6 paper (Epson r2400 with epson paper) and have a white border of about 1/4 inch on the long edge of the print for various aspect ratios files (Nikon vs. iPhone vs. Samsung TL500 cameras)
I've used the "Size/Loc." tab of the full page editor to accomplish this for, say, a Nikon .NEF image (AR=1.5), but then when I load an image from the Samsung camera (AR=1.3), I'm back to no borders.
Please help!  How do I make a preset that always makes a 1/4" white border on the long edge of the 4 x 6 paper (reduces image size WITHOUT cropping), regardless of the aspect ratio of the image.

Also, Qimage Studio (v 2010.210) does not show thumbnails for RAW files from my Samsung TL500 camera (.SRW files).

I love Qimage's quality, but I need a little help....

thanks in advance.
