Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Print speed, ink usage question
|

Printer is Epson P900.
When printing from Qimage it takes considerably longer to print, compared to printing from Lightroom. Even when reducing print res from 360 to 180 (and setting print quality to Level 3 High Quality in the driver) a print takes noticeably longer to print. Why is this? And, does it use more ink than Lightroom. As far as I can tell the prints are pretty much the same. Also, what is the relationship between "print res." in Qimage and "print quality" in the Epson driver?

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Saved printer setup files question
|

I've saved a number of printer setups, following the instructions as in the video (great set of videos, BTW. Lots of goodies I'd probably NEVER discover on my own). However, when I switch setups the paper profile does not update in the "job properties" box in the lower right. For example, if the first setup I pick is Advanced Photo Paper Glossy, when I change to a setup for, say, Advanced Photo Paper Satin Matte, it does not update to Satin Matte in the Prtr ICC box. Is it supposed to update automatically or does it require manual selection of the profile in the job properties box? In the video it does seem to update the ICC profile when a different setup is picked, so I don't know why mine doesn't. And, this happens both on my desktop and my laptop.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Avoiding double profiling

OK, here's the screenshot of the advanced tab in the Z3100 driver. As you can see, under graphic>Image color management>ICM method, it is "disabled." This appears to be the default. In any event, I've tried a couple of prints with Qimage selecting "application managed color" and they've printed just fine. I don't think I've got any double profiling.

(for some reason I'm not able to preview this post, so I won't know if the pic loads). Here's hoping.

Mike, I found another place that mentions ICM under the Advance tab. If you can tell me how to include a screen shot in a message I'll post it and see what you think.
BTW, I found out my printer had 3 bad printheads and since I've replaced them it looks like it's printing just fine. I still have a lot to learn about Qimage, but I think I'm going to like it a lot.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Avoiding double profiling

Mike, in the "Learn by Example" tutorial, you say "The latest versions of Qimage have made double profiling a thing of the past in most cases. The only way to get into trouble with double profiling is to activate a printer profile in Qimage's color management settings while also activating the "ICM" mode in the print driver. Having ICC profiles turned on in both the print driver and Qimage can, in some cases, cause double profiling that can result in oversaturated colors. To avoid double profiling, simply ensure that ICC profiles (or the "ICM" option) is only activated in Qimage or the driver, not both."
I am running Windows 7 64-bit, bith Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5, and using an HP Z3100 and I've just gotten Qimage Ultimate. I can't find where in the HP properties I turn off ICM mode in the driver. Do I select "printer manages color" in the HP driver and then select the profile in Qimage? I'm a bit confused, as you can see.
