1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Borderless error problems on: December 26, 2015, 03:41:06 PM
Hi guys, I am trying to run a print 42" x 74" on an Epson 9890. Max. size for the printer is 44" so good there. I do this on a fairly regular basis and usually problems only come when I have these larger borderless prints.

The vinyl I am printing on is 42". I keep getting an error on the printer side saying there is a borderless error or that the material is not loaded correctly. I have reloaded numerous times with the same result. I don't know where the issue is but usually enough reloading gets its done, though this time it seems ridiculous. Any thoughts on where the problem lies. QI processes it just fine, and I have tried printing from other applications with the same result so pretty sure its not there. I have reloaded drivers as well with no result. I'm pretty well out of ideas here.

Thanks Fred, That worked great. I was looking for a complicated answer when a simple one existed.  Roll Eyes
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / File Info On Print on: May 19, 2015, 05:50:55 PM
I often print multi-section backdrops that are later combined by the customers.  I letter them sequentially A,B,C etc. I have used the File Info option in QI to do this a little more professionally. I think my customers like this and it saves me having to remember to do it. However, I frequently want to print borderless. When I do this it adjusts the bottom margin to allow the Info to also appear. Of course this is undesirable when the customer wants the print to go all the way. Is there any way to get QI to print this in the side margin instead?  I have been looking around the dialog boxes in which file info seems to be covered and I cannot find anything to change the location of this information.

Thanks
Dave
4  Technical Discussions / Printers / 9900 leaving dots on: May 15, 2015, 02:10:00 PM
My Epson 9900 has been periodically spewing dots of various colors on my prints. Usually black but occasionally red dots will appear to muck up a nice blue sky. My thought is that it is likely the scrubber on the print head needs changing. Anyone share this thought or have others? Anyone done it who can provide a little info. I hear it is relatively simple.

After running a number of prints throughout he machine without  problem I am relatively confident the problem is fixed. Now to solve another problem. But that one's in the printers section.

Okay sounds good.  With cautious optimism it looks as if that has worked.  The big job seems to be coming through just fine this time around.  I will make the changes on the other two computer and printer setups so all is consistent across the board.  Thanks again for the help.

LOL yeah but the airline pays me a lot more than the pictures do at this point.  Maybe someday.

So I ran a 24 x 96 through after making hat change and it seems to have gone fine.  I am now processing a 24 x 120 to see how that goes.  It is the same one that gave me a problem last week so fingers crossed and all.

Was wondering, would there be any benefit in simply switching the computers?  Say plug that 9890 into the MAc and the 9900 into the PC to see if the problem exists somewhere in the computer?  I know if it processes okay it should be fine but also wondering if there could be some messed up transfer of data from some other issue in the computer?  Both are running the same version of QI so its just a matter of loading the respective drivers.

Fred when I check both computers I find that box to have EMF-Fast Fusion in it.  I changed it to the RAW setting as you've shown in your example.  I have made the change only on the MAC which is the problem computer and will see if that helps as I print today.

Sorry for late reply, I was traveling for work so had to put this on hold.

First couple prints went okay. Tried a larger one and it processed fine.  THen the machine proceeded to spit out 10' of material without printing anything on it.

Still sound like the wire Fred?  I will do the switch when I get back to the office.

Thanks

Thanks Fred. It is a wire connection.  Just loaded the new driver so will see how that goes.  If no joy I will swap wires.

Fred the image in question is 310 MB.

Mike I will reload the drivers and see if that helps.  QU does load the image entirely and it says it has finished processing.

Thanks
guys

Thanks for the reply

On the MAC i got,

Start: 1579 MB
Addl: 213 MB
Now: 1581 MB

On the other computer,

Start: 2146
Addl: 1585 MB
Now: 2146 MB

I am not certain what all this mean shut there is an obvious difference there.
13  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Memory Problems???? on: May 06, 2015, 04:12:07 PM
Hi all.  Been using QI for a few years on a number of computers and printers.  Currently I am having a problem with my original Mac hooked up to my Epson 9900.

Everything previews in QI just fine and looks like it will print.  But on occasion, and seemingly with the larger files, it is printing out only a portion of the image.  Sometimes it even just causes the printer to spit out the entire length of paper, often up to eight feet.  It's a lot of waste and a bit frustrating.

I have set the jobs up on my other computers using QI and they work just fine so its not the file and its not QI.  If the memory were filling up on the Mac is it possible this would interrupt the process between QI and the printer?  If so is it just a matter of freeing up space on the computer?

Mike its one of the older versions.  Will have to check when I get back to the office but its been a couple years.  Never upgraded as I only really use the program for one thing, which it does quite well.  I am also going to try and reload the printer drivers as that seems to be a common first step.
15  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Having a Problem on: July 03, 2014, 01:01:05 PM
Hi all.  Something in my process went wrong the other day and I'm not sure where the issue lies.

I'm running QI through a MAC with Parallels using Windows 7.  Going to an Epson 9900.

First problem, I start a print job, it processes, and the machine proceeds to spit out the page size with no printing.  In this case a 24" by 74" page.

I noticed on a second run that it started processing but said no thumbs were selected which seemed weird because it typically says it is processing a particular file in sequence with what I have selected to print.  I stopped this job.

Next I ran the job again and found that it stated that it was processing the prints as requested, it then proceeded to print a very small version of the image, and then spit out the remaining six feet of media.

Everything looks fine in the print preview box, and I do not recall having changed anything, I used this same computer and printer without incident just a few days ago, so I'm a bit stumped as to what I've done wrong.

Thanks for any advice.
