1  Technical Discussions / Printers / Can't print from Mac Mojave to Canon Pro 4100 on: May 21, 2021, 04:10:30 PM
Have used this great printing ap for years and all worked well.  Now I find I simply cannot print from my Canon Pro 4100 per Parallels (Latest desktop ver) and by "pass thru" from Mac Printers, or even isolated USB install in Windows 10.  Same for twin Mac Pros and 3 copies of Win 10 + Q.  Any of these drivers appear in Windows and are not greyed out.  Sometimes I get a message "Printer not printing" or equivalent When used from QImage all looks well but get "If nothing printed" message and go thru reset printer and start over with Q's new printer setup.  No joy after doing this.  To be fair, other pass thru printers are fine in Windows (Canon Pro100) but the Pro 4100 will not print consistently from other apps in Windows either.  In fact, I set up Windows 10 in Virtual VM Box (Oracle) with install same version Qimage Ultimate and works perfectly to print.  Only problem is that it is very slow and"clunky."  Really would appreciate any suggestions for localize problem -  Parallels vs QImage vs Windows (file corruption)?
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Original size not maintained to print size on: June 05, 2020, 06:01:45 PM
Size of saved file is 4" X 20" (for instance), when moved to 44 X 59" paper as original size image, the message that it is to large for one sheet etc.  I can get the original size by defining it in "Custom" size but works for only one time even though "original size" is selected as default size.
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Help for Access violation on: January 31, 2020, 08:02:18 PM
I am getting and "access violation for Qimage at address 757F512E in module 'gd32full.dll"   I am not sure what to do to solve this.  This is with newest version of Qimage.

Sorry, but I should have added that I can "kind of" get this done: 1 Select a speceial sized paper (am using rolls on iPF 8300) say 24 X 8.  2. Turn on crop for image and select "Freehand" before moving image at full size (crop on) to the page.  You will get a warning window about reduction or multiple pages -- Do NOT select yes or no  --- just close the warning panel and a crop of the image is present (sometimes a width dimension seems reduced I think).  Now you can overlay (after a warning) a second copy of the complete image dimensionally reduced and move it around until correctly positioned.

All works for me except for the step after selecting the "test print" button.  When I return to the main (Left side) page I am only able to crop dimensions proportionately.  I want a true sized test strip with  maybe only ONE dimension reduced,  say a 7 inch by 24 inch area selected from a 18 X 24 inch image, or a 7 X 15 inch area for example.  I will combine this with a prop reduced image one one sheet for the client proof.   Simply am never able to do except to a crop in PS then save and handle as a separate image in Q.
6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Can't Crop to a Page or Layout Size on: September 15, 2012, 06:22:21 PM
I was able to turn on crop with actual image size and get a cropped portion of the image that I could adjust.  Now I automatically get an image that is resized to the paper size (or a template size) no matter what I do.
This is very important to me as I proof this way, adding an overlaid image as "fit to page" and then adjusting each to be visible.  Fit to page works fine.

Nothing in the driver (iPF8300) has changed like checking the box to fit to size etc.  Any ideas?  J Vee

This second way works best for me.  Thanks!

The "large" print may be any size up to 43.3" X 10 ft+.  Need a 10" X 7" selected portion of this full size image at same resolution on one side of page.

Other side of page with 13X7 template works perfectly for reduced whole image and is no problem.

Thus, the two part proof takes up a horiz space 7" high and 23" wide across the roll.  If needed, I will try for screen shot ASAP (Tues).       Thanks for Help

I think I understand but can't check until back in studio Tuesday.  Since I am always using roll media, is it somehow possible to get the crop into the  2nd "box" (correct size) of the template I made. I can't really use a paper size to crop to.  When full sized image is moved to the preview page (not in template) it will usually be too large in one dimension for my proof page size which is 24 X 60 in for a 24 in roll.  Still can pull at size test strip from this multipage page image?

Thanks much for help
10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Template for Proof Combo of same image on: January 08, 2012, 02:57:11 AM
I generally make a combination proof of an image for my fine art repro clients for approval.  For a 24"roll this would be a proportionally reduced image 13" wide.  The second "box" of template is 10"wide and takes up the rest of the roll width and is a crop selected from the print sized image.

No problem to make & save the two box template, and the first box fills automatically with the whole reduced image.  However, I simply can't get an opportunity to select &/or crop AT SIZE into the second box in any way.  It simply does the same reduced image as the first box no matter what custom settings.

Doing in P Shop but Qimage could save much time in my workflow.

11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Qimage Ult can't find printer profile on: May 12, 2011, 04:26:16 PM
I create printer profiles with QPrint on Mac, copy to proper proper file in Win 7 computer with valid name.  Win recognizes the icc as a profile (by icon anyway) but the profile never appears in Qimage choices.  Have copied same file into "Profiles" in Qimage, still with no success.  Strangely, I have done this procedure once before and the profile was finally recognized after several reboots.  The profile is exactly the same but I did opt for a larger look up table because it is such an important printer/media combination.  Any help?      J Vee
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Rendering Different from Photoshop Mac on: April 22, 2011, 06:50:17 PM
I just started using Qimage Ultimate and printed out an image directly from Photoshop (Mac Snow Leopard) and per Qimage.  Used same printer driver and profile and rel col rendering with all settings for interp at max in Qimage.  The Ultimate print is less contrasty than the PS print.  Now looking at both, I think maybe the Qimage print is actually closer to the NEC calib monitor soft proof.  What is going on? As a newbie with Qimage I wonder if this is a known (?issue ?advantage) feature.  It does mean that I can't use Q for fine art repro prints for customers that were proofed to them by printing from PS directly.  J Vee
