Thank you for your help. Everything works again.

Peter, have you used this method below?
It is specially designed for email change for Ultimate.

http://www.ddisoftware.com/forms/qimage-u.html

Peter, try that link. If it still doesn't work, let me know.

Fred

Yes Fred, I did use that link. I just did it again. This time I sent it from my old email address that is still registered with QU, last week I sent it from my new email address. Maybe the problem is that the new email address is very, very similar to the old one (two digits missing).
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Need Help with registering new Email address on: July 31, 2013, 09:33:12 AM
I have been a registered Qimage user for at least 15 years or longer and I want to stay that way. Problem is that I will change my ISP in September and with that my registered email-address will expire. So I notified mchaney@ddisoftware.com three times since last week and asked to enter my new email-address (that is already working) into the QU-database. Whenever I try to enter my new email-address in the appropriate QU-menue (Help>Registration Info, where it says "... or if you recently notified us of a change in your registered email address, enter the new email address below"), the new email address is rejected as "that email address is not in our database".

What do I do now? My QU-subscription will also expire in September and I would want to renew it rather than buy again as a new user under a new email address.

Sorry to use the forum, but my emails are still unanswered.

Hi Jules,

But why not hive off the processing tools and write a new programme called QShop that just deals with retouching and sell it at the sort of price that you charge for QU?
What a good idea - I'd want it fully linked with QU of course. I think with Mike's unique approach dealing with digital images (eg. smart raw processing, DFS and TTS) we could get a very good piece of software which was not a clone of something else.
Terry

Over 12 years ago I got an outdated version of PS cheaply and have upgraded that every 3 years or so and since arrived at CS 5.1. I will definitely not buy a CC subscription since I don't need all the tools anyway and what I have now (CS 5.1) is way more than I need or have the ability to put to use. What I do need it for is retouching (healing, cloning) and masks/layers while working on 16bit tiff files. I shoot raw exlclusively and I must admit that although I tried again and again I can't seem to get at ease with QU for raw-converting.

I have used and reguilarly updated Qimage for at least 12 years, but only used it for printing and, since QU, for downloading files from the memory cards. I still have my old Photoshop for pixel work and I don't see any need for upgrading until a future version of Windows will render PS CS 5 unsupported. But still, I am looking for an alternative to PS in the QU price range that offers masks and curves and retouching toos and - impotant - works on 16bit tiffs - and is a 64bit application. If Mike was to offer that as a stand-alone application I would buy it sight unseen, just to support him.

On the other hand, such programmes are available: The Gimp (open source, no 16bit ability yet but planned for the next major version), Picture Window Pro 6 (7 beta available for testing), a programme I really like (and own), and of course PS elements (at ridiculous discounts), Paint Shop Pro (at least one special sales offer per week in my emails), ACDsee pro 6, 15 ... (80% off for mothers day). That might not be a nice market to enter with a new product at the moment. As I said, count on me as customer if you can compete with PWP and sell for $90. But Mike will need more customers than me.

Cheers Peter

In case you want W8 to start with your familiar W7 desktop, get "classic shell". You also get your start button. You can download it for free from http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: why do I have to pay again? on: September 23, 2012, 09:19:14 AM
Hi,

not as an anwer to the OP; but the question of the thread "why do I have to pay again?" is excactly what I am asking myself. I got a friendly email from Mike recently reminding me that my subscription period was up. There has been no update versions since July 18th and until there is one that is at least classified as "M" I think I will be waiting with the renewal. Mind you, I am perfectly happy with the product and there is nothing at all that I could suggest to be fixed, exept perhaps a native 64bit version.

I could afford paying now, but I worry a bit. When Ultimate was introduced as a "new software" as opposed to an upgrade to Studio, I did not really believe it (but I have no knowledge of the interior workings of a piece of software) but I payed my price as a way to support the company and future development. It was said then that Ultimate would be updated/-graded frequently. Frequently as we have become used to with Mike was usually at least once a week. That has stopped as of July 18th with v2012.221.

I am just recovering from the demise of Bibble, and I might be a bit paranoid that there could be another Bibble in the making.

Regards
Peter
7  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: If using Lightroom as the additional external editor question??? on: August 28, 2011, 01:43:11 PM
This works quite well for printing 1 picture at a time. I recently sent 35 pictures from Lightroom to Qimage that way. Qimage opens after the first file is converted and has that file on the queue. You still have to wait for LR to finish its export queue. After LR is done converting you still have to select print sizes (unless you have one standard). Instead of calling Qimage from Lightroom I have a preset in LR that converts my files to 8bit aRGB Tiffs 360 ppi, renames them "LR3_Druck_{Filename}" and sends them to a folder called "_zum Drucker". Then I open Qimage and  - since I only print from that folder - all my files to print are there.

I use the same folder as preset folder for my Raw Therapee 4 work queue.

And of course I always empty the print folder after each print job; I don't keep my Tiffs - only if they are further worked on in Photoshop, but then they are saved together with the Raws in the original folder.

Hello Mike,

I have been using Qimage since 2003, Studio from the first day and bought Ultimate last week. I don't need a reward, esp. not 53 camera profiles that I have no use for.

But what I would ask for is the opportunity to buy a profile for my new Sony DSLR-A 500. And I am going to buy a new Panasonic FZ100 for my wife; my daughter has a Panasonic FZ18.

Don't give anything away for free. You support your customers best by developing new profiles, esp. the ones mentioned avove.

9  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: First Impressions on: July 29, 2010, 04:50:56 PM
I have been printing with Qimage for 7 years now. I upgraded to the Studio edition althohugh I didn't really need it for printing just to support the further development of this beautiful programme. I will eventually upgrade (or rather switch) to Ultimate because of the same reason. My first impression with the demo: Just as good as Studio but not visibly better.

Weak points: Qimage (or rather DCraw) doesn't like yellow, orange, red flowers; all other colors seem correct so changing WB doesn't help. As there is no profile for my camera (Sony DSLR-A500) I don't use Qimage for RAW processing, so I am stuck with LR3 and Bibble5.

In "refine RAW exposure" the Fill light and the new WB slider share the space that was reserved for the Fill light slider in Studio: very arkward for my shaky old age pensioner's hands. I would be nice to be able to use the mouse wheel to change values in small increments.

I still don't like to have .qrs and .flt files in my picture folder together with .xmp from other programmes. I would be nice for Qimage to only have one sidecar file. I would also be nice to be able to actually see the changes that you apply in the "RAW format options", esp. sharpening and noise reduction while setting the values.

I will wait a while before I switch to Ultimate and see what future upgrades might bring along
