Technical Discussions / Printers / Black and White Printing work flow in Qimage
|

I thought I had read somewhere about a B&W plugin or profile in Qimage. If so I can't locate anything in my install. I have version 2011.136
Regardless, is there a speficic work flow to print B&W with printers not really known for B&W output such as Epson 1400 and R1900.
Thanks

I have both the 1400 and the R1900.
The 1400 is running on refillable damper carts and inks from Inkjetfly. I produced beautiful prints but have no idea about longevity of the images. It's all in the paper / ink and enviromental conditions. I keep all my prints in boxes and those that are on display are behind glass.
Yes, go for the 1400, they can be had cheap at just about any Staples store. Then go with a good third party ink system so he can afoord to mess around wothout $$$ worries.

Although I have not tried the other profile yet, this particular one does produce almost perfect output on my R1900 and Ultra as well as Premium. Hell it even works with Staples Premium Gloss. The equivalent canned R1900 profile produces a a nice contrasty print that most folks out there would prefer but WE know better.
Your profile opened up the shadows and my highlights had more subtle detail. Color was almost spot on to what I saw on my calbrated monitor ( Colormunki ) I made a specific Profile myslef for Staples Premuim Gloss, Matte.
My glossy profile for the Staples brand almost matches yours. On Epson Ultra Premium Gloss, yours is a dream!!!!!
Will be testing the other profile soon.
