Hi Mike,

I tested out the canvas wraps and it looks much better.  I would prefer for the line to extend to the edge of the print but it is perfectly usable is it is now.  Now I am off to do more prints Smiley

Thanks Fred.

Exactly what I was looking for. I really should look more closely at the QI interface!

Don't worry I have been using QI for over a year and I am still finding out things about the interface.

If you insist in a certain orientation you can right click on the image (on the right side pane) and select Set Print Rotation (Degrees) and choose the same as thumbnail on the fly out menu.
A better way is to click the little padlock icon below the preview; that locks the orientation and so that prints on the page are the same as the thumbnail. Do this before adding images to the queue.

I can set Qimage to 4 x 6 or 6 x 4, ..... to have the 20 landscape images landscape and the 4 portrait images, vertical on the same 13x19" page
Whether they will all fit or not will depend on which auto placement method is chosen. However, a quick bit of mental arithmetic says they wont fit: even if all horizontal, 4 rows by 6 columns of 6x4's is 24x24 somewhat larger than one 13x19 page!

So that is what that little padlock is for.  Well that would have saved me a steps in the past.  Grin

Qimage should be autorotating the images to best fit onto the paper. It does not really care about if the images are portrait or landscape since you are going to be cutting them out.  If you insist in a certain orientation you can right click on the image (on the right side pane) and select Set Print Rotation (Degrees) and choose the same as thumbnail on the fly out menu.

Hi Michael,

The edge markings for folds are not on the correct fold line. I noticed it too, and I hope Mike will be putting it on both border edges, if you get what I mean - it will be as you need it  Smiley. Are you happy with the length of the marks?

Best wishes,

Ray

Personally I would like it to extend to the edge of Border 2, but I can live with it a shorter, just not running into the actual image that would be visible.

v2010.104     12/01/09

Priority: Low

v2010.104 includes the following:

    * Added an option to print center marks and fold marks in borders to assist with canvas wraps.
Mike

Mike,

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the marks to show up on the border of the mirror and the actual image...  The center lines are showing up fine.  Am I missing something?

Border 1 I set to the depth of the stretcher bar say 1.5" with Canvas Edge (Mirror)
Border 2 I set to 2 with white as the color so that I know where I can cut the canvas.

Edges I set to Solid Black line with Center/Fold marks in the Border

Then I print to file just to make sure that it is doing it right and I end up with the center lines as I would expect but the fold marks are placed at the border of the Border 1 and Border 2.  For fun I tried to not use Border 2 at all and the Marks appear at the correct location but they are printed inside the image.  Having center lines appear at the edge of a Gallery wrap would not sell well.  Is this fixable?  You are so close here to perfection.

Hi Fred,

You are correct... It was late and I goofed up some of the settings...  Goes to show that I am still a novice with Q.  So any hints on getting those guide marks Smiley

Also it appears that PTF is stripping the profile from the file when saving TIFFS.

Thanks Mike for adding this... I am missing something though.  I want to print to file and the main part to be 24"x36" with a .6" border tried it all sorts of ways and I just seem to be getting little strips of image called imageName(1,1) imageName(2,1) etc and the main image.  Any ideas.. I still need to drag the file into Photoshop so I can place my guide lines so PTF is my first step.  It seems to be freaking out that I set the PTF dimensions to 24x36 and then tell it to print a border.  I would expect that the print to file image would increase it's dimension and plus show the border.

I agree that the corners should be filled in with the resulting mirror.  The white would easily show on the corners. Also it would be fantastic of there were layout lines placed, where the folds would be and also marking the center of the width and length.  It would help with placement on the stretchers.  I guess the inputs for the GUI would be

the actual width of the stretcher,
the actual width of the stretcher
Actual depth of the stretcher
bleed that would be added to the actual depth of the stretcher or a note to add to the stretcher depth.
checkbox(s) with the placement guides.

based on the above Q would automagically interpolate up or down to the size entered,  crop to fit the aspect ratio and print Smiley  This would save me a ton of time getting canvases prepped to print.  If you would like a sample of what the end result that I have been getting with a PS action I would be happy to send it to you.
12  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Canvas Turn Over Edges on: November 12, 2009, 02:10:04 AM
Count me in on wishing for this Smiley  For my canvas prints I wrote my own action that goes into the image and mirrors 1.6" of the image outward, then it adds guides for the fold marks and the centerline... unfortunately I have not figure out how to turn the guides into printable lines that would knock a few minutes out of my process. Any one know how to do this and you get a copy of the action Cheesy
13  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: 64 bit use on: October 26, 2009, 06:23:25 PM
Would each 32-bit application get it's own 2GB of ram or is that shared across all the 32-bit applications? Such as PS and Q, and Capture NX... I have 4GB of RAM installed but only a little more than 3GB is addressable even with the 3GB switch turned on, anything that I can do to squeeze out a little more life out my be current box would be nice.

Fred,

Thanks a million, that worked like a charm. The strange one was that the next photo printed that evening printed the correct size but the first one was all fouled up and I did not change anything.  Anyway, if you are ever in the Phoenix area let me know and I will buy you a cold/hot beverage of your choice  Grin
15  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / Why are my sizes not matching??? on: October 20, 2009, 10:26:24 AM
I have just wasted some canvas trying to print so I can gallery wrap.  I have my marks all in place so I can fold the canvas over the stretcher bars... so I need to print exactly the size of the image at 300ppi.  In PS the (where I did my gallery wrap process) I get an image size of 27.573in x 39.887 all the marks I put on match perfectly.  Now I took the exact same file and it is showing me 27.13inx39.25in in Q.  I selected Original size when I placed it into the queue and it is on a 44" piece of canvas... what is going on Huh?  Why is it doing this.  I am using the latest print driver from HP and the latest firmware for my Z3100... needless to say I am not amused right now.  Angry
