Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: DVD Labels

Mike and Fred,
Do you have any idea why Sure Thing is cutting the last five percent from the bottom of my lower label.
I'm using (British) A4 labels, design L7760, on an HP Photosmart 2575.
My work around will be to print the top label and then re-use the sheet upside down. But it would be nice to have it working properly.
Other than that - a nice prog. Never as nice as Q, but what is?
EDIT. And what is the way of accurately removing the label from the backing paper and making sure it precisely correct on the disk? I read somewhere about putting the disk on a sponge - is that the trick?

Thanks Fred,
I knew you'd come to my rescue.
You know I do some amdram photography. Over the last couple of years the demand has turned significantly off prints and on to disks.
Suits me as it will be more profitable. So I want to make them look smart.
I'll go for that software you suggest. Must not be mean and penny pinching.
Kind regards from a very grey Sunday.
EDIT. I was recommended to use Deep Burner Free to download my pix to the DVD. I installed it and found it also had a label making facility. At this stage I cannot handle anything too advanced so I'll try this one for starters. But thanks for the pointer anyway.

Mike's Software / Qimage / DVD Labels

I've done a search and come to the conclusion that nobody around here is using Qimage to print labels for DCD and CD use.
I'd love to know I am wrong.
If not then maybe some kind soul could point me to some suitable freeware, please.

Thanks Fred, Passed your message to HRH. She reciprocates - not bad at that age either! I've posted on the other forum. Yes, I could buy another scanner. That's the cheap bit. It is expanding my work area that is the costly element! All the best. Tony www.tonygamble.org/hurlingham - if you want to see what keeps us amused these days.

Mike's Software / Profile Prism / HP Photosmart 2575

Is there anyone around here using one of these All-in-One machines with Profile Prism, please?
I have Vuescan already, if that's part of the answer.
Thanks in anticipation.

Fred,
(voice from the past, here)
I never considered Profile Prism when you first spoke about it as did not have a scanner.
Now I have an HP Photosmart 2575. Would that be good enough?
I'm currently printing with an Epson 2400 but constantly wonder about moving to CIS - which is when I'd need to have some new profiles.
Kindest regards,
Tony

Thanks Terry,
My supplier had that Ilford double sided 200 gm paper.
I'll get a box and start experimenting.
Have a good weekend folks.

Hello Terry and Fred,
Just got round to reading this thread. I guess the word challenge has been keeping me away!!
What weight of paper do you use for your folded cards. I'm pretty committed to Ilford Smooth Pearl and it's 290gm.
I'm happy to get some lighter paper in for Christmas, etc - and in fact now you make the suggestion, I could start home producing the nice little notelets I have been buying from Moo.com

Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Thumbnails seem to be slower to build

Well, now I understand how to stop them building I am not going to be annoyed, as I was at the weekend, calling in a folder of TIF's just to make one print.
I need to look at that cache control. I've never bothered with it before and presumably if one never purges it the file can become enormous over the years.

David, For the sake of clarity I should repeat that I am talking about TIF files that, to my mind anyway, are uncompressed jpg's. I am not talking about the old Canon TIF(F) files which were in other people's language RAW files needing converting. I'm sure you realised that - but simply wanted to avoid others going on a 'wild goose chase' about converting from one format to another. EDIT. I've just seen that there is quite a lot about thumbnails that is/was new to me in Mike's help file here:- http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/qimagehlp/function.htm#thumbbuilderMaybe something for us both to have a fiddle around with!! Mike's Software / Qimage / Thumbnails seem to be slower to build
|
on: July 06, 2009, 01:50:33 PM

I'm using the Studio Edition.
I convert Canon RAW files to 16 but TIF files.
Is it my imagination or has the creation of thumbnails slowed down. I opened a new folder of about 85 images this morning and it must have taken about five minutes to build the thumbnails.
As I only wanted a print from one frame it was a long time to wait.
Is there a new setting that I am overlooking. I know the frame number I want. Do I really need to wait for all the other 84 to load?
Thanks for any help that you can give.
Tony
