1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Cannot Print on: March 30, 2016, 06:29:37 PM
Thank you. When Qimage starts, it says "6 printers found" ?? - at any rate, I selected the one on USB001, which is the ONLY port I've ever used, from the dropdown menu and it works. Not sure why the LPT port was selected by the program, not sure where it's getting 6 printers, but I don't care. It's working now...no doubt it is a Win 10 thing...
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Cannot Print on: March 30, 2016, 05:06:56 PM
Clicking the RED X does nothing. I cleared all documents (even though it showed none present) and I am using the most current driver (ver 6.53). NO CHANGE.

It appears that Qimage is NOT SEEING the printer - when I go into the settings file the "ink levels" is not showing any ink present. It normally shows each cartridge, as you know.
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Cannot Print on: March 30, 2016, 04:29:17 PM
Have not used Qimage since I upgraded to Windows 10. Using current version, I am unable to print. The program processes correctly, I get the "finished processing" note....then nothing. I have my Epson driver set to "print preview" and the preview pane does not show up - the program just stops. All settings in the driver are correct to the best of my knowledge. There is a RED X in the upper right hand corner of the screen saying "Clear spooler/jobs from Epson R260 color" - never seen that before???

I've used Qimage for years and never had a problem with previous versions on earlier OS from Win 98 on up. ALL other programs on the computer are printing correctly.  Any ideas what is going on?

Mike - sent you an email yesterday - haven't heard anything? Thanks....
5  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Unable to Register on: September 04, 2012, 09:43:28 PM
Mike - I'm not on a Mac. Tried resetting IE security to lowest levels across the board and disabling all virus/firewalls/etc. Still won't take the registration. Haven't had any other problems registering and resetting any other programs from my clean format. Please send me what I need to do a manual registration, if you could. Thanks!
6  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Unable to Register on: September 04, 2012, 06:30:11 PM
I am unable to register my copy of Qimage Ultimate. I had to reformat my XP Pro system from scratch. Downloaded the program after submitting my email to this site. Upon starting, I get the “Incomplete registration” notice, asking for my email address. When I enter the address, and press the “Complete Registration” box, I get an error message stating “Unable to establish a connection with the registration verification server. Please try again later”.

If I click “Remind me later”, I enter the program with the 5-second delay message. If I try to register from within the program, using the “help” tab, the same sequence occurs.

I have disabled ALL firewalls and virus checkers (I am only using MS Security Essentials for a virus checker and MS Firewall – since I just reformatted and have not fully loaded all of my software at this time).

Please advise! Thanks…
7  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Previews appear square... on: July 15, 2011, 11:24:35 PM
Thanks for the replies. The old Dell may be finally giving up the ghost as MS rewrites XP for the last time (I see they stopped support last week). I needed an excuse for a new machine anyway since this clunker takes forever to do any reasonable edits of NEF files. Guess the next couple of hundred will go to hardware instead of cameras...thanks again for your help!

EDIT- after a little more messing around, and using the hint about "native resolution", I managed to get it straight.  The monitor I'm using needs 1280x768 to render correctly with the particular driver I'm using (it really wants 1920x1080 but I know my driver won't get that). May have to wait for Win 8,0 now....

I get 6.64 x 10.00, but the image is still square. No doubt a monitor or driver problem. Any suggestions (running XP Pro)...
9  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Previews appear square... on: July 15, 2011, 10:28:03 PM
Here's another screen print. If you look at the area where the photo would be previewed for printing, the selected paper size is 8.266 x 10.766 (an 8x10 print). The box is clearly SQUARE and does not represent a true 8x10 aspect.

Additionally, the first two photos of the clock were taken using a portrait orientation of the camera. The photos again do not show the correct proportions. The third clock picture was taken in landscape format.

The last three photos are 24x30 paintings. They are not even close to correct proportions in the display...

10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Previews appear square... on: July 15, 2011, 10:08:06 PM
After suffering a major computer crash (and yes, I do have backups), when I reinstalled Qimage Ultimate (and studio for that matter), the orientation of the photos appears incorrect.

Specifically, photos taken with a portrait aspect appear square. Photos taken with a landscape aspect appear elongated by width. I have attached two screen shots to show what I mean. The photos are CORRECT on the disk and/or card.

If you look at the screen shots, where the page size is displayed on the right, you will notice the first page shows square, the second on shows elongated wide. The ONLY thing I changed between the two photos what the orientation of the page using the box directly below the preview.

The photos of the clock show the problems clearly. I believe this is some type of display and/or Windows thing, Any help would be appreciated.
11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Losing a file... on: December 09, 2010, 07:34:32 PM
UPDATE -- changed the attributes to "read only" and it no longer gets deleted! Still like to know about a reinstall - what do I lose? I know there is a custom option on the control panel - but didn't see my prt files there.
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Losing a file... on: December 09, 2010, 06:52:25 PM
I haven’t tried any uninstalls yet, but I've tried a few things and found out the pattern. The file is still disappearing, but I know how to do it!! Here's what is happening:

I keep both Qimage and Qimage Ultimate on my PC; Qimage is on the C: drive in the Program File folder, Qimage Ultimate is on my E: drive in its own folder. They were installed this way due to the fact that my C: drive has no room without my doing some housecleaning, which I normally leave for my maid (and she doesn’t do computers)  Grin

When I start Qimage (not Ultimate) the file (lcms2.dll) is deleted from the E drive folder where I keep Ultimate. This requires me to manually add the file back to the E: driver in order to run Ultimate. The file is deleted EVERY time ~ AND ONLY ~ when I restart Qimage (not Ultimate). If I just ran Ultimate there would be no problems since running Qimage (not Ultimate) is what is causing the file to be deleted.

So my question is: How can I get both Qimage and Qimage Ultimate to co-exist on the same machine? If I remove Qimage from the C: drive, and reinstall on the E: drive, what files might I lose? I do see that there are a number of “ddisoftware” shared files in my documents. Will I lose my paper PRT files? Or my layouts?

I’m willing to do a clean install provided I won’t lose a couple of year’s worth of custom paper and/or layout files. Any help would be appreciated.

For now, I’m just keeping a copy of lcms2.dll on my desktop and I drop it into the Ultimate folder after EVERY time I use Qimage and need to use Ultimate. Not too trick, but it works…

Thanks for the responses. I'll give the uninstall a try and see what happens.
14  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Losing a file... on: November 27, 2010, 08:00:58 PM
without rhyme or reason. When I close Ultimate (v105) a file named "lcms2.dll" is being deleted. A file search indicates it is no longer on the drive. When I try to restart the program, I get a "file cannot be found...." error and have to reload the entire program from my last update. The file will then show up on the drive, until I close Ultimate again ~ then I have to reload. The file is NOT being sent to my "trashcan". This file loss does not happen every time I close Ultimate, but it does happen often enough to be a PITA. This started around version 103-104.  Any suggestions? System = Win XP Pro; all updates, plenty o'RAM. thanks!
15  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Thumb sort order on: September 14, 2010, 05:10:46 AM
Well, 120 looks pretty good. At least it now shows the same order ("last edit") I see in my directory on the disk, which I can live with. At least it is back on par with Studio. The basic "problem" is that you and Mr. Gates think like programmers; Nikon and I think like photographers. Gee - it was a software glitch  Cheesy in the last two versions! Who'd a thunk it! And I had another 4 screen shots to send you from version 119...

PS - and, as a matter of clarification, I DO NOT habitually mqke ANY changes using an editor. That only started when I determined that Qimage was not able to sort the same way my Nikon software can.

Thanks for the changes and you're welcome for the debugging....
