Thanks for the suggestions. It's appreciated. I'm having to reinstall my C: drive. Back soon hopefully...

Regards, Paul.

I decided to uninstall Ultimate, reboot, download Ultimate again and install. Somewhere there must be a file that "remembers" the state that Ulimate was before the uninstall because it opened to the same state. Same directory opens, there is 1" of space below the print page boundary, "Poster mode" is indicated, and there is window for disks D:/ and C:/ instead of the database window. Any ideas out there?

Regards, Paul.

Thanks for your reply, Fred.

The printer is a Canon iPF 6400.

The requested print size is 8.5 x 11.

Qimage is reporting at top 8.263 x 9.975. "Centre" is chosen.

No matter what paper size is chosen, there is alway about 1" of space below the paper boundary.

I've got the printer driver set at 8.5 x 11, Qimage the same. Print outline in Qimage show 1" at the bottom of Sample. About 1" margins on sides. Likely an easy answer,  but I can't figure it out.
Thank you.

We moved here about a month ago, Sandy and the speed I posted is typical. It stinks. But YTD work, so that's okay. As we know, YTD won't download Youtube vids from the YT site, but from this site, for some reason unbeknownst to me, the YT vids are downloadable.
Regards, Paul.

It's working and downloading a 223 mb file at the breakneck speed of 29.34 KB/s. I should be able to watch it in about 3 days...

22  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: How to record Ultimate videos to play later... on: December 08, 2013, 11:21:11 PM
Thanks for that Sandy.

I'm having trouble with YTD. I installed it without all the add ons. I went to the Ultimate videos on Youtube, copied the link into YTD clicked the button and nothing happened. I uninstalled, rebooted, downloaded again with the same result.

Regards, Paul.

Hi Terry, thanks for that usful information. I'm using a LaCie 324i monitor and the Blue Eye Pro. I just finished re-calibrating the monitor in our new location. Thanks!

Regards, Paul.

Thanks for that, Sandy. I'm downloading YTD now. Is it working for you?

25  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Printer Settigs need to be Rebuilt? on: December 05, 2013, 05:38:29 PM
Following the exit procedure above, I normally hit the "X" at the top-right. When I open Ultimate again, I get the message that it was shut down wrong and how do I want to open. I hit "normal." What is the proper procedure? Thanks.

I've got a real slow wifi. It's with Eastlink, a Canadian cable company. It's worse than dial-up. What I've been doing is using my cellphone. What I want to do is record your learning videos on my cellphone when in a LTE area and play them back when I'm at home in front of my confuser. I did a search on the Internet and came up with an app called, Tube Video Downloader. I can't get it to work. I'm using a Samsung Note 2 which is an Android device. Any ideas?

Regards, Paul.
27  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Globally brighten group of pics... on: December 05, 2013, 05:23:27 PM
Hi there. I'm back with a new printer. My ipf5100 heads clogged up so sprung for an ipf6400. No issues -- yet! Back to learning how to print again, though...

I'm about to try a roll of 24" matte canvas for the first time. I'm doing a 24 x 36" with a large b&w pic of a lake centred top to bottom, with about a 1" margins. Above and below it are 3 smaller pics of close-ups of brightly coloured leaves. I did a test print on semigloss 8 x 10 and it's darker than I would like.

Is there a way to brighten the entire image rather than having to do each pic individually?

Btw, I'm really liking this latest version of Ultimate!

Regards, Paul.

Hey Terry, you know your way around Qimage!
I'm a veteran (but not as old as Fred) and as some have may noticed, an enthusiastic user of the program.  Grin

I set it to ICC Matching Mode. Hope this is correct, and am not double profiling.
Possibly not.
If you are using a printer profile set in Qimage, it should be set to OFF.
Are you using printer profile? See attached for a typical set of Qimage Job properties with full Colour Management

Hi Terry, thanks once again for your valuable info. I switched from "print mode" to "Olympics Mode." Having re-read this thread and the link you provided has made things much clearer in my noggin. What you pointed out now makes sense. I went into the Canon driver via Qimage, selected OFF.

From within Qimage, in the Print Job menu on the main Qimage page, I selected the Canon paper profile for the paper that I'm using.

++++++++++++++++

There was a similar query on Canon driver settings a few days ago on this thread:
http://ddisoftware.com/tech/printers/printing-problems-with-canon-pixma-pro-9000-mk-ii-in-qimage/msg4416/
There are some screen shots that Fred attached, see the second one down.

In the printer driver accessed from Start > Settings > Printer.
It is best to access the printer driver from Qimage and then Q remembers the settings: 3rd icon in from the right at the top right of the screen.
The other useful feature related to this is that you can save Printer set-ups. So for each paper type, size, etc. all settings are easily re-called.

EDIT: if you are using a paper manufacturers profile or a custom profile from a professional supplier, they usually come with information on how to set the driver.

That thread was very helpful and the screen shot were useful, too.

Hey Terry, you know your way around Qimage!

Actually, I hadn't noticed that menu. I'm getting back into printing after a hiatus, so have been re-reading the Qimage manual. I left everyting at "default," ticked the "enable custom profiles" box.

If someone can help, I have another question regarding printer driver.

My usual workflow is:

I shoot Nikon NEF, open in Capture NX2, might do more editing in CS3, save as tiff, print with Qimage.

Printer is Canon ipf5100.

In the printer driver accessed from Start > Settings > Printer.

In the Color menu, under Color Matcing, the choices are: Driver Matching Mode (Kyunos), ICC Matching Mode, Driver ICM Mode, Host ICM mode, and OFF.

I chose ICC Matching Mode. Hope that's correct.

From inside Qimage, I went back to the Driver to see if anything was different. I went back into the same Menu and found that the choice was OFF. I set it to ICC Matching Mode. Hope this is correct, and am not double profiling.

Regards, Paul.
