Spent some time creating a small flyer with PS Elements, what a faff, multi layers, massive files.
Thought, you idiot, why not use Ultimate floating text.
Job done in a few minutes.

Probably not helpful, but FWIW, over the years I have had that error occur from time to time after having been in QIMAGE uninterrupted for a very, very, long time - I mean hours and hours and having done multiple edits, prints and page setups. Problem was always solved by closing and reopening QIMAGE.
Same here. Close and restart. Jeff

Fred & Terry RB Camera Club. - Ruston Bucyrus - defunct Lincoln UK engineering firm building excavators. All that's left is the Camera Club. see also USA Bucyrus Erie. & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruston-Bucyrus. Progs Tested. Watermark Software.com Watermark Pro Batch Watermark Photos Star Watermark Ultimate Total Watermark Selected as worth using - Ais Watermark. but eliminated as apparently like RB defunct even their payment was system was kaput and the trial ver. had a intrusive watermark the could not be clined out. TSR Watermark 3.6.03 this I found usable without too much help file consultation. With this prog I have a blank 1000x1000 black.tiff as a template and then bang the watermark on this and save to QI cut out folder. Most difficult part is giving a suitable cut out file name and keeping track of same. This is an age related attention deficit syndrome. You experts could achive same with PS. PS Elem. and what have you, but I find them difficult. ?syndrome Jeff

Hi Jeff, Looks like you are nearly there. You could do a very simple one in QU using a plain black image with some grey text with a shadow. See attached, not as smart as your version though! NB> my version cutout needed to be a tif, jpg did not work very well Terry
I have got there in the end, I am not that good with PS Elements and such, used to be able to use Elements 4 in XP days. So went the long way round and installed 6 watermarking progs. After much experimation settled on one and created the required embossed transparent watermark, infact 3 versions - nil transparent, 50% and 75% - works well and not to intrusive. Easy now to create additions versions, and simple and fast to add to images in QI save for web. and upload to site host. Jeff

Thanks again, for your help-your the BEST!!!!!
You still haven't learned. Your wife is the BEST. Even Jeff in the UK knows enough to call his wife SWMBO... She Who Must Be Obeyed Fred I came across the term in a TV play - Rumple of the Bailey. Rumpole of the Bailey is a British television series created and written by the British writer and barrister John Mortimer. It starred Leo McKern as Horace Rumpole, an elderly London barrister who defended a broad variety of clients, often underdogs. The TV series led to the stories being presented in other media including books and radio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rumpole_of_the_BaileyJeff

Hi Jeff but clear embossed has defeated me Would you clarify what you mean by this - "clear embossed"; maybe show a link to illustrate it? Do you want a "signature/copyroght text" in one corner of the image or something larger across the whole image? Terry The emboss would look just like the attached image. To explain - We have a request to place a water mark on images on our club website which I run and I think a QI cut out is the best way to mark images to discourage plagiarism and keep consistant tidy presentation. I would probably need three of four with various placements to avoid faces etc. I am still in the messing about stage. I have got some way to creation with Affinity - 2nd attachment. That is a first attempt at anything serious with Affinity. Thanks for any help, must close down now SWMBO has just called. Back again later today. Jeff

Hello All.
Is it possible to create a clear custom embossed water mark 'cut out'?
I have PS Elements 7 and instruction book for PSE 4 and am struggling.
No problem creating text and © in any colour, but clear embossed has defeated me.

Technical Discussions / Printer Media / Printing on metal

Our camera club had an interesting lecture last week. It was on pure photo shop creation of art work. But the interesting thing was the prints were on metal and of stunning quality, apparently a costly procedure, large prints costing hundreds of pounds £ I did ask if it was possible to shove a metal plate though my canon, apparently not The artist - Gary Nicholls site is at http://g-n-p.co.uk/Jeff

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Auto Crop - I love it.

I used to be very particular about having 100% of the captured images printed only - no cropping. Then in the last few sessions of printing i somehow discovered Auto Crop was on and i love how it uses up all printable areas of the paper and yet my 'vision' of the image is still pretty much intact. My prints actually looked much better with Auto Crop on. Grin
OK but to add to Qimage's talents, let's say that the auto crop was a bit off on centering the subject you want. After all, it doesn't really know whether if cut off anything that you wanted to keep. Go into the PAGE editor, click the cropping tab, and using the mouse, slide the small image around a bit to suit the position you need. See attached screen snaps, and then the video below. https://youtu.be/BFwh267tgs0Fred Is that you Fred? Jeff

Technical Discussions / Printers / Re: prints to dark

I had a Eizo S2110 with a Epson R1900 and prints were almost always too dark it made no difference calibrating the monitor and setting brightness mostly down to 80cd/M^2 or even lower. I came to the conclusion something on my system was resetting the brightness For printing I got over the problem by adjusting the brightness in QI
I now have a new Eizo 24" monitor with hardware calibration same as Terry printing through a Canon Pro S100 with the brightness set to 100 and no dark print problem. I also have a setting (profile) at 80
I still have the original Eizo now coupled to a Linux Comp. So as a test I have viewed an image with this setup.
Screen is way too bright and under linux had to set brightness down to 0% to get similar brightness.
Coupled the original Eizo to Windows comp. and although only the windows desk top background image will show find I have to set brightness to 75cd or lower to get a match but difficult to judge because colours appear to be way too warm.
Work still to do is to get the original screen working with windows and see where that takes us.
So far I think it proves my dark prints were a question of screen settings.

It is perfect on the screen.
You are not alone.... folks have been dealing with this for many years...
Fred
True, I never got screen and print to match. (Eizo screen and Epson R1900) Problem vanished when I upgraded to a Canon 100s and Eizo hardware calibrated screen. Jeff ColorNavigator

Technical Discussions / General Photography Discussion / Re: Photography is dead and mobile phones are to blame. BBC Video

There was an item on the BBC News website today with Wim Wenders speaking which will be of interest to many of you: photography was dead and thinks mobile phones are to blame.Note what he says about printing (and no mention spending money on ink ). Also note what he regards and being creative: photographs should be truthful, not like paintings, and should not be "turned into its opposite". The latter seem to be the fashion in club competition circles here in the UK - take a lousy photo (not creative) and then mess with it for hours in an editor to make it something else. Terry Interesting. I don't enter into club competitions much now, all / most judges seem to look at a photo and only comment on what could be done with it in PS. I have nothing against PS some of the things created by it are fantastic, but it is far removed from a 'photo' I have just been looking at some shots a friend took on a point and shoot set to auto. They were honest shots, horizons not level, note I say level, there is no such thing as a straight horizon as required by judges, blured images, all the faults but there was some good honest stuff as well. As for mobile phones, there are some fantastic photos taken on mobiles. note I do not have a mobile phone So where does that leave us.? Jeff
