Which Cisco's Network Magic do you use? I have xp and vista

Sounds interesting, I gave up trying to network with windows - just too much trouble and unreliable, or so I found.

Further comment

I have not got round to camera profiles yet, I use a Pentax K20 an as far as I can see there is not a profile readily available yet, not too sure I have the necessary to create one.

Hello Fred

Thanks.

I have now got FP susssed out.  I have set it to create a folder structure to match my previous methods.  I use a simple folder naming structure of four digit and a description viz.   0086 FP Test, I have found using an incremental number in effect keeps everything in assending date order.  I shoot everything in Raw,  now using FP I will get the files sorted in to Developed jpegs and raws and duplicate backup to external drive all in one quick go.

From here I can revert to previous operations - create index sheet of jpegs and print and file for reference, put raws through Qimage as required for max quality on seletive images.

Automating the actual transfer from cards will be a great time saver.

Got flashpipe test yesterday.

FP is great for an initial download to comp. - backup and  creating of jpegs or tiffs all auto placed in appropriate folders

Quite a nifty little program and seems to do all you could ask.

However, I have noticed that I can get a better image by putting the raws through Qimage, not surprising I suppose considering the extra controls available.

What defaults does FP assume when developing the raws ?  sharpening etc, color balance etc. (in Qimage Studio I have a small value of sharpening set in the raw defaults, then add further sharpening as I consider necessary and then a further sharpening for a print file.

Expect a purchase shortly.

Hello

I think I have cracked it.

In Job Properties the G.Filter was selected.

How that happened I have no idea, when I have a bit of time to spare I will RTFM and see if I can work out how that button came to be checked.

I had a couple of weeks ago been 'messing about' with Sel.Color to see if I could get a better understanding of the feature.

Many thanks for your help.

Still having trouble with the Sel.Color Tab.

Will have another try later to day, I must be getting thicker in old age.

I have managed to get the Sel.Color Tab locked on to Sepia.clr

Clicking the red cross reverts all values to 1.0

Done> apply filter to current image > associate > OK

Does not create filter so image and sel.color tab remains as sepia

But, repeat above and add 1 to adjust brightness and all is OK

What have I done? and how do I get color back to a permanent default 1.0

I have 'played' with the select color tab and RTFM.  I have had some good results but am in need of a fuller non tech tutorial to get the full benefit.

I asked a painter chap I know but he was of no help as he did not understand digital imaging so did not know what I was on about.  He could real off mixing colors ok but I could not translate into the Qimage grid.

No chance of him testing Qimage.  All our club members consider there is nothing except  PhotoShop or Elements.

That's just what he wants to do, embed the printer profile for a Lab print.  He uses Elements 7 on a Mac.  I have looked at my Windows Elements 7 and can only find the function for embedding a profile when sending image direct to a home printer.

It was for this that I started using Qimage, I then found all the other benefits of using Qimage.

I use Lab printers and always leave Qimage at default 5 additional sharpening and prints always look ok.

If you do your own printing, print a couple of tests one without additional sharpening and one with and let us know what is best in your opinion.
