Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Canon Selphy CP1500
on: April 02, 2024, 04:25:36 PM
Some years ago I played with a Selphy CP xxx, that was connected via USB to an Windows-System. I had an ICC-profil and the results with Qimage have quite good. Now I bought a new printer, a CP 1500. But there was no software or driver. I found out: It is a Mopria Printer. This seemes to be quite a different world. No driver, no profiles. I don't understand this maschine. Ok, printing from my smartphone works via WLAN. Any idea how to use this box from an "normal" windows box. The used driver is a Microsoft IPP-Class-driver. Any idea to solve this issue.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Problem (high sophisticated) with Print Info "Media and Profil"
on: April 27, 2023, 07:15:52 AM
Let me first state that I like this option. I don't know when this option was introduced. Yesterday I had to create a better icc-profile with the "Munky-tool". To compare the new profil with the old one, I put one image twice on a page and activated Print Info with Media and Profil. So far it works as expected. The profil from the Printer and Settings tab are shown. Next Step I used the Fulll Page Editor to change the icc-profile for one of the images (Custom Color Management Settings). Problem/Design/Glicht: This new icc-profile ist not shown with the Print Info. But it is naturally applied for the print and the softproof.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate Wish List / RFC: More Floating text sets, saving the text "layout", more variables
on: April 09, 2023, 03:58:50 PM
I really like the floating-text tool to add text information to a print. - use one floating text to print a headline upon the print (IPTC Headline $H or IPTC Title $T) - use another floating text to give some information about the subject of the image (i.e. IPTC Caption, IPTC Keywords, Copyright) - use another floating text to give some information about some technical data of the taken image (i.e. camera, focal length, ..) - use another floating text to give some information about the printing-parameter (i.e. paper, icc-profile, printer,... there are so far no variables defined)
So I propose to make it possible to save (and recall) different floating text-files. These information is mostly in the log files, but cannot be accessed by the flotaing text tool. I think a directory containing user-defined floating-text files might be a flexible solution.

p.s.: I maintain all the exif and .xmp data with the DAM-tool IMatch. So I don't asked for another tool to maintain metadata.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: suport for apple file format
on: August 23, 2019, 07:05:27 PM

As far as I know it is a fully proprietary format, what is bad. But even worst, it is protected by many copyrights. So the only persons that have a benefit from this format are the financial departements of apple and google and other big software player that try to make us dependent on there products. So my advice: don't use this format!

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Characters or poorly rendered/Print Info
on: July 14, 2019, 12:47:41 PM

I don't think that it might be a problem of the viewer. The image of my starting post is a 100% crop from the "printed to file"-file. Therefor there should be no interpolation of the viewer thats spoils the image. I printed to file with 300PPI. This means that the characters have to be scaled to this 300PPI by Qimage. This scaling works fine with Floating Text but not with the Print info.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / RFP (request for proposal) Printing of PDFs
on: June 16, 2019, 02:30:54 PM
Qimage does not support the printing of PDFs. I understand the reasons why. And thats ok. Please no discussion about this. But nevertheless sometimes I have the need to print PDFs (mostly PDF/X-4) on different papers. What might be a good tool (as good as Qimage for jpg, tiffs, raws ) for printing PDFs using icc-profiles for the different papers?
Thanks Winfried
