46  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Retrieval of Floating Text and independant rotation of image. on: July 22, 2009, 07:24:13 AM
It seems that I have found the right thread for my question how to build up a template similar to the layout used by Brooks Jensen: http://www.brooksjensenarts.com/singleimages/fullsheet.htm
To insert the custom title for each image I think I can use the field $T - IPTC Title.

Edit: Theory is one thing, practice another one. Using left and right align for the text is pushing the paragraph on the edge of the print - but I'd like to have small border. Using free floating text is the other option, but now I can't align the text in the right textbox to the right side.
How can this be resolved, I don't want to insert the text in Photoshop....  Huh?
47  Mike's Software / Qimage Studio Edition (archived) / Virtual cut of 0,4 mm from a 24"/61cm roll - Why? on: July 21, 2009, 02:56:03 PM
I'm running 24" / 61cm paper rolls on a HP Z3100 and setting the paper size on the printer on Super D/A1 format, that is 610 x 914 mm. Calculating the 5 mm border at left and right side at the Z3100 I should end up with a useable width of 600 mm.

Opening Qimage I get a useable paper size of 599,6 x 904,4 mm. But looking at the Print Properties Qimage says 600 x 904 mm. Why?

Next thing: Setting up a print size of 200 x 300 mm, two prints doesn't get aligned horizontally because of the missing 0,4 mm.
If I specify a print size of 200 x 299,8 mm, the prints get aligned. Now comes the curious thing: I close and reopen Qimage and the same print size of 200 x 299,8 mm specified before is rounded up to 200 x 300 mm, and the prints are aligned horizontally as before.

That freaky little distance of 0,4 mm seems to float around somewhere between the program lines of Qimage...    Grin

This new Ilford announcement has me curious.  "Improved tonal range, Higher sharpness, Greater contrast, Wider colour gamut."  Okay, Epson, Kodak and all the others say that.

If the profile is the same, where is the tonal range, contrast and gamut coming from?

From the marketing boss?   Roll Eyes

However, I will try a roll on a Z3100.
