Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate Wish List / Image lock or Page background image
|
on: June 19, 2022, 11:24:25 AM

I would like the option to lock an image or apply a page background image. I am creating a digital photo scrapbook - it will contain photos as well as cuttings from newspapers/magazines. I want a page background with maybe 20% transparency to give some texture as opposed to a plain page background. I would like to use qimage because of the ability to lighten/straighten/crop etc. with the page editor. The alternative, for me, is Indesign in which I can place and lock a background image but I will need to edit the images externally before placing

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Poster printing with overlap?

Thanks for your reply fred. For whatever reason my printer always misses the tiniest little bit from the print edge so even though I line them up perfectly it still looks odd. If I print to pdf and import to photoshop they line up perfectly so Qimage is doing its job. I used to work in a drawing office where we had to join prints and drawings quite often. It was quite simple plot in tiles leaving an overlap, lay on light box, match up, cut and join where it would be least noticed. Anyway, I'm sorted now with my poster - I took it to a local print shop. It's just a feature I would love to see in Qimage

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Poster printing with overlap?
|
on: October 20, 2014, 09:36:15 AM

Hi, is there any way of getting an overlap when poster printing. I am printing a poster 4 A4's. The problem is the edge lineup cuts through the middle some text and a persons's head. If there is someway of creating an overlap I could avoid this or is this for the wishlist?

Terry - Printer is Oki ES5430 laser printer
Brian - Thanks for reply - Only printing Page 1 (If I could find such an option!) would defeat the purpose of using Qimage to print more than one decal at a time.
I think it's time to give up on using Qimage for this purpose!!
Thank again, Seán

Thank you both for your replies.
Fred - Not sure what you mean by over ride box
Terry - I can't see a preview option on my printer driver
Just to give you some more information on what I'm doing. I want to print decals onto water slide paper on a laser printer. The decals have to be original size as any reduction and they just won't fit. All my decals were set up in Photoshop on a A4 page 210mm x 197mm. It's no big deal for me to open Photoshop and print and ok the 'some image clipping will occur' dialog on an individual decals, however, to print several I thought I could use Qimage and set to original size and print.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Print original size
|

Hi, I want to print an image at original size. The original image is, very slightly, bigger than the A4 I want to print. When I select 'Original size' in the print property dialog. I then get Selected print size is lager that one page - select 'Yes' to print across multiple pages or 'No' to reduce the size of the image to fit on a single page.
What I really want is the 'Yes' option but only print the first page and proceed similar to Photoshop's 'some image clipping will occur' otherwise I end up with a few millimetres of print on a second page!!
I know I can go to page editor and select a smaller area which will then fit but does anyone know a way of achieving what I want?
Thanks Seán

Hi there,
Is there somewhere I can specify the number of copies of the same image when adding to the queue? As an example - say I want 3 6x4's placed on an A4 sheet. I know its easy to just hit ins but..
Thanks, Seán

Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Info when printing

That you Fred. That works great if a little fiddly.
I still think that it should/could be as simple as clicking on the info check box.
Maybe an option to include a prefix with info. Call it Custom and use the same options available in floating text. This would allow me to get what I want i.e. path+filename ($F) plus When printing proofs you would be able to add any prefix e.g. Mary & Johnny Wedding $e $f or whatever
It could with another option when you click info i.e Detailed info (EXIF Filename + extension Filename no extension Custom
or put a 'dot' beside the info button to bring up a custom info dialog box in a similar way to the one beside print res poster res etc.
Just a thought.
Again thanks Fred and Terry for your help/comments

Thanks Terry.
It would be a nice feature for me. I take photographs for work and generate multiple page pdf's for specific jobs. The pdf's are kept in one location but the images are stored in their own job folders. It would be great to automatically add this location/directory at the bottom of each image/page along with the filename.
One for Mike me thinks!
Thanks again, Seán

Hi,
Just to update you. The printer made some adjustments to the colour settings on his printer to match my original proof. Apparently it had been printed originally without looking at my proof!! Got the finished cards this morning am very satisfied with the results. Thanks again for the responses.
