16  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Jpg & Raw Viewing on: September 17, 2009, 08:42:05 AM
Thanks. However I had mentioned that someone might reply with a response like yours. You can view one extension or the other I know.. but it would be nice to display all, combine similar, and differentiate images that have both a jpg and a raw or images that just have a raw or a jpg... I can take a screenshot if no one but me uses the free Nikon View NX software.

Thanks

Is there a mode that will make the raw and its jpg for the same filename/shot show as 1 icon/image?
If the raw & jpeg's are in the same folder, you can sort the view by file type so all the jpeg's are together. You can then scroll the thumbnails and look at the jpeg's only.
Alternatively, place the jpeg's in a separate folder. Mike's new FlashPipe program would allow you to do this when you down-loaded the CF card.

17  Mike's Software / Qimage / copying/editing metadata on: September 17, 2009, 08:36:54 AM
I would like to take/edit metadata from one image and apply to all images.

In my case I had my gps for a few sets of images and turned it off for the rest.  I would also like to add my name etc to the images. If you could apply to a batch that would be nice.

Thanks

I would like to know about metadata as well. Althought this might be a question I might move to qimage.  I would like to copy metadata from one image to all images.
19  Mike's Software / FlashPipe / few questions about software on: September 17, 2009, 08:31:27 AM
1) I see from the video there is some intelligent conversion going on.

Why not do some intelligent copying as well?  If you are copying to multiple locations. Why no copy the files that are already on the hard drive to another hard drive. I would like that the card reader is often a bottleneck.

2) On the auto foldernaming of date, can you put time in there as well?

3)If this is an auto copy program, why do you have to hit copy if you set all this in advance. Why cant one just insert card and have it copy automatically?  I realize you may not want to have that function on all the time.

Thank you

Is there a mode that will make the raw and its jpg for the same filename/shot show as 1 icon/image? There is such a mode in Nikon View NX It looks much cleaner.  It makes a difference when you are going through 2000 images (Love my 32gb compact flash card) otherwise it would seem like 4000 images with raw and jpg. Rather than hiding one extension or the other.   Raw files with a jpg have an additional icon so you know there is a jpg for it as well.

Thanks

I suppose, however if I print 24" wide 6 4x6 there is no white space in between.

Is there an option to put a white grid over the photos?

Is there a way to cut thicker material? If so How do I adjust?

Thank you

It seems to  be an issue with thinner media kinking when rolling. Not with the thicker.

Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about to offer any type of info?

I could take a picture and upload if.

Fortunately it only has been on some test paper and not any actual prints.

Thanks. I took of the extra metal bar for fear that would scratch up the prints. ~$310 but I used the ebay and msn cashback so I should get at least 24.80 back + 1% from credit card. So if you have no white space between prints, what is the best way to align the cut?  Perhaps there is a way I can align my prints with just a smidge of a white line to cut on?  so a sheet of 8x10's 3 across (24" printer) would just have a white border on them?

Looking at uline catalog for mailing tubes. USPS Priority provides mailing triangles for free which is great for large items. For smaller roll up items 24"x 15 perhaps a 2 inch or 3 inch tube would be good?  What is the correct way to roll up the item? Against the curl?  When I try that it seems I get dimples in the paper in some areas. (I practice on discarded non printed paper of the same media type I will be mailing.  For roll ups do people put a layer of tissue paper on them?  I suppose I could roll up with the image side out to make it easy  but that would not do much to get of the curl. Then put tissue paper on the outside so the print would not get damaged.

I googled how to roll up a poster and I got this youtube video.

26  Mike's Software / Qimage / Zoom Layout, Saving Layout Questions on: July 30, 2009, 04:08:04 PM
So I am arranging 4x6 8x10 on some sheets.  The larger you make the sheet of course the larger you move out to get it all into view. However how can one zoom in to manipulate photos? I do not seem to be able to find the zoom button.

Also I have been saving the jobs and opening them back up in the program. But why not associate the files with the program so I can double click on a job and have it load up just like a document in any other program?  Or are my file associations screwed up?

For some reason some photos I have recieved are showing 4x5.33 even though I was told they were not cropped.  I am using the template centered option, however is there a stretch to fit template option should I decide to use that? Also is there a way I can use the Template Print Placement option but turn off the pink grid to view the white space between photos easier?

Thanks!

Does anyone else have one?  is the plastic guide bar supposed to be flush with the metal edge?  I notice it sits back a bit.

I picked up a Xrite DTP20UV Colorpulse Elite off of ebay for about $150  This is still a model in production.
29  Technical Discussions / Computer Hardware / Profiling: ICC versions and # of patches on: July 23, 2009, 05:54:21 PM
The old color pulse eliete I have has 729 patches with it I am building icc version 2 and 4 under default lighting, but  have also saved profiles under tungsen lighting.

What is the norm?  Does 729 patches versis 343 really make a difference for RGB usage?

Also does the ICC version really make that much of a difference?

Thank you
30  Technical Discussions / Computer Hardware / Re: Does a "wireless USB link" exist? on: July 23, 2009, 05:42:54 PM
http://www.eye.fi/overview/ Makes wireless SD cards. Some people are having sucess using them in cameras that require compact flash.  I for on have tried an SD card on my D200 (which uses compact flash) using a compact flash adapter which stuck out of the camera.  It worked, so I suspect that eye.fi may be able to be used in DSLR's but I think the transfer might be a tad slow. Also the eyefi only does jpgs.
