Well, honestly, if I hadn't found Fred's video on how to make a test strip with Qimage years ago, I could have likely created a land fill full of 44" roll prints which were far less than desirable. I re-watched that video four times looking for my error, and still didn't see it. I now know to "select" the image before progressing. You two make a great team to solve the problems that we users can create for ourselves. Smiley

Hey, Mike!!! Thank You!!! Now it works perfectly. I knew that it fell into the "what am I doing wrong" criteria, but I never expected it to be something THAT simple. I'm just thankful that I didn't "accidentally" have an image selected and got it to work once, then it wouldn't work the next time. Again, thanks for the great support, and for creating the best printing software on Earth.

Fred, also, when I click the Test Strip Icon and the image "zooms in" on the preview window, I can click on the blue "Zoom' button and see that my PPI is also decreasing with each click of the Test Strip Icon.

Hi Fred, thanks for the quick reply. The YouTube video that you linked in your reply is where I first figured out how to create the test strip in previous versions. But in V105, when I click on the Test Strip Icon, unlike the way the image reacts in the video. my image gets larger, zooming in, rather than getting smaller and creating the white space around the image. Also, my image size in the Cropping Tab is not changing at all, let alone decreasing, as it does in the video. I either have something checked, or I'm doing something incorrectly. I just need to figure out what is preventing me from getting my image to respond the way that your images do in the video. Thanks for your help with this, Keith

Hi,
In the past, I have been able to click on the "Test Strip - Crop and Reduce" icon multiple times and it would reduce the "Cropping" image size so that I could create a test print, then I could drag the portion of the image that I wanted to see in the test print into the print area. In version 2023.105, clicking on the "Test Strip" icon indicates the same image size in the "Cropping" box, and merely enlarges the image at a reduced resolution. What am I doing wrong??  Smiley

Ok, can someone tell me where the "Print Quantity" box went? It was there a couple of versions ago, and it always frustrated me when I failed to check its quantity before clicking on an image, yielding an incorrect number of prints, but now I miss it.  Wink

Hey Fred,

Thanks for the thorough reply. I changed all of my setting to match yours, but I believe the most significant was that "Fit to Page" was checked. I've never had a printer default that to "On", but I will watch for it now. So, with that unchecked, and everything else set as yours, my ppi dropped to 360x360, and the printer did what I was expecting. One other thing... how do I get to "Print Preview" ?? Thanks, Keith

Additional screen capture.

OK, I'm confused. Printer has 17" roll paper, QImage is working with a 17"x11" landscape format. Images lay out correctly in Qimage, but the printer refuses to print the images side-by-side and instead prints them one after the other. What am I doing wrong??
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: "Thread Error: The Handle is Invalid (6)" on: October 14, 2016, 02:17:27 PM
Hey Fred,

Thanks for the response. This computer has 4 CPU cores and both print and image threads are set to auto. I have created several cutouts to apply an appropriately sized watermark to each print. Rather than apply it to each thumbnail individually, I just load the prints, of the same size, in the queue and choose to apply to all images in the queue. Maybe it is a CPU issue because it seems to work great on a few images, but sometimes posts that error message when doing several images. I will try doing them in smaller batches to see if I can duplicate the issue.

Hi,

I am constantly getting the "Thread Error: The Handle is Invalid (6)" message whenever I attempt to add a cutout to several images in the queue at the same time. I am adding the images to the queue, then double clicking one of the image thumbnails to add the cutout, then selecting "apply to all images in the queue". It will work along fine for the first few images, then the error message pops up and QImage goes wacky. Any thoughts??

Thanks, Keith

Hey Terry,

Those dice are great!! If I do it as a "signature", it gets smaller as the print size gets larger. Exactly the opposite of what I want. As a CutOut, it stays proportionate, within the proper aspect ratio. You have really been a big help with this, and now I have another question. Once I have a page laid out in the Print Queue, is there a way to duplicate it within the Queue? For instance, if I need 36 wallet size, can I just create the page of nine up and then duplicate that page three times?
15  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Applying a CutOut to Multiple Images on: June 20, 2016, 06:52:09 PM
Hi Terry,

Thanks for the reply. I will try that method also. And, since we're on the subject, I am using cutouts to apply a logo to my images. I have created two different cutouts, and two separate images, to satisfy my two main aspect ratios, 16x20 and 11x14. That way the position of the logo stays basically the same across all sizes with a similar ratio, and I get the benefit of the logo being larger on a 16x20, and proportionately smaller on an 8x10, and again on a 4x5. Am I over thinking this, or is there an easier way to accomplish what I am trying to do?? Thanks again, Keith
