Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Image read error in Qimage Ultimate -- but I have plenty of memory

After restart, and with nothing else running, the memory figures are:
2146 909 2146
Better, but it still seems like the program isn't able to access all the memory.
The huge files are 2400 dpi drum scans of 5x7 negatives at 16 bits color. I've had no problem printing them out of Photoshop to an Epson. I am now trying to print them out of Qimage onto a HP z3200
BTW, I think you were the guy to sent me to Ernst about my other HP issues. Ernst knew the answer right away. It had to do with the HP sensing when paper is not quite cut to spec by the factory and doing bizarre stuff in response. The HP documentation leaves quite a bit to be desired . . . . Anyway, thanks for referring me to Ernst.

Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Image read error in Qimage Ultimate -- but I have plenty of memory

I am a new Qimage user. Thanks for your patience while I work through issues.
I am getting the "image read error" in the thumbnails for very large files (1+ gig). I checked the forum and learned that this is an insufficient memory issue, and that I could check available memory through the Help/Analyze settings functions.
The machine shows as having:
start 2146 Addl 909 Now 852.
Seems low.
Here's the question: this is a brand new computer with 32 gig of RAM installed. I have checked, and all the memory is working. Task manager never shows that more than 9 gig of RAM is being used at any one time, even with Photoshop, etc. running. Somehow, Qimage does not seem to be able to access all the available memory. Windows 10.
Any thoughts?

Technical Discussions / Printers / Print sizes on HP Z3200
|

I recently bought a HP Z3200 44” printer. This printer has a far steeper learning curve than the Epsons I have used until now (“Steeper learning curve” is a euphemism for “there are things about this machine that are seem weird”).
Anyway, I hope someone on this forum can solve my current issue.
Let’s say I have roll paper that's 44” wide. I want to make a 24" x 44" print.
On an Epson, using the printer interface on Photoshop, I enter the width of the paper and the length, and the machine prints it, no problem. The print uses the full 44” width of the paper and cuts the roll at 24” when it’s finished printing.
On the HP, however, the machine’s doesn't seem to allow me to make a print that's wider than it is long. Instead, if I tell the machine (through Photoshop) that I want a 24 x 44 print, it will print 44 x 44, but only use 24” of the width of the paper. I end up with a square piece of paper with the print running along one side.
(If I had a roll of 24" wide paper, the print would be fine -- 24" wide by 44" long -- but I don't want to stock different widths of paper.)
Does Qimage allow me to use the HP the way I have used my Epsons in the past? Or, does anyone know how to tell the HP to make a print that is wider than it is long?
I have search other posts on this forum. It seems other people have issues with the HP print sizes, but I don't believe this particular question has been addressed.
Thanks, Anderson
