1  Mike's Software / Qimage / qimage thoughts and additions/suggestions on: August 13, 2009, 12:57:31 PM
Mike;

I have used Qimage for all my printing needs for years- this is obviously a work of love- the effort you put into this just makes it better and better-

A couple of thoughts....

When picking prints for printing, I wonder if there is some way to view lage enough to decide among similar prints? A quicker way to choose. Right now, I have to move the cursor over each print, press space bar to make full sreen, view, esc, and move to next print- is there an easier process? I have asked you to enable the left and right arrow keys while in full screen mode, so I can quickly move from one image to another without going back to the main prog screen. What do you think?

I like doing a collage on a full sheet, mixing sizes and images, often overlapping them using freehand- is there a way to arrange the images top to bottom? In other words, an image that is partially hidden by others, can I bring it to the top of the 'stack'? Right now, it seems the order they are selected dictates which ones are on the bottom.

As a side issue with freehand, it is a little 'buggy'- the images often don't respond the way you would think they would when resizing or moving.

Also, in freehand, I can crop, but cannot change the aspect ratio of an image- how about I want to take a 4"x6" image, zoom into a face, shrink it down to 2"x3"- this can easily be done with the tools you have- but how about going one step further? Be able to make that 2"x3" image to a 2"x2" by trimming the canvas size? (note the image is not stretched/distorted, but just trimmed)- how about that? That would be cool- then I could change and edit image sizes after the fact-

A biggie for me.... in your selection for printer profiles, I suggest a drop down listing of those last used- usually, I use only 4-6 different profiles, and it would be so easy to find in a list rather than open the whole profile dialouge. And to make it really friendly, how about the ability to assign a name to a profile to remember what printer/paper it is for? I have a sheet of paper tacked to my moitor with all the cryptic profile names and what they go to- it would be so much easier to pick out;  Illford Smooth Pearl-Epson 3800, than the current selection; PSP9800-EP38 from the list- very confusing the way it is- we should be able to rename for easy use- make sense??

Just some ideas as I use your program all the time and keep stumbling on the same issues. Hopefully, maybe some of these thoughts might be things you have on your 'list' of  future enhancements....

Regards;

John Schulte
