1  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: File from Job Log Folder: How to change image size? on: June 18, 2022, 03:23:38 AM

You mean you are opening a job from the job log folder and then trying to change the size of a print on the live view (from that job)?

Yes, that's what I meant.

Quote
All you have to do is select the print(s) on the live view and then click on a new size.  Did you have print(s) selected when you chose to size by one dimension?

That's what the issue was - I hadn't selected the print.

But after I selected the print and then chose Specify ONE dimension and entered the desired dimension, the print cropped even though Auto Cropping was off. I messed with it for awhile a eventually I got it to my desired size without it being cropped. I found that turning Auto Cropping on then off again was what worked for me. Is there something I missed?

Thank you, Mike.
2  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / File from Job Log Folder: How to change image size? on: June 17, 2022, 06:45:54 PM
I want to print some images from the Job Log Folder but I want them slightly smaller. I tried going to Prints > Custom and choosing Specify ONE dimension and entering the desired dimension but that did not change the size of the image.

Is there a way to do this?
3  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Driver Scaling Detected - and - cannot keep borderless printing disabled... on: March 09, 2022, 03:47:00 PM

make sure the scaling is set to 100%. Select Normal.size. Now re select  the Scaling Button. Make sure the 100% setting has not changed

I did that and Scaled was set to 100%. I selected Normal, then re-selected Scaled. Scaled was still at 100%.

When I clicked the Print button, I got the warning again. I then opened Properties and Borderless was checked in the Quick Setup tab and Borderless was selected in the Page Setup tab.

Any other suggestions as to what the issue might be?
4  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Driver Scaling Detected - and - cannot keep borderless printing disabled... on: March 09, 2022, 03:48:54 AM
I am using Qimage Ultimate v2022.120 and Photoshop with a Canon PRO-1000 on Windows 11. After clicking the + to add a print and clicking the printer icon, I get a Warning dialog that reads "Driver scaling detected." To resolve the issue, it suggests using the Properties button to check driver settings and UNcheck any Reduce/Enlarge option(s) in the driver.

The only thing in the settings I can find that comes close is the Borderless Printing checkbox. I don't want borderless printing anyway (and I had unchecked this box after I installed the driver earlier today). If I uncheck Borderless Printing and close the Properties window I still get the Warning dialog when I try to print. I open the Properties again and see that Borderless Printing is checked.

Same thing happens if I try to choose "Normal-size" (as opposed to Borderless) under Page Layout on the Page Setup tab of the Properties window. I have restarted QU and Windows but the issue is still present.

Suggestions, please, on how to resolve the Waring dialog (or do I just check "Do not display this message again"?) AND does the stubborn Borderless Printing feature have anything to do with the QU warning?

...the only reason unclog jobs would be unavailable is if the printer name is different on the new computer

Yes, that appears to be the case. Thank you, Mike!

I did a manual move of all files as described above to a new PC.

On the new PC when I went to File > Print/Schedule Unclog Jobs I had to create my "first unclog job."

Is that normal or did I do something wrong in copying files to the new install?

Fred and Mike, thank you both for your help - I appreciate it.
8  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Test Strip function - how to rotate images? on: December 14, 2020, 03:25:37 AM
I had tried it with IntelliCenter and IntelliSpace. It wasn't until I turned Auto Cropping OFF that I could successfully fit the two images on one sheet. That confuses me because the video says to turn the scissors on.
9  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Test Strip function - how to rotate images? on: December 12, 2020, 09:03:15 PM
I've watched the video "teststrip" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yby04h2K-zo several times and I must be missing something. In that video, Fred is able to get two separate images on one sheet of paper at the desired image size.

I thought I have followed the video step-by-step, but I have not been successful. Here's what I've done:

Paper orientation is portrait, both images are portrait.

Under Printers and Settings I set the paper size to 8.5 x 11. I add my two images by clicking on the plus sign on the thumbnails and have chosen Fit to Page and Crop Scissors on.

Then I go to the Full Page Editor and click the Test Strip icon until the image size is 5.12 x 6.84 and repeat for the second image but only one image appears on the page. It's not until I make them 3.28 x 4.38 do they both appear at the same time (side-by-side).

If I could get them to rotate they would both fit on the paper at 5.12 wide. I have tried setting the paper to Landscape but when I do so, the images rotate also - which leaves me with the same issue, except in the other direction. I have tried this with auto rotate on and off.

I would be grateful if someone could point out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks.
10  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: Printing multiple postcards on one sheet... on: August 14, 2020, 12:55:54 AM
In Photoshop I will be making one document containing five copies of the same photo. Then a separate document with five copies of the same text for the back.

The attached drawing shows the image layout (one for photos, one for texts) centered on the canvas of the document.

The PRO-1000 specs say the minimum side margins are 0.13" - so I was thinking I could create a Photoshop document with a canvas 10.73 wide.

Will the centering in QU get me reasonably close to being in register horizontally? If yes, should I use Center or IntelliCenter?

11  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Printing multiple postcards on one sheet... on: August 13, 2020, 07:55:25 PM
I'm printing on one 11" x 17" sheet five-up of 4.25" x 6" postcards. (Once I get this to work, I'll do thirteen-up on 17 x 22.) Printer is Canon PRO-1000.

To make the images and their respective texts to align (register), do I:

1. center my images and texts (horizontally) in the Photoshop document,
2. make the document slightly smaller than 11 x 17,
3. and rely on centering in QU?

If yes, what QU Placement Method do I use?
12  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: QU won't let me print desired size/resolution... on: December 06, 2019, 04:25:58 PM
I appreciate the reply, Mike.

I apologize for the trouble - I discovered the "problem" was me. I did not consider that the 8.5 x 5.5 worked and the 8.5 x 11 did not because the 8.5 x 11 (two-up) was such that the leading edge of the image was the top of the image. With the 8.5 x 5.5 (one-up), the leading edge of the image was the right side. I was not comparing apples to apples. See screenshots.

Quote
You said "I have in Photoshop two-up on a canvas size of 8.153 x 10.253".  What are you accomplishing there, and why such an oddball canvas size?  You can't fit two 8.5 x 5.5 prints on an 8.153 x 10.253 canvas.  So I'm not sure what you are doing in Photoshop (and why).

My desired result is a folded notecard 4.25 x 5.5, which requires paper size of 8.5 x 5.5. My "image" (the photo on the front of the card and the text on the back) has a minimum 0.25" border on all sides, hence my thinking that what I wanted to do should work.

Once I cropped the canvas size to 8.0 x 10.6, it worked. I have learned (for the nth time) that the printer/software doesn't know the difference between canvas size and image size.

Just tell Qimage in Custom SPecific Size that you want 4.25 x 5.25

Thank you for your reply, Fred A.

I don't understand how it works if I tell Qimage that I want 4.25 x 5.25. I need to use one sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper to make two 4.25 x 5.5 note cards - one card folded requires paper 8.5 x 5.5.

And why did the 8.5 x 5.5 test work fine (for one card) but when I expanded the canvas to fit two-up, it did not work?
14  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / QU won't let me print desired size/resolution... on: December 05, 2019, 05:43:13 PM
I'm using QU to try to print 4.25 x 5.5 note cards. I have in Photoshop two-up on a canvas size of 8.153 x 10.253.

QU won't let me print that on one page unless it reduces the image to fit on one page.

In QU I have chosen Media size as 8.5 x 11 and I have in Prints > Custom (Special Sizes) Use ORIGINAL/embedded size. Original size is set to 300 PPI, same as the document in Photoshop.

In an attempt to remedy the issue, I reduced the canvas size slightly. While that got me closer (judging by a reduction from 306 to 305 PPI as reported when hovering over the preview image), I would have had to reduce the canvas size more than would seem practical to satisfy the Confirm dialog.

I am not trying to print full bleed. I successfully printed exactly one-half this size (one-up on a 5.5 x 8.5 sheet) as a test so I don't understand why twice the size did not work.

Would it work to set Sizing Method to BORDERLESS even though I'm not actually wanting a borderless print?
15  Mike's Software / Qimage Ultimate / Re: RawCache folder: safe to not backup? on: August 22, 2019, 02:39:38 AM
I appreciate the reply.

The Plugins\Export folder is even larger. If I should lose that folder does it mean I would no longer be able to use the Job Log to reprint past jobs? If yes, is there any practical way or workaround to minimize the size of the Export folder? It's already at 12 GB and I'm a relatively new user.

Thank you!
