1  Mike's Software / Qimage / Re: Printing 11*14 using Canon Pro 9000 MKII on: June 24, 2010, 06:06:28 PM
All the precut mattes that I bought were already sized at 10 3/4 x 13 3/4 allowing for the installing of the 11 x 14.
I printed an 11 x 14 last week for a neighbor who bought her own frame with matte, and that was the case with her matte too.

The reason I am printing 11*14 is because it is easier for me to purchase a frame with a standard matte at a local chain.
Just an extra 2 cents worth...
I do the same thing; print 11 x 14 for premade 16 x 20 frames that come with an 11 x 14 matte.
I use A3 paper which is far less expensive than 13 x 19.

Hey Fred, been a very long time. You helped me with my very fist Qimage problem about 5-6 years ago.......

I like using the Ilford Galerie 13*19, just in case a clients wants something that large for framing/printing. And I hate cutting paper myself so I'll just mount the photo in the matte and frame it with something from Michaels or AC Moore (chain arts  & crafts stores in the US) that looks nice.

If a client wants something specific in a frame or something along those lines, I will take it to the store for mounting and charge accordingly.

Once I am done this pack of Ilford though, I am moving on to Red River paper. I love it and have really been getting into their Polar Gloss series. I've been using the Satin paper but most parents like the glossy look over the satin. Wifey likes the satin paper so I keep some on hand for her.

And I don't mean to be stupid here, but the A3, A4 sizes really mess me up. I wish the drivers would report the paper sizes in a better way that would be easier to a knucklehead like myself to understand.

Quick question, is there a way that I can create a custom template for my original question. I am looking for it now while I have some down time in the office. I am talking about in the print properties box.

Terry,

Thank you. I kept missing the center placement option. I was pulling my hair thinking it was something more complicated than it was.

Thanks again. I think I've got it now.

Next step is to figure out why I keep getting a print error stating the image cannot be printed because of the paper tray. But I'll have to play with that when I get home tonight.

I was able to setup the printer settings with Terry's help.

BTW, things have been pretty quiet on the upgrade front? Could something big be coming maybe?

How can I setup the printer settings in Qimage to print an 11*14 image on 13*19 paper?
I want to have the image centered on the 13*19 piece of photo paper.

The reason I am printing 11*14 is because it is easier for me to purchase a frame with a standard matte at a local chain.

7  Mike's Software / Qimage / Christmas Cards on: December 02, 2009, 08:35:23 PM
My wife is thinking about having me do our Christmas cards and I have a few questions.

I will be using Red River paper 7*10, (folded to make a 5*7 card), and printing with a Canon IP 6700d. Images will be exported from LR into CS4 using the Red River templates. We will be putting some type of text for holiday wishes on the front and on the inside of the card.

I am reviewing the instructions on the Red River site, but I wanted to get some feedback from others that have used Qimage to do this type of thing.

My first question is, is this going to be difficult feeding the paper back through the printer after I print images or text in the proper sections of the card? Will there be ink issues with bleeding from the previous run through the printer?

In looking at the instructions, how will I need to setup Qimage in order to have the images and the text print in the proper places? I will be reading the instructions on the RR site extensively to make sure I get it right the first time.

Can I simply save the pdf file and create a custom paper size in Q, and print it, saving multiple copies with text in one area? This is where it gets confusing, how do print this baby out?

Any feedback and or help is greatly appreciated. I have included a link to the RR site and their cards for reference.
