I’m new to Qimage, so please bear with me if this has been asked before. I sharpen my images in LR. When I print in Qi,age, should I disable/turn off sharpening in the image editor?
Thanks

Yes - but I urge you to use QU sharpening instead. The deep focus sharpening - combined with the ability to target specific tones for sharpening - will give you results you can not get elsewhere. Please play around with it and see for yourself.

Fred is talking about the artifacts that you WONT get with DFS. I have found this especially useful at the boundary between a human face and a background. this is where the tone targeting is also great. So you can tell QU to sharpen everything except the flesh tones; this will give you good separation between the face and the background but lets you keep softer looking facial features.

The other feature to note is that QU has a Smart Print Sharpening feature.
One set in Preferences, it usually does not need changing and the default value is fine for most users.
What this does is ensure the finished print sharpness looks the same as that of the image on screen regardless of print size. Other applications often require you to manually modify the image sharpening according to the print size. QU does this for you - it's smart!

These videos tell you about: -
Print Sharpening - near the end of the video but watch it all!

Deep Focus Sharpening (DFS) - an old video but you'll get the idea

MelW, am I correct in assuming one tells dfs not to sharpen flesh tones via the tone select option?

Yes correct. Use the dropper to select the tones that you either want to target or exclude. Use the drop-down box to select the action (i.e target or exclude) Not at my QU machine so I can't give you a screen shot

Until Mel gets home!
I used do not sharpen or properly listed as Sharpen all except, on the blue water. Some times a large expanse of blue sky, and sometimes when I might have an indoor shot with noisy shadows.
