Thanks to the professional advises of several members of this Tech Corner I am now getting excellent prints out of QI and my 3800. I am amazed to see the influence of QI on the printing quality and I am really happy with QI. However there will still be a lot to learn and I expect to be back in this Forum regularly!
E.e. I am apparently not correctly shutting down QI because I get a message saying so.
What is the correct way of shutting down?

Good morning Harry
Frankly, I didn't know there was a wrong way to close Qimage.
Either use the X top right of the screen, a standard Windows closer, or click FILE and EXIT.
The color of that top right X might vary depending on the skin you have chosen for Qimage.

The only time I would ever get a message telling me that Qimage was not shut down properly last time it was used, would be if something crashed that was open at the same time Qimage was open.
Perhaps, you could give more detail about how you are closing Qimage, or when this error message occurs; how often; what else is running?

Hi Fred: I shut down QI like you said. Now and then I get the following Error-message:
Qimage is unable to write to the folder c:\ Documents and settings\All users\software\Qimage.
Please re-install Qimage in a folder to which you have writing access
. I located in Windows the above folder in which the word "Software" reads "ddisoftware". I am the only PC user and have unlimited access. Another message reads: Confirm Qimage was not shut down properly last sessions. How would you like to start this session? Normal or Reset
I did ask Mike advise in this matter some time ago, but did not get follow up. Harry

That's the part that confuses me.... now and then?
I would uninstall Qimage, and disable your anti virus application for a minute. Reinstall, and enable the AV software after the reinstall.
Make sure you haven't messed with the default locations when Qimage is installing. It will remember the change you made.

Fred: What do you mean with 'enable the AV software' and with 'messing wiith the default locations'?
Should I first un-install QI? Harry

Sorry I wasn't clear!
I was messing with a time cramp, lunch with the guys and fooling with Windows 7.

OK Disable your Anti virus software. Uninstall Qimage and reinstall while the Anti virus application is disabled.
After Qimage is reinstalled, you can turn the Anti Virus application back on again.

As to the default location for the install.
If you changed anything while installing, the installer remembers that change, so you should leave everything at default.
Default:  1st screen  location; C:\Program Files\Qimage
Default: 2nd screen location; C: Programdata\ddisoftware\qimage

Those two suggestions should give you a clean install.

Also, right click those two folders (Vista and up) and click Take Ownership--just in case.
