To try to ‘get around’ Canon’s 35mm border, I selected Matt paper in the Canon driver, my ICC profile was still Museum Etching, which I created myself using Syper SR Studio, (which works fine). OK at this point, very small borders, however, when I printed my photo the colours were out, the image was flat and colourless. I thought that if I had my own ICC profile everything would be fine, so could someone please explain why I have to set my paper in my printer driver to Museum etching. When using a printer profile, the driver must be set exactly the same as when the profile was made: paper type, no colour adjustment or equivalent.Setting the paper type is important because different papers respond to the ink in different ways and the driver controls the amount of ink depending on the type. I believe gloss paper requires less ink than say matt and there would be differences within the types. Many thanks I understand now. I have only used Canon paper and they are obviously in my drop-down paper list. (Sorry for this silly question) but what would happen if I choose a paper, which isn’t in my drop-down menu. Most papers will have a data sheet supplied that tells you the recommended driver settings for particular brands of printer; that will include the paper type.Terry |
